There are manypeople to thank who assist in the smooth running of this event. The sport simply could not continue without the support of volunteers who generously givetheir valuable time. We also thank the officials, judges and of course the owners and riders.

My family and Iwould liketowelcome youall to the 11th Wellington International Horse Trials and CountryFair.

Theevent has been awarded international status from 2020 to 2025 by British Eventing and the schedule forother classes in 2022 has been extended. These additions will allowlocal riders the experienceofcompeting alongside world class riders in the newarenas created throughout the site. We are also proud to host the prestigious PC110 Championship forasecond year which welcomes PonyClub competitors from across the countryastheir national championship.

WELCOME

TheCountryFair has provedtobeagreat success in recent years, generating much increased interest due to the range of family attractions, arena displays and trade stand village. We hope it has become athoroughly enjoyable experiencefor visiting families. We are equally pleased to welcome agreat number of competitors overawide range of classes for2022.

We welcome back sponsors who have long standing relationships with TheEstate and also newcompanies who have joined our affiliated sponsorship programme with Wellington Riding. Thesupport of sponsors enables our Event Organiser, David Sheerin, to createanoutstanding competition forthe riders.

•Smoking is only allowedinthe designated smoking areas. These canbefound on our sitemap. Please discard used cigarettes in the sand buckets provided.

•Wehavehand sanitising stations by our toilets, howeverwerecommend bringing an additional sanitiser with you. Please use before and aftertaking part in anyofthe daily activities.

•There will be food and drink stalls but there is no public drinking wateronsite. We suggest bringing waterwith you.

•All dog mess must be picked up &disposed of properly or the organiser reservesthe right to request exiting from the event.

•Wesuggest sharing vehicles where possible to reduceshowtrafficcongestion.

We want to makesure your weekend is one to remember, here are some toptips and acouple of politerequests too:

•You canbring apicnic. There is adesignated picnic area on our sitemap. Please clean up your rubbish and takeitwith you, animals grazeonthe land afterthe event. No BBQ’s are allowed.

•Leave plenty of time forparking, queuing on arrival and departure is to be expected.

•Wear suitable footwear, we’re in abig field and the ground is undulating.

•The weather is set to be great! Don’t forget to pack sunscreen.

•All dogs must be on alead at all times &under control, paying special attention to competing horses.

Dressage ShowJumping

CrossCountry Designed totesttheagilityand obedienceofthehorse;thisphase of the competitionisheldinan arenawherehorseandridertackle around of 8-12jumps. Ifthehorseknocksapole offthe jumpitwillincur fourpenalties, whichareadded to thedressage penaltyscore. Penaltiesarealsoaddedifthe horserefuses to jump,therider falls off(eliminationinsome cases)orif thetimelimitis exceeded. Arefusal or aknockdown incurs four penalties.

HEALTH & SAFETY

Spectators/Visitors

ALL COMPETITORS WALKING THE CROSS COUNTRY COURSE MUST ENSURE THAT THEY DO NOT IMPEDE ANY RIDERS AT FENCES, OR OBSTRUCT THE FENCE JUDGES VIEW OF RIDERS PROGRESS TO OBSTACLES. NO BICYCLES OR BATTERY/MOTORISED VEHICLES ARE PERMITTED ON THE COURSE & MUST BE OUTSIDE THE FENCING STRING AT ALL TIMES & ARE SUBJECT TO THE DISCRETION OF THE ORGANISER.

14. Accidents involving horses and competitors are well catered for and the appropriate Judges and Officials are constantly ready to report these as they occur and to call for appropriate emergency services.

3. The Organiser is required to ensure all Stewards appointed by the Organiser have received, read and understood the relevant section of guidance, so that they are aware of the requirements and standards for their area of responsibility

18. The Organiser of this event advises that due to uneven and, in parts, irregular terrain at this event it may at times be difficult for spectators and visitors to move around freely and easily As a result of which, it may not be suitable for those spectators and visitors who suffer from diagnosed clinical/medical conditions. All spectators and visitors enter the event at their own risk and are advised to wear suitable clothing/footwear. Please avoid taking prams/pushchairs and small children into confined areas such as collecting rings etc. The Organiser shall not incur any liability, except as required by law, in respect of any injury or damage by any spectator/visitor, howsoever caused.

The Organiser of this Event has taken precautions to ensure the health and safety of everyone present. For these measures to be effective, everyone must themselves take all reasonable precautions to prevent accidents and must comply with any instructions given by the Organiser, Officials and Stewards.

b. Prevented from straying inadvertently into the path of oncoming horses by crossing points, signage, stringing, whistle blasts or public address announcements.

11. Responsibility for the maintenance of the cross country course and obstacles is delegated entirely to the Fence Repair Team. They are to provide all their own working equipment and ensure only trained operators use such equipment.

Health & Safety

Except for the negligence of the Organiser and his agents or others whom in the law they are responsible, the Organiser does not accept responsibility in respect to any accident, illness or disease caused to or suffered by any horse, owner, competitor, spectator, sponsor, visitor and others present at the site of the event, or their property and accoutrements.

16. All spectators and visitors should be aware of horses and vehicles at all times, comply with the instructions of Officials, Stewards and the notices provided, and only cross the cross country course at the official crossing points.

10. All contractors working at the Event are required to observe best working practices, comply with all legislation relevant to their business and take all reasonable and practical steps to safeguard their employees and those attending.

12. All exhibitors are responsible for the safety of their own stands etc. and the risks they may pose to other persons within their allocated space or immediate surrounding areas. This is subject to monitoring by the Health and Safety Steward and Organiser.

13. The emergency services at the event include ambulance personnel, doctors, a farrier, vets and fence repair personnel. They have access to all parts of the site and can be quickly contacted through any Steward, Judge or Official most immediately through the issue of a personal radio.

15. Emergencies not connected with the competition (e.g. in the catering area) may be dealt with by the emergency services on site, however, outside emergency services (e.g. the Fire & Rescue Services) who have been informed of the event, may be also be required to attend.
