Farragut West Knox

Town of Farragut

elcome to Farragut. If you haven’t visited yet, I would encourage you to come and see what Farragut is all about. As Mayor of the Town of Farragut, I have the unique opportunity to meet many people and hear their diverse stories. One unifying theme that I hear is that there’s no place quite like Farragut. As a Knoxville native, growing up in Powell and Fountain City, and as an engineer by trade, working in various parts of the country, logging over a million miles on the road, working on more than 800 projects over a twenty-eight year career, I too can say there’s no place quite like Farragut. I love Farragut, and I’m confident you will too.” ~ Mayor Ron Williams Farragut is a town of volunteers. Volunteers worked to apply for and promote the cause of incorporation. Volunteers serve as elected and appointed officials on boards and committees to supplement the small professional staff. Farragut is a place where people volunteer their time and talents to redefine quality of life, with a beautiful, close-knit, connected community, where families and business thrive. This is the Town’s vision, and one we are working actively to pursue. The Board of Mayor and Aldermen, the Town’s chief legislative body, work hard to serve the residents of Farragut and make decisions about how to use the town’s limited resources. The Board of Mayor and Aldermen work closely with the Town’s staff to establish priorities, set goals, and make plans to achieve the Town’s vision for the future. Operating without a municipal property tax means the Town of Farragut must be strategic with its resources. As such, the Town has adopted a strategic plan to identify its vision, mission, and critical success factors. When deciding how to utilize the Town’s resources, the Board of Mayor and Aldermen look to the strategic plan to determine whether the use under consideration would positively impact one or more critical success factor. In this way, the Town uses its strategic plan as a map and compass, guiding decisions as we move toward the ideal future. Together, the elements of the Town’s strategic plan describe what success looks like for Farragut. In recent years, the Town has focused on energizing its commercial centers and getting empty tenant spaces filled with unique and attractive shops and restaurants. The Town has worked closely with strategic partners to develop plans for how to develop the Town and plan for commercial and residential growth. These successes have made Farragut a great community to call home, for families and businesses alike. Looking forward, the Town is striving to further establish a sense of place by working with strategic partners to develop a town center district, complete with public gathering spaces, unique shopping options, and multi-use walking paths for running, walking, and cycling. The Town is also working to attract family entertainment venues, interconnected with neighborhood activity hubs and vibrant commercial centers. “Since the Town of Farragut incorporated 40 years ago, the Town has relied on its residents to boldly work to establish the kind of community they want for themselves and the generations to come. We have seen many successes in our short time as a city, and I firmly believe volunteering and giving back to the community are hallmarks and keys to our success, now and in years to come. The Town of Farragut is working hard to realize its vision, and we will continue to work hard to reach all of our goals in the future.”
