A suite of sales to conclude the year sees Webb’s present important works of art, fine jewellery, antiques and modern design over 6 to 8 December. Our dedicated team of specialists and support staff and our distinct approach to marketing have resulted in numerous record prices being achieved this year and a total in excess of $1.7 million for our previous sale held in August. These successes confirm Webb’s leadership position in the New Zealand art market. Further entries are currently invited to be offered alongside a significant selection of works already consigned. These concluding sales for the year are traditionally strongly supported by the market and present the final opportunity in 2011 to offer artworks, jewels and collectable design. Enquiries about current values and market dynamics are welcomed. Looking forward into 2012, we will present a sale of Oceanic art which includes two significant private collections and for which further entries are currently invited. Coming up on 19 October 2011, Webb’s presents a sale of classic motorcycles and cars of the day. Celebrating some of the finest machines in Australasia and spanning over 100 years of motorcycling history, an exceptional range of rare and important classic machines will be presented for the passionate investor. View the catalogue now online and preview the sale at Shed Five, Top Deck, 90 Wellesley Street, Auckland. Contact: Sophie Coupland scoupland@webbs.co.nz or +64 21 510 876

Exhibition: Zhang Xianyong 4 – 18 November. Preview 3 November
Webb’s is pleased to announce an exhibition of photographic work by Zhang Xianyong. Xianyong belongs to a new generation of young Chinese photographers who engage with both traditional Chinese storytelling and Western modes of representation. His works form a carefully staged tableau that reflects on the rapid pace of China’s economic development and the radical cultural shift that it has brought about in Chinese society. Xianyong’s sprawling works are generally composed of a myriad of cultural references juxtaposed visually against one another; they are aimed at shining a light on a modern China that is torn between its past and its future.
