MOUTAIN BIKING AREA Come and mountain bike in the spectacular natural MTB domain, only 30 minutes from Annecy in the heart of the mountains. “Le Domain” has nearly 110km of designated trails with 18 different tracks for all levels, from a discovery circuit to a Enduro track, a brand new Bike Park and fun beginner circuits. They are all accessible from 3 ski lifts, open from 24th June to 3rd September.

There is something for everyone in this exceptional area with dedicated trails spread out over large preserved landscapes for big and small, beginners or experts!

JONATHAN DUVILLARD, HEAD OF THE BIKE PATROL TELLS US WHAT’S NEW.* We have upped our efforts this year to continue to offer the best circuits and develop bigger and better runs for this summer 2017. Here are the 4 improvements : The Descente du Loup Loup has been modified to offer more different ride possibilities for mountain bikers. At the Wall Ride, you can choose between 2 portions with a great fun, red run which takes you to the Voret track or another which takes you direct to the Bike Park**. The Bike Park is one of our most ambitious projects for Spring 2017. We are currently working on the project, made up of 3 lines, beginner, intermediate and expert. With such a central location on the Mini Loup (Family Run in winter), all bikers pass through here and so it will be in constant evolution.

The 4x4 trail on the Loup starting from the top of the Loup chairlift will be reworked to give access to beginners higher up the domain and access to Bike Park. Initiation modules will be included for a fun ride all the way to the village. Finally, in cooperation with local rider Killian and at his instigation, we are continuing to develop the red Enduro line, started by Killian and his friends in 2016. The line is a product of their passion for the sport and they all participated in its creation and helped in its development on the terrain. For more speed and a completely different genre, try the permanent Beauregard track which encompasses nice straight lines, jumps and berms. The Enduro tracks are great fun and nice to ride on, the tracks brilliantly follow the natural contours of the mountain and it’s great for those who want to learn to control their speed and rhythm on tracks like these. There really is something for everyone! The experts will love the bottom part of the Encarnes run that has been carved into the slope with successive turns.»

THE “BELIER TRAIL“ IS FOR YOU! The “Belier” is one of the oldest “trail” races in Haute-Savoie and is a major race in France. No less than 3 days of events have been organized for the 32nd edition in the mythical surroundings of La Clusaz. Runners, walkers, small and large, beginners, experts? E veryone can share in the fun on the tracks around the Aravis during the 8 races. • The Trails: «le New» (7kms), «l’Agneau» (14kms), «le Bélier» (27kms) and the Marathon Trail (42kms)

RALLYE ROC XC: THE FRIEND’S EVENT The organisers introduced a new concept race in 2016 called the “rallye”, a sort of race between friends where participants race on certain parts of the course and slowdown in others. The Rallye Roc XC is spread over 31.5km cross country with 4 timed sections and 3 linked passages for a total of 12.7kms timed sections, 600m upward lift and 880m in descent. « information on www.rocdesalpes.com »

That’s not all, a « test village » will allow visitors to try out trail, hiking and Nordic walking products by the several brands present. 2kms and 5kms long circuits will be specially created to let you test the equipment in the natural surroundings. The Aravis mountain range is well known for its many climbing sites and one of the most well-known is the « Rocher des Aravis » located on the road to the Col des Aravis. It has 130 routes for all levels and is a must for climbers.

Specially designed for La Clusaz and conceived along the same idea as a winter luge run, the summer luge descends on two 800m long tracks for some great fun for all the family. Accessible for all ages, with single or double luges, the descent is sure to get everyone laughing and giggling!

One of the best ways to experience climbing in total security is the Via Ferrata. The “Yves Pollet Villard” Via Ferrata stretches over 700m along the spectacular cliffs of the Borderan mountain between 1 500m and 1 800m altitude.

ARAVIS DISTILLERY Founded in 1878, the Distillerie des Aravis has been in La Clusaz for 4 generations and in 2016, the great grandson of the founder, Matthieu Castellano left his job working in headquarters in the luxury industry in Paris to take up the challenge in La Clusaz.
