Fresh from the success of its previous year which saw almost 200 racers from over 17 nations flock to its starting line, La Clusaz is set to host the international La Clusaz Radikal Mountain event for the third time, between the 12th and 13th of January 2013. The stage of the Freeride World Qualifier (4 stars) is considered a major event as it marks the beginning of the ski freeride season in Europa and gives participants an opportunity to qualify for the main competition, the Freeride World Tour. La Clusaz, which has become one of the French Alps major off -piste ski areas, opens up its snow-covered massifs to the best riders in the world for the event.

A FREERIDE WEEK For this third edition, La Clusaz is offering two FWQ** competition days to non-professional riders, which will take place (weather conditions permitting) on the 9th and 10th of January 2013. The test are open to everyone, and allow the best riders qualify for the Radikal Mountain on Saturday 12th January 2013.

FREERIDE WORLD TOUR is a private company which ran the fi rst off -piste (or freeride skiing) world championship and which has become the leading authority in the discipline over the years. The Freeride World Tour (FWT) is divided into 2 categories: • FREERIDE WORLD QUALIFIER comprises 18 stages around the world, each categorised by their diffi culty level (and rated between one and four stars), allowing participants to earn points so they can take part in the next year’s Freeride World Tour. • FREERIDE WORLD TOUR is a bone-crushingly tough championship where the world’s best freeriders* come to compete in 6 international stages.
Few words... • JUDGEMENT
During the “La Clusaz Radikal Mountain” event, more than 400 participants, male and female, skiers and snowboarders, will launch themselves down one of La Clusaz’s offpiste mountainsides. The pre-selected competitors will compete in a single downhill run with a number of possible trajectories. The certified judges will mark the best run according to the following criteria: uidity, risktaking, choice of line.
• DURATION
The qualifying stage and the final for FWQ**** will take place over two days. As weather conditions in the mountains are fairly unpredictable, the organisers reserve the option of putting the competition back until the 17th of January in order to enjoy optimum conditions.
• PRIZE-MONEY
After the competition FWQ****, prize money will be awarded to the winners of the following categories: best male skier, best female skier, best male snowboarder, best female snowboarder. Winners of FWQ** win a ticket for the saturday’s qualification.
• PARTNER VILLAGE
The heart of La Clusaz welcomes the event Village. The Radikal Mountain partners will provide entertainment throughout the day and offer a range of activities and entertainment on their stands (equipment tests, product exhibitions…).
