Ttally tropical Punchy shades of vibrant coral and turquoise create the perfect palette for a wedding in the sun

Seaside and nautical themes don't just have to be about jaunty blue stripes and anchor emblems, as this mermaid-themed wedding, with its rainbow colours and eclectic details, proves. Using bright flora to reflect tropical sea life, as well as quirky props such as shells and starfish along with a colour palette of hot pink, yellow and turquoise, the overall effect is more coral-reef than 'I do like to be beside the seaside'. This theme is carried through with details such as watercolour napkins, invites and tablecloths, and the swaying fabric chandelier hanging above the couple's table creates the perfect outdoor 'love nook'. Inspired!

Add flashes of colour to your tables by scattering individual blooms in vibrant shades

Shades of Gray Jenny and Gray married in a pretty outdoor ceremony overlooking the sea at a colonial mansion in San Clemente, California ♥

Jenny & Gray Jennifer Eby, 24, a pilates instructor, married Daniel Gray Eby, 29, a company director, in a ceremony at Casa Romantica, California The atmosphere... We wanted a beach location for the beautiful views and were also drawn to an elegant, vintage look. I had been inspired by my grandmother’s furniture and liked the idea of comfortable pieces in an outdoor garden party setting. Our venue was perfect as it combined a beach location with an indoor space for a party, and stunning gardens and courtyard for the ceremony. I didn’t want the stress of a formal

wedding, instead we wanted to create a relaxed vibe where guests felt they were at a cocktail party with a big group of friends. The look… I looked through dozens of magazines and blogs to find the perfect dress. The gown I chose was by Enzoani and I loved the romantic feel of the lace which tied in perfectly with our theme. The flowers also complemented the colour scheme in soft shades of muted pastels. My favourite varieties were the peach peonies, which made the arrangements look elegant and ethereal. I explained the colours to my bridesmaids and let them shop for their own dresses. I also bought each of them a Swarovski crystal drop necklace to wear. The details… To create a classy outdoor cocktail party vibe the venue was decorated with an eclectic variety of coloured vases

which held our floral arrangements, as well as vintage sofas and chairs for guests to lounge on. The main focus for our wedding cake was that it tasted delicious. We chose a tea cake as well as a range of desserts. For our favours, we had Lego pieces for our guests to build.

“The venue was decorated with an eclectic variety of coloured vases, as well as vintage sofas and chairs” My favourite moment… I loved sitting on a vintage sofa at dinner watching all my family and friends toast to our future and watching the sun set over the ocean. My advice for brides-to-be... Don’t let little things upset you. Not everything will be perfect on the day but you have to let it go in order to enjoy your celebration. W

The flowers

Jenny’s florist, Cristina of Posh Peony Event Design, created a shabby-chic look with the flowers and foliage so each arrangement would tie in with the couple’s vintage theme. Buttonholes: Each buttonhole was slightly different and comprised scabiosa pods, nigella, veronica, astilbe and silvery senecio. Bouquets and arrangements: The bridal bouquets and venue arrangements were made up of stocks, hydrangeas, peonies, lisianthus, eucalyptus, scabiosa pods, nigella, veronica, senecio and feathery astilbe.
