which I had a chance to see in person during my trip to London.

As I write this note, I’ve just returned from two weeks in Europe where I spent some of the most memorable days of my life in the French Riviera at the first-ever WedLuxe Insider Experience followed by an epic few days at Engage! London, hosted by the Historic Royal Palaces (yes, as in Kensington and Hampton Court!). Both of these events were designed for luxury wedding industry professionals as networking-meets-creative opportunities which allowed me the time to recharge as founder and editor of WedLuxe. On that note, It’s hard to believe but this is the 25th edition of WedLuxe Toronto. Simultaneously, we are producing the 27th issue of WedLuxe Vancouver, where WedLuxe first originated, 13 years ago. Over the years I’ve seen (and published!) so much beautiful content created by the very best industry professionals in Canada. Thanks to our one million social media followers from around the world, it’s easy for us to identify what trends, colour palettes, and designs resonate the most. With that in mind for this issue, the theme of “Modern Romantics” seemed to naturally fall in to place as a way to title the worldwide obsession with dreamy pastel-hues and flowers, flowers, flowers! A 20-ft long custom floating hashtag sign

lthough Jessica Rosenberg and Michael Morelli first met in Miami in 2014, it wasn’t until 2017 that Michael asked Jessica on a date. “I told him I wouldn’t go out with him unless he had long-term intentions,” shares the bride. “It was then that he told me he was going to marry me.” One year later, on the night of the engagement, Michael suggested that they go to Yorkdale Mall for some retail therapy. Once they entered the mall, Michael led the way to a pop-up gallery where a “Will you marry me, Jessica,” painting was awaiting them. After she screamed “YES,” the artist, Anthony Ricciardi, greeted the couple in the gallery with a bottle of champagne and gifted them the painting. The wedding took place on June 22, 2019, in Toronto, Ontario. LAURA & CO. EVENTS provided full-service planning and design for the celebration, collaborating very closely with Frank Rea from FRANK REA EVENT DESIGNS.

M E T R O P O L I TA N G A R D E N The reception was held at the FOUR SEASONS HOTEL TORONTO, which had been completely transformed into a chic white garden. One of the key features in the room was the stunning assortment of 14-ft Benjamina trees by Frank Rea from FRANK REA EVENT DESIGNS. These trees were custom designed and embellished with cherry blossoms, white hydrangea, roses, Swarovski crystal ribbon, and Frank’s personal crystal pendant collection. Not only that, the ceiling was entirely covered in a stunning floral structure of imported smilax woven through an intricate grid with suspended hydrangea, wisteria, and roses. Magical fairy lights and candlelight were the finishing touches on this magnificent reception, allowing guests to dine under a canopy of sparkling beauty.

END NOTES “We wanted a fashion-inspired cake,” shares the bride, and NADIA & CO. delivered just that. “Nadia came up with a super chic idea to ‘feather’ the cake to mimic the strokes in my dress and whimsical nature of the magical forest we were creating.” The seven-tiered creation also paired silver accents with florals to further match the aesthetic of the night. The couple took to the custom-created dance floor by DANCE FLOOR DÉCOR where SENSATION LIVE MUSIC played on a stage that was layered with white roses and mirrored troughs. For their honeymoon, Jessica and Michael had a true European vacation. Starting in Paris, the couple went to Barcelona, Mallorca, the Amalfi Coast, and ended in Rome, where they drank wine and enjoyed as many sunsets as possible. The couple currently reside in Etobicoke.

eauty blogger, Raschelle Smith and Christopher Clare’s love story is like something out of a Nicholas Sparks novel! The pair first fell in love in 1998 as high school sweethearts but lost touch after attending separate colleges. “We never thought we’d ever see each other again,” recalls the bride. Fast forward 15 years and it wasn’t until one fateful night that the couple found each other on Tinder. “It was as if we had just seen each other yesterday. It was love at first sight “again,” and the rest is history,” shares Raschelle. Three years later, Christopher initially planned on popping-the-question on New Year’s Eve. However, afraid that Raschelle might see it coming, he proposed the next morning in bed. The couple tied the knot on July 13, 2019, at the WINDSOR ARMS HOTEL in Toronto, Ontario. Rectangular tables draped in luxe nude linen were covered with roses, baby’s breath, and gold eucalyptus to evoke a gilded garden. atasha De Lambert and Sashank Bhavsar met at a mutual friend’s party in 2012, and they’ve been together ever since. Six years later, Sashank arranged a spa day for Natasha and her friends to keep her out of the house. When she returned, Natasha opened the front door to a path of white rose petals leading to the kitchen. On the table sat an iPad and a note with three steps; unlock the iPad with the digits of their first date, watch the preloaded video, and then walk to the backyard. To her delight, once Natasha unlocked the screen and pressed play, Sashank had created a video of their favourite scenes from Friends and How I Met Your Mother. With tears running down her cheeks, Natasha stepped into the backyard and saw Sashank had covered their deck with rows of vines, flowers, and photos of the two of them. Placed on their backyard table was an engagement ring and a letter, along with a very thoughtful way to include and memorialize Natasha’s beloved dog who had recently passed away. The touching tribute included a clay paw print and a Toy Poodle stuffed animal. Natasha and Sashank tied the knot on August 24, 2019, in Toronto, Ontario. Natasha and Sashank’s epic seven-tier wedding cake was created by FINE CAKES BY ZEHRA. The white masterpiece featured hand-crafted floral detailing along the sides and top tier. For their honeymoon the couple spent twelve days in Italy, stopping in Rome, Pompei, Naples, Positano, and ending with three days on the Amalfi Coast. Their itinerary consisted of private tours of the Vatican and Colosseum, along with enjoying cooking classes, beaches, pizza, pasta, and wine.

Chloe, being a senior account executive for BOSS MENSWEAR, decided to check out the event, and the two quickly became inseparable. A couple of years later, Zakariah proposed to Chloe by surprising her in their new home. Dressed in a white velvet tuxedo, he got down on one knee in front of “Will You Marry Me?” balloons, rose petals, and candles. After she said yes, Zakariah had arranged for Chloe’s family to surprise her, and they got to share the special moment surrounded by their loved ones. The wedding took place on June 14, 2019, in Toronto, Ontario. The number 14 has been carried throughout their love story. It’s been the date they became a couple, the day they got engaged, and finally the day they were married. After attending and entering a contest at the 2019 WedLuxe Show, the happy couple won same-day coordination by JOY BY JANICE for their big day. “I’m so happy I went,” shares the bride. “Janice is the best!”

INDUSTRIAL GLAMOUR Continuing with the industrial-meets-glam theme, the reception also took place at the FERMENTING CELLAR. “We envisioned an empty warehouse space with decor that reflected true romance and elegance,” shares Chloe. Crystal chandeliers and string lights from the venue were suspended from the ceiling over mirrored dining tables from DETAILZ COUTURE EVENT RENTALS. Long rows of baby’s breath, garden roses, and peonies connected each table as guests sat on acrylic chairs from LUX FURNITURE RENTALS, and dined by candlelight.

“One of our biggest priorities was making the lollipop seating chart,” recalls Chloe. “Zakariah built it from scratch, and after long nights, endless coats of paint, and crossed fingers, it was a total success!” Lollipops supplied by NADIA & CO. Stickers by SENTIMENTS PAPER BOUTIQUE.

After the wedding, Chloe and Zakariah embarked on the trip-of-a-lifetime to Greece and Italy. arah and Chris Vinelli met in 2006. On the first day of grade eight, Sarah had trouble opening her locker, and Chris, who’s locker was next door, offered to help. From then on, the two had a fun and flirty friendship that included many movie nights, hangouts with mutual friends, and even attending school dances. As years passed the friendship blossomed into something more, and the couple officially started dating towards the end of grade eleven. “It seems as though we blinked and nine years of dating went by—from elementary school to high school, university, and into our careers. We finally got to live out our dreams of getting married as best friends and as high school sweethearts,” shares the bride. Seven years after the couple started dating, while they were out for dinner at THE DOCTOR’S HOUSE, Chris got down on one knee and proposed. To Sarah’s surprise, Chris had called their immediate family members, who had been waiting nearby, to come and join them for a beautiful celebratory dinner. Sarah and Chris tied the knot on July 27, 2019, in Kleinberg, Ontario. Diana Pires of DIANA PIRES EVENTS was hired for design and event production. “Where do I begin with Diana and her team? From the moment I met her, I knew that she would be the one who could deliver exactly what I imagined for my wedding day,” shares the bride.

REFLECTIVE DREAM GARDEN The reception was held at COPPER CREEK GOLF CLUB, where the bride’s “reflective dream garden” theme came to life. “The overall goal and vision for our wedding was beautiful and classic, yet elevated with modern touches and design elements. Everything was very clean, with sharp edges, and more of a muted colour palette,” shares Sarah. To achieve this look, four ficus trees in mirrored bases were arranged around the room, while a variety of high and low floral arrangements were strategically used throughout the space to create a lush floral experience. Mirrored and smokey details were incorporated throughout.

SATURDAY NIGHT JIVE performed and set the tone for a memorable night. PLATINUM ENTERTAINMENT SOLUTIONS provided the stage. VERIATION MUSIC provided lighting and AV services. After their big day, the couple embarked on another adventure, this time in South Africa. t was love at first DM for Sara Kazemeini, owner of BLK SHEEP CLOTHING BOUTIQUE, and Mathew De Sa. The now-newlyweds first laid eyes on each other on Instagram in 2014, but it wasn’t until Mathew messaged Sara that the pair became inseparable. Three years later, while vacationing in Tulum, Mexico, Mathew proposed. After reserving a room that overlooked the water, Mathew guided Sara down a beautiful path that led to an aisle lined with candles, and a table for two with drinks and desserts. All eyes were on the whimsical and unconventional arch, courtesy of FLOWERS TIME, which consisted of two trees that were sprayed navy blue and rose gold. “The bride and groom came from very conflicting backgrounds but found a way to make their relationship work,” shares the planner. “They wanted their relationship to be reflected in the overall design and atmosphere of their wedding. The overall look of juxtaposition was very distinctive and definitely left its mark on our guests.”

rom the moment Ahmad Zaidan first saw a photo of Noora El-Keilani, he knew she was something special. While Ahmad was friends with Noora’s brother-in-law, it wasn’t until Ahmad saw a picture of Noora on his friend’s phone that he knew he had to meet her. After both attending Noora’s sister’s wedding but never speaking, Ahmad got Noora’s number and texted her the next day. Despite being in Ottawa, Ahmad drove 490km to take her out for coffee. The two had an instant connection, and their coffee quickly turned into the perfect day wandering the city. As Ahmad was preparing to leave, he asked Noora, “You don’t have to answer me right away, but will you marry me?” One year later, she did. The couple wed on July 11, 2019, in Burlington, Ontario, in a traditional Arab ceremony at a private estate the day before their reception. With an elegant sofreh created by their families, the couple celebrated their love in an intimate setting. SUE GALLO DESIGNS worked with the bride to bring a literal sketch to-life that Noora herself drew. “Like a scene from William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, guests were transported into a magical room filled with hanging wisteria, and endless amounts of romantic blooms,” shares florist, Sue Gallo. END NOTES After a dinner catered by SPENCER’S AT THE WATERFRONT, guests were treated to a seven-tiered cake designed by CAKE DELIGHT BY FARAH. The show-stopping, botanical confection featured an edible cage with two birds representing Noora and Ahmad’s pet parrots and was brought in on an antique bar cart. The bride’s favourite design detail of the day, however, was the cohesion of the overall theme. “All our flowers coordinated perfectly with everything at our wedding. Our colour palette could be seen in our cake, Ahmad’s ring, my Louboutin shoes, even the wedding favours,” recalls the bride. For the perfect mix of relaxation and adventure, Noora and Ahmad had not one, but two honeymoons. After the wedding, the couple first spent two weeks in Jamaica at multiple SANDALS resort locations around the island. Then in November, the pair embarked on a fun trip to Madagascar.

After the Leaf’s clinched a playoff spot for the first time in years, Nicole and her friend decided to go to a local bar to celebrate. As fate would have it, while Nicole’s friend was talking to old university classmates, Montrealer, J-F approached Nicole, and the rest is history. J-F decided to pop-the-question the second night of the couple’s trip to France in October 2018. After an afternoon at the Musée d’Orsay, J-F asked the driver to pull over and proposed on a bridge across from the Eiffel Tower. “It was every girl’s dream proposal—very romantic,” shares Nicole. END NOTES Nicole’s favourite moment of the day was during dinner. “Our planner, Laura, asked us if we wanted to have our first dance early as it looked like we might get a thunderstorm. We agreed and did our first dance at the bottom of the stairs. Towards the end of the dance, we had an amazing fireworks show from FIREMASTER PRODUCTIONS that seemed to last forever and resulted in all 200 guests smiling and dancing. The second we stepped back into the tent, the sky opened up, and it poured rain. The timing could not have been more perfect,” recalls Nicole. After their dream wedding came to an end, Nicole and J-F jetted off to Italy. The couple currently reside in Mississauga, where Nicole is the CEO of Athlete Excellence, a mental performance consulting agency for athletes, and J-F is in institutional equity sales.

rie Reininger and Mitch Lebar’s relationship isn’t your typical schoolyard romance. Back in the spring of 2003, Mitch attended private school with Brie’s brother. At their yearly cadet inspection, Mitch had the unique role of holding the school’s flag and started to talk to Brie before the parade. They ended up exchanging numbers on their flip phones but remained friends until 2009, when they began dating. For his proposal, Mitch knew he wanted to catch Brie off-guard, and according to her, he “absolutely accomplished that goal.” After suggesting they meet his parents for drinks at the SHANGRI-LA HOTEL in Toronto, the next thing Brie knew, she was being escorted to a suite overlooking the city’s skyline. The room was covered in over eleven thousand rose petals, hundreds of tea lights, and pictures of the couple over the past eight years. Both on the verge of tears, Mitch got down on one knee, and Brie said yes. The couple said ‘I do,’ on Nov 3, 2018, at their destination wedding on Paradise Island, Bahamas. Amanda Burrows from WILDFLOWER EVENTS & OCCASIONS provided full-service planning, floral, and decor design. Myra Brown from THE OCEAN CLUB, A FOUR SEASONS RESORT, coordinated everything venuerelated, including guest accommodations and transportation.

provided the perfect backdrop for the dreamy, floral-filled ceremony. In advance of the wedding, Officiant Matthew Sweeting from ISLAND PREACHA WEDDINGS had given the bride

and groom a questionnaire about each other. “Matthew then incorporated our words (why we fell in love, our partner’s favourite qualities, and why we want to spend our lives together) into the ceremony. It was incredibly special to hear what the other person wrote, and it captured our relationship and our emotions perfectly,” shares Brie.

The dining space featured crystal chandeliers and acrylic vases, in addition to a breathtaking 15-ft floral truss over the head table.

“We chose a soft colour palette of peaches, ivory, and gold to complement the existing greenery and statues in the gardens. We sprinkled in pastel blue on the invitations, bridesmaids’ dresses, and sweets table to pick up on the stunning blue water of the Bahamas.” –BRIE

END NOTES Brie and Mitch’s four-tier wedding cake by TIER CAKE LOFT was the perfect reflection of their joyous celebration. The cake featured ivory fondant detailing to match the lace on the bride’s dress and also incorporated fresh flower accents. Guests could also enjoy a sweets table by pastry chef, ANGEL R. BETANCOURT featuring mini donuts, Rice Krispies treats, mini-opera cakes, mousse, tarts, and cheesecakes. Entertainment for the reception included a jazz band from SHARMOND SMITH and an eight-piece band provided by FALCON ENTERTAINMENT. FURZE ENTERTAINMENT provided DJ FURZE to get the party started later in the evening. The newlyweds celebrated their marriage with a trip to Greece and Austria where they visited Athens, Crete, Mykonos, Santorini, Vienna, and Salzburg and enjoyed wine tours, boat trips, and various sightseeing expeditions. The couple currently live in Newmarket, Ontario, where Brie is an account manager at AMAZON, and Mitch is a project manager at STELLAR METAL.

The inaugural WedLuxe Insider Experience took place in the French Riviera this past October. An intimate group of luxury wedding and event professionals joined WedLuxe editor-in-chief, Angela Desveaux, for a three-day inspirational art and design tour. The group enjoyed unparalleled experiences and private access at some of the most incredible locations in the region.

The welcome dinner was held in a private chapel, located on the property of the CHÂTEAU DE BELLET winery run by THE BARONS OF BELLET, whose title of nobility was granted in 1777 by the King of the

Sardinian states. This family, originating from Savoie, gave its name to the appellation, which celebrated its 70th anniversary in 2011. The chapel was constructed out of white stones from the former quarry of La Turbie. These are the same stones used to build Monaco’s cathedral, famous casino, and oceanographic museum. Château de Bellet wine enjoys centuries of recognition as the best of the region and was served at the royal wedding of Prince Albert of Monaco and Princess Charlene.
