Reception News Autumn Term 2 Welcome back after the half term holiday! This half term is going to be busy! Our learning this half term will be focussed around the themes of light and dark and celebrations. We have lots of activities planned so we should have lots of fun learning! We will also be starting to rehearse for our Christmas performances of ‘Busy Busy Bethlehem’ towards the end of November. Details about tickets for the performances will be sent out in a letter closer to the time.

Can you design and make your own junk-model space rocket at home? Bring your rockets into school to show everyone when they are finished!
Thank you to those of you who have brought ‘Wow’ stickers into school! Please continue to jot down any ‘Wow’ moments at home and bring them in—it’s great to see the amazing things your children can do! We will send out some more ’Wow’ stickers in the near future.

Toilets We have noticed that a lot of children are still wanting to go to the toilet first thing in the morning after arriving at school. We would really appreciate you making sure your child has been to the toilet before bringing them to school. It is extremely busy on the corridor first thing in the morning and we don’t have enough staff to escort them at this time. If your child needs the toilet please take them to the infant toilets prior to bringing them into the classroom. Thank you.
Reading Volunteers .
The children love listening to stories and looking at books at school. We would like to invite parents to come into school on a Friday morning to share stories with the children in our reading room. We will put up a sign-up sheet for the next half term for you to put your name down to join in with this. We would like one parent every week to join us for this 15 minute story reading session from 8:45—9:00. We thank you for your support!
Parents’ Evening If you didn’t manage to come to parents’ evening in October, we have a limited number of appointments to see us on Wednesday 2nd or Thursday 3rd November. Please see Miss Slinn or Miss Faraday to arrange a time. We feel that all opportunities to see parents are very important and we do have targets and information to share with you about your child.
PE The children are really enjoying their P.E. lessons at school! Please ensure your child has a P.E. bag containing black shorts, white t-shirt and a black pair of pumps. Please check that all clothing fits (especially pumps!) Please also ensure that every item is labelled.
If your child wears ear-rings, you need to make sure that they have some surgical tape in their PE bags so that we can help them to cover them up and make it safe to join in PE. Alternatively, you could remove their ear-rings. PE takes place on Tuesday or Thursday. We do support the children with changing for PE. However, as you can appreciate, supporting a full class with changing themselves can be very time consuming and the children can become frustrated with themselves and upset. Our target for this term is for all children to be able to dress and undress themselves independently. You can help at home by asking your child to dress and undress themselves without your support.
All P.E. Bags need to be in school on
Tuesday 1st November
