Monteney Mail And the winners are... On Thursday 28th March we held our Spring awards assembly to celebrate the various achievements of the children over the last term. The children have worked incredibly hard and we were thrilled by the number of family members who came to support the children as they received their awards.
This term we had an amazing 81 children achieve 100% attendance. We are also delighted to announce that we have a new award— The Peter Jenkins Ambassador’s Award. Our special award winners included: Ruby Bailey and Tyler Scaife for Outstanding Progress in Literacy, Charlie Heywood and Luke Senior for the
SSAT Award for Science and Olivia Masterton and Abbie Buckler were the first winners of the Peter Jenkins Ambassador Award. The Ian Smith Award for Creative Writing was won by Chloe Wilding and Callum Law. Check out the school website and our school display for details of all of the winners.
Y6 SAT Dates Each year our Y6 pupils, along with every other Y6 pupil nationally, undertake a series of Standard Assessment Tests (SATs). This year SAT week starts on Monday 13th May 2013 (3 weeks time) and the tests are undertaken each morning. The children are unable to sit the test at any other time
and as a school we are monitored on this to ensure we comply with the strict timetable the government sets for this, so your child must be in school every day that week. If your child is in Y6 we ask that they come to school prepared for the test, that they are on time ; they have had
an early night the night before and a good night’s sleep.

Many of you will have read in the press, or even seen on the news the changes that Sheffield have introduced for the Children’s Centre in the city. Of the current 34 Children Centres, there will only be 17 left and as of July 1st the centre at Monteney will become a “spoke” Children’s Centre. What this means is that some courses and some Children Centre activity may continue in the building, however most will stop and be delivered at other centres— Early Days and at Angram Bank Children’s Centre in Chapeltown. The trust has very clear plans for the use of the building and these include use of the training rooms, the office spaces and the crèche facility.
