Reception News Summer Term

Welcome back after the Easter Holiday. It has been wonderful to see how creative you have all been during the holidays. You have made some super creations to enhance our immersive environment. So far, we have had numerous types of fish (including a scary shark!), treasure chests, octopus, jellyfish, underwater worlds and even a mermaid. Don’t worry if you haven't completed yours yet as you can still bring in your creative work in during this term. Our fact finding wall is amazing as well. What super researchers you have been! The children have found some fantastic facts about their sea creatures. Check out our fact wall the next time you are in our classrooms. We are looking forward to our new topic of Under the Sea!

The Deep! Our Reception visit to The Deep will take place on Monday 27th April! Please make sure any outstanding payments are handed in by Thursday 23rd April! Look out for a letter containing final details of what your child needs to bring with them closer to the time.

Morning Routines—Self Register Board Recently several children have ‘forgot’ to register they are here in school in a morning. To ensure our class register and dinner register are correct please make sure your child visits the ‘selfregister’ board to let us know they are in school.

Book Bags Book bags need to be in school everyday. They are as important as wearing our school uniform! Reading books and your child’s reading record should also be kept in them.

Checking your child’s drawer Please check your child’s drawer regularly. Important letters and school news are handed out frequently. Weekend Home Learning is also put into drawers on a Friday afternoon!

Warmer Weather

As the weather may be getting warmer, you may want to start sending your children to school with a sun hat and sun cream to protect them on sunny days. Please ensure that all hats and bottles of sun cream are labelled with your child’s name to avoid confusion! Don’t forget you still need to have a suitable coat and jumper/cardigan in school every for the unpredictable British Weather.

Water Bottles Please remember to bring a named water bottle, containing water only please, to school each day. The children are encouraged to have regular drinks of water throughout the day to help maintain a healthy body.

P.E KITS! Please make sure that your child has a full P.E. kit in school at all times! This should contain a white t-shirt, black shorts and black pumps. All items should be clearly labelled with your child’s name. It would really help your children with getting changed if you encourage independence at home when getting dressed… practising putting on socks, tights and turning insideout clothes the right way round would really help them as we expect more independence as they move to Year One.
