Year 3 News Spring Term This term we are focussing on one of the most intriguing places on Earth:
Antarctica. We will be doing lots of exciting things based around Antarctica including:
Writing poetry to describe the continent Finding facts and writing reports about penguins
Designing an animal that could live in the Antarctic Learning about explorers involved in the race to the South Pole
Making presentations about global warming and explaining the effects it has on our planet
Creating model penguins
And many more interesting things! Look out for things to research and explore at home linked to our Antarctic topic. Make sure you check out our Y3 blog and twitter

Exhibitions Thank-you for all the support we had for our Ancient Egyptian exhibition. The children loved being able to show off some of their fabulous work. This term we will be working towards an Antarctica exhibition and we will let you know in due course when this is scheduled to take place. Assemblies Assembly days for Y3 this term are : Shine Assembly—Friday at 8.55am. We will try to let you know as soon as possible if your child is in Shine Assembly. Class Assembly—Y3MC Wednesday 11.2.15 at 8.55am
Whirlow The first trip to Whirlow Hall farm was a huge success and this term sees the final two visits. Group 2: Y3RO- 19.1.15-21.1.15 Y3MC- 21.1.15-23.1.15 Group 3: Y3RO and Y3MC- 2.2.154.2.15 If you have any queries about the trip then please don’t hesitate to ask any of the Y3 team.
Whirlow– What to pack! Remember children will be taking part in outdoor activities and Will get dirty so don’t send new clothes! Here’s a checklist to remind you of some of the things you might need to pack:
Sensible walking shoes/ trainers. Pyjamas/ nightie. Indoor shoes/ slippers/ trainers. At least 4 pairs of socks. T– shirts. Anorak/ coat (preferably with hood) Jumpers or sweatshirts. 2 pairs of trousers or leggings etc. Hat, scarf and gloves Wellingtons N.B. Whirlow Farm now has some wellies for children to use. Underwear. Soap. Toothbrush & paste. One large towel. Brush/ comb. Soft bedtime toy.
YOUR SUPPORT A Huge Thank you! Homework and spellings We are really impressed with how many children are managing to bring in their homework every week. We are now expecting children to complete maths, literacy and spelling homework. Homework will continue to be handed out on Fridays and due in the following week. Attendance Fantastic efforts with punctuality and attendance...well done Y3s!
