Year 4 Class news Autumn Follow our class!

Creative curriculum. This term our new topic is ‘The Romans!’

We are really excited about the launch of our new year 4 Twitter account! We will be using Twitter to keep you informed of all of the exciting things that your child has been doing during school!

Children will be exploring the sometimes gruesome history of the Romans and will be taking part in a variety of interesting and exciting activities. We are really looking forward to seeing all of the different creative projects that the Y4 children will create! Your child can create anything they like for their creative project at home. Here are some past examples:

.Our PE days this year for both classes are a Monday and a Friday, Children can leave their PE kits in school and take them home at weekends. Please make sure your child has the correct PE kit and is ready to take part in their learning.

Swimming We know that lots of the children are really excited to start their swimming lessons in year 4! This year, we have been allocated sessions that will begin in February and further details about this will follow after Christmas.

Look what else is happening... Homework.

Y4 Spelling homework! Every week, your child will be given 10 spellings which we will be practicing throughout the week. There will then be a spelling quiz every Friday. It would be fantastic if you could continue to support your child with these spellings.

Reading at home. All children in year 4 now have a reading record and a book. Please encourage your child to read at home every night and talk to you about what they have read.

Homework will start in year 4 next week. Children will be given 2 pieces of homework a week: literacy and numeracy.

The literacy will be online based using google docs, which your children already know how to access. Numeracy will be a challenge for the children to complete independently at home. Homework will be handed out on a Friday and due in the following week. Children who do not have access to the internet at home can use the learning zone in school.

Letters. We have already sent home a couple of letters this half term regarding key information within school.

School Photos. School photograph day has now been moved to Thursday 25th September which

Please remind children to check their book bag at the end of the day to avoid your child missing out on some of the exciting things happening in school! The most recent letter we have sent is regarding our class trip to Chester on September 24th.

does not clash with our school trip.
