Year 6 News Summer Term 2015 Last term was another huge success for Year 6. From the fabulous work shown at our most recent exhibition, including a tear-jerking dance routine, to a fascinating science week where we honed our skills as Crime Scene Investigators to attempt to solve the mystery of the missing house point tubes. As always, all the Y6 children worked their socks of and should be really proud of their achievements. We’re really looking forward to our final term!

To celebrate the 90th Anniversary of John Logie Baird’s invention of the TV, we will be spending this term investigating some of the most important inventions in history and the men and women responsible for their creation. We will look at some weird, wacky and perhaps less successful inventions which you’ll find hard to believe really exist! Later in the term, we will investigate the work of mechanical engineer, Isambard Kingdom Brunel, and how his work revolutionised transport and modern engineering. As part of this work, we will study the strengths and properties of materials, shapes and joins; using these to design, build and test bridges which will compete against each other at our exhibition of learning at the end of term.
