THE 100 YEARS OF THE CZECH REPUBLIC STORY 28 October, 2018, will mark 100 years from the moment the independence of Czechoslovak Republic, predecessor of the Czech Republic, was declared in Prague’s Wenceslas Square to all the nations of the former Austro-Hungarian Empire. The new sovereign state that appeared on the world’s map had to prove the world its viability in the difficult times after the end of WWI. It managed to keep its historic borders, carry out a much needed land reform, create a strong currency and continue with its successful industrial development. The young republic, lead by the popular and charismatic president T. G. Masaryk, was quick to earn international respect. The enthusiasm of that era has been reflected in values that the country can pride on to this day. The architecture of Czechoslovakia was among the most imaginative and bold, created in the spirit of Modernism by great architects like Adolf Loos, Mies van der Rohe, Jan Kotera, Josef Gocár and Dušan Jurkovic. Even Prague Castle, once the seat of the Kings of Bohemia and now of the Czech presidents, and the unforgettable dominant of the city, was altered with the unique touch of architect Jože Plecnik. The design from the heart of Europe was famous and much sought after, and the fine arts had their ambassadors in Paris and the USA: Alfons Mucha was one of the world’s most famous artists at the time and František Kupka was one of the founders of modern abstract art. Czechoslovak music, meanwhile, was played in opera houses and concert halls throughout Europe, with Leoš Janácek and Bohuslav Martinu considered among the most original composers of the time. Czechoslovak trade and industry earned an important reputation and the young country was the cradle of breakthrough inventions and smart technical solutions. The flagships were strong brands like the Škoda and Tatra car manufacturers, the footwear empire of Bat'a, the Jawa motorcycles or the beer Pilsner Urquell, all of which were a guarantee high quality and innovation. The world rediscovered the Czechoslovak spas, such as Karlovy Vary and Mariánské Lázne. Czechoslovak athletes and sports events oriented businesses successfully faced international competition. Czech crystal and jewellery were unique and imitated in other countries. Saaz hops became the holy grail of brewing and the beer travelled the world from this small republic in the middle of Europe on the wings high quality. The thus far hidden heritage of a nation began to see the light. Today, all generations are proud of how quickly a small country like this managed to become an important part of the European and international communities. Many other events, especially in 1938, 1948, and 1968, so called the “magic eights”, would have an important effect in the national identity and the fates of the people. But the real values prevailed and you can find their imprints and get to know them. They are everywhere in the country, you only have to look.

Ride of the Kings May 2018, South-East Moravia, the Moravian Slovakia Region The Ride of the Kings is an unusually colorful folklore custom with a more than 200 year history, traditionally connected with the Pentecost Christian holiday. It used to be celebrated in many places and today remains alive in the Slovakian Moravia Region. It is scheduled for Vlčnov on 25–27 May, Kunovice on 18–20 May, Skoronice on 8 September this year, and Hluk as late as in 2020. The Ride of the Kings is today a ceremonial procession of young 18-year-old boys who – dressed in beautiful costumes – ride decorated horses up and down their village. Its origins are in an initiation ceremony that welcomed the boys among the adult members of the community. The King – a boy between 10 and 12 – is dressed in a girl’s costume and holds a rose in his mouth as a symbol of innocence, nobility, and reticence. Being elected king is always a great honour for the boy’s family. The Ride of the Kings lasts all day. It has a precisely defined order that may vary from village to village. The costumes used by the actors, and dates of the festival vary, too. The Ride of the Kings was added to the UNESCO Lists of Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2011. www.unesco-czech.cz

bition. Another important source of new works are the exhibition cycles that for many years have been mapping the new artists in the Czech scene.
After a long pause, Prague City Gallery (GHMP) presents works of art acquired in the last five years. For the fifth time, the Gallery able to obtain works from artists we has been following for many years and hold an exhibition for them. With this system, GHMP moves towards a more distinctly profiled collection that reflects the themes set out in the exhibition program. This exhibition presents a selection from the last four years, opening a window to the structure of the collections, gradually giving them consistency. GHMP’s exhibition program focuses mostly on neoconstructivism, geometry and minimalism and the diverse trends that are developing them further, which today represent the fundamental source of their acquisition, which, together with conceptual and postconceptual works, form pillars of a collection that in the future could be presented as a permanent exhi-

The Reunion of Poetry and Philosophy 7 February – 13 May 2018 Stone Bell House Staroměstské náměstí 13, Prague 1 Tue–Sun: 10 am–8 pm The exhibition presents the works of Zhang Xiaogang and Wang Guangyi, two Chinese artists who are part of the international art scene. They began in the 1980s, when independent Chinese art sprang in unofficial circles of several epicentres relying on bits of information of hard-to-get material from western art. Lu Peng, the author of synthetic works on modern Chinese art and a theorist of several generations Zhang Xiaogang, Rebirth No. 2: The Rite of Rebirth
Wang Guangyi, Ritual No. 4 of Chinese authors, has prepared this exhibition as a confrontation of two lines that characterise the development of the local artistic thought. One of them draws from poetic and literary sources, whereas the other mostly from philosophical and socio-critical theses. Both artists present these two lines with works inspired in no small part by the spiritual atmosphere of Prague.

At the occasion of the 100 th anniversary of the founding of the republic, the festival will present music of Czech and Slovak composers that found its response on the world stages and contributed to the creation of the modern cultural image of Czechoslovakia, today, the Czech Republic. In this context, it’s worth mentioning figures such as Bohuslav Martinů, Klement Slavický, Pavel Bořkovec, Miloslav Kabeláč, and Eugen Suchoň, as well as the representatives of the young Czech and Slovak generation: Ondřej Adámek, Lukáš Sommer, and Marko Ivanović. Several compositions have been commissioned directly by the Prague Spring festival and more than 10 compositions by Czech and world composers of the 20 th and 21 st centuries will have their world or Czech premiere.

The 73rd edition of the festival will also commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Leonard Bernstein, whose legendary European debut took place during the first edition of Prague Spring, in 1946. The works of this leading composer and conductor will thread the entire festival and culminate with the concert of the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Keith Lockhart, presenting the best pieces under the subtitle “Bernstein on Broadway”. A free series of the Ibero-American program (Spain, Catalonia, Portugal, South and Central America) will be presented in 2018. For example, Jordi Savall will present a project named “The city of two peaces: The History of Jerusalem”, and the series will include young jazz guitar player Amós Lora and his quartet.
During the festival, the Municipal House and Rudolfinum will host numerous world famous orchestras, such as the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam (rated as the world’s best) with Daniele Gatti and phenomenal pianist Daniil Trifonov, the Budapest Festival Orchestra with its chief conductor Iván Fischer, the Tonhalle Zürich with its artistic director Lionel Bringuier, and the Warsaw Philharmonic. The chamber ensembles coming to Prague will include the English Baroque Soloist with Sir John Eliot Gardiner, the Monteverdi Choir, and Accademia Bizantina.

The opening will be commissioned symbolically to the most important Czech orchestra, the Czech Philharmonic conducted by Tomáš Netopil, while the closing concert will present the Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by its chief conductor James Judd. The list of symphonic orchestras also includes the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra, the PKF-Prague Philharmonia, the Janáček Philharmonic Ostrava, and the Hradec Králové Philharmonic Orchestra. The traditional opening concert on Kampa Island has become a natural part of the festival. It was attended by more than 1,200 people last year and serves as a unique platform for to bring together Prague’s citizens and visitors at the occasion of this top-class musical event. The festival doesn’t omit young visitors and artists and has prepared the 70 th edition of the Prague Spring International Music Competition. This year’s disciplines are cello and French horn. At the same time, festival’s musical matinees and concerts present young artists who already proved their qualities in this and other international competitions, such as Olga Šroubková (the last year’s violin competition winner), the cembalist Anastasia Antonova, accordionist Markéta Laštovičková, bass player Indi Stivín, soprano Slávka Zámečníková, conductor Chuhei Iwasaki, and organist Pavel Svoboda.

NATIONAL GALLERY PRAGUE National Gallery in Prague For the Eyes to Admire – Decorative Techniques in Medieval Painting and Sculpture, 14 th – 16 th Centuries 14 December 2017 – 20 May 2018 Convent of St. Agnes of Bohemia, Prague 1 This is the second exhibition organized as part of the Art and Natural Science series in the permanent exhibition of Medieval Art in Bohemia and Central Europe 1200–1550, in the Convent of St. Agnes of Bohemia. Like in the previous exhibition, For the Eyes to Admire – Decorative Techniques in Medieval Painting and Sculpture, 14 th – 16 th Centuries introduces visitors to extraordinary details in medieval paintings and the way they were created in workshops. The exhibition focuses on decorative techniques, the individual types of decorative designs, in both paintings and sculptures, and their stylistic form. Visitors will be able to study the vast array of punched, stencil and sgraffito decoration, as well as the technique of tin relief used in the exhibition’s original artworks, with additional information provided by cards located by the exhibits.
Jiří Kolář – The Grimace of the Century
66 collages that map the dramatic events that took place that year in Czechoslovakia. It will be complemented by other cycles of mostly unknown works that show how openly Kolář created the orbis picture of our times from the second half of the 1940s until the end of his life. The exhibition will include selected works from the collections of the National Gallery in Prague, the Kampa Museum, the estates of Jiří Kolář, the Neues Museum Nürmberg and other private collections.
25 May – 2 September 2018 Kinsky Palace, Staroměstské náměstí 12 Prague 1 Although the National Gallery in Prague hosted a retrospective of Jiří Kolář in 2000, a figure like him demands to be explored further to find a way to leave stereotypes aside and grasp his multifaceted work through multiple points of view. Jiří Kolář (1914–2002) was a Czech poet and artist known worldwide thanks to his collages and experimental art. He was sent to prison between 1952 and 1953 for criticising Communism. In 1977, he signed the Charter 77 (a declaration of a civic group criticising politics and the state power in Czechoslovakia). After not being allowed to return to Czechoslovakia with his wife, Běla Kolářova, he moved to Paris, in 1980. They both returned to the Czech Republic in 1997. After very interesting works that were right on the border between poetry and visual arts, Kolář began to produce only visual works. He experimented with existing collage techniques, but gradually started to develop new ones – confrontage, froissage, rollage, etc. The exhibition focuses on the works of Kolář that, connected to his poetry, show the unorthodox manner in which he can artistically formulate his commentary of the world. An important part of the exhibition will consist of Deník 1968 (Diary 1968), a set of

Maria Lassnig, 1919–2014 16 February – 17 June 2018 Trade Fair Palace, Prague 7 The National Gallery in Prague is proud to present “Maria Lassnig 1919–2014”, the first large scale exhibition in the Czech Republic of the groundbreaking oeuvre of one of the most distinguished artists of the present day, together with “My Animation Is an Artform. Maria Lassnig, the Filmmaker” (Moving Image Department) which focuses on Lassnig’s pioneering animation work. Featuring over 50 large-format paintings, drawings and watercolor series, as well as sculptures and films that reveal Lassnig’s long standing exploration of the body and self-representation, the exhibition spans the artist’s entire, more than seven-decade long career; from the abstract works made during the 1940s in Vienna, through painterly experiments of the periods spent in Paris and New York, including cutting-edge cinematic work, down to the mature body of work after her return to Austria in 1980, featuring rarely exhibited sculptures. The retrospective culminates with the paintings, drawings and watercolors made in the final years of her life, which focus on self-portraiture and explore the idea behind much of Lassnig’s art, namely the notion of “body awareness”, concentrated on the depiction of the invisible aspects of the inner sensations, described by the artist in a following way:
Double Self-portrait with Camera developed a singular body of work, making boldly expressive, brightly colored oil paintings with the human figure – often fragmented, deformed and rendered grotesque – at the centre of her compositions. Using herself as the subject of her paintings, they address the fragility of the body, the ageing process and the passing of time. The exhibition was prepared in cooperation with Maria Lassning Foundation Vienna and it is held under the auspices of the Austrian Embassy in Prague and with the support of the Austrian Cultural Forum in Prague.
Influenced at an early stage by art movements that celebrate gestural, informal and spontaneous practice such as art informel, tachisme and surrealism, but also by body art and performance art, Lassnig

KAMIL Lhoták LHOTÁK–– Retrospective RETROSPECTIVE Kamil 7 February – 22 April 2018 Municipal House, Prague 1
Prague’s Municipal House has prepared the most extensive retrospective of paintings of leading Czech artist Kamil Lhoták, presenting his works in their full range of motifs and styles. Kamil Lhoták, (1912–1990), painter of balloons, modern techniques, suburbs and sports, and also illustrator of more than 400 books for children and adults, was a self-taught artist. His distinctive and recognisable signature is often described as “the view of an enchanted child”. He drew his inspiration from childhood memories, old posters, magazine photos and atlases. He was a member of Group 42, where he rubbed shoulders with Jiří Kolář, Jan Smetana, František Hudeček and Jan Kotík, among others, artists whose ideas focused on the every-day life in cities and the suburbs. As a painter, Lhoták was very productive. There wasn’t a day in which he would not complete a drawing or a painting. He carefully recorded all his oil paintings in an inventory, which would help experts identify his work. Even today, Lhotak’s inventory includes dozens of paintings that are known only by their title and lack any visual documentation. The retrospective at the Municipal House will present a thorough overview this artist, from his earlier works, in 1936, to those created in the last years of his life. 120 canvasses will be exhibited, from national and private collections, including several discoveries, mainly from foreign collections in Switzerland, the USA and France; works that will be presented to the public for the first time ever. MUNICIPAL HOUSE Nám. Republiky 5, Prague 1 Open: 10 am–7 pm Admission: CZK 170/85/350

NATIONAL THEATRE National Theatre The Excursions of Mr. Brouček
Svatopluk Čech in his two 1888 “Brouček” novels, whose hero is the “honourable” citizen of Prague, the burgher Matěj Brouček.
Leoš Janáček
Premiered on 22 & 25 March 2018 The National Theatre Prague
The subject would then be adopted by the great Czech composer Leoš Janáček, who furnished it with equally satirically and ironically refined, or sharpened, music. Janáček’s indisputably most comical opera took nine years (1908–1917) to write. The Excursions of Mr. Brouček’s difficult genesis and journey to the stage of the National Theatre in Prague coincided with the very years of the no less complicated birth and building up of the Czechoslovak Republic.
Currently, we are witnessing how “truth” and “love” are being prevailed over in society by “good old-fashioned” narrow-mindedness, crassness, insolence, as we begin 2018, and with it the centenary of the establishment of the independent Czechoslovak Republic. Besides grand celebratory gestures, we can also expect many other events. Opera is not usually capable of promptly reflecting the “burning questions of the present”, yet we have a work that simply cannot not be staged at the National Theatre in 2018: Janáček’s The Excursions of Mr. Brouček, an absurd burlesque about the chronic moral insufficiencies of the narrow-minded man, or – even better – “little” man. Using the tools of satire and irony, the diagnosis was first described by the great Czech poet and prose writer

Nabucco
Giuseppe Verdi Premiered on 28 & 29 June 2018 The Karlín Music Theatre Prague Verdi’s third opera, Nabucco, based on the Old Testament story of the Babylonian King Nebuchadnezzar (ca 630–562 BC), has been an essential title on the repertoire of every opera house possessing a large choir. In the act, the chorus plays a very bold role, singing one of the best-known opera scenes there is, “Va, pensiero, sull’ali dorate” (Fly, thought, on golden wings). The audience at the opera’s premiere, on 9 March 1842 at La Scala in Milan, demanded that the scene be repeated. Nabucco marked the onset of Verdi’s new operatic style. While still reflecting the respective influences of Donizetti, Bellini and Rossini, the purely virtuoso passages quintessential for the bel canto era gave way to arias and ensembles fully aimed at enhancing dramatic tension and drift. Nabucco was first presented in the Czech lands in a German translation on 3 March,1849, at the Estates Theatre in Prague. The current production will be staged by the celebrated Argentinean tenor José Cura, with whom the State Opera company has previously collaborated first in the autumn of 2001 during a tour of Japan, with the production of Verdi’s Aida (José Cura was in the role of Radamès) and, in January 2015, when he appeared at the State Opera in a performance of Verdi’s Otello (in the lead role).

St. Vitus Cathedral
This Gothic Cathedral, which was built over nearly six centuries, was finally completed in 1929. In the 10th century a rotunda originally stood in its place. Construction of the cathedral was begun in 1344 by Mathias Arras and Petr Parléř, who also built the St. Wenceslas Chapel, which is adorned with frescoes and semi-precious stones; in the catacombs underneath there are tombs of Czech kings.
According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the Prague Castle is the largest coherent castle complex in the world, with an area of almost 70,000 m2. The site of the castle was established in the 9th century, and in the 12th century the Romanesque palace was built. In the 14th century, under the reign of Charles IV, it was rebuilt in the Gothic style, and the last reconstruction of the Royal Palace was carried out under the rule of the Jagellons at the end of the 15th century, At that time (1497 to 1500) the famous Vladislav Hall was built in the late Gothic style. The castle was enlarged in the 16th century following the great fire in 1541. After World War I, the interior and gardens of the castle were redesigned by the architect J. Plečnik. The castle is the seat of the president of the republic and the historical and political centre of the city and the state. The changing of the guards takes place at Prague Castle every hour on the hour from 5:00 am to 10 pm. The guard changes at noon are accompanied by a solemn fanfare. See the map on page 46. Malostranské nám. 556/29 The construction of this church started in 1704 on the site of a small, older Gothic church. The frontispiece was finished in 1710 and the nave, with its wreath of chapels, was consecrated in 1711. This part was clearly built by Christopher Dienzenhofer. The sanctuary and the cupola were built in 1737–1752 based on Dienzenhofer’s design, and the structure was finished by A. Lurago between 1751 and 1756. The interior is an example of the high Baroque style; the decorations were created by Jan Lukáš Kracker. The construction of the Petřín observation tower was initiated by the Czech Tourist Club on the occasion of the Jubilee Land’s Exhibition. It is a scale model (1:5) of the Eiffel Tower in Paris, designed by Ing. František Prášil from the famous ČKD factory. “Aspects of Alice” is a classical Black Light Theatre performance based on motifs of “Alice in Wonderland” by Lewis Carroll. Audiences in more than 30 countries on three continents have admired this theatrical performance for its imaginativeness, poetics, and perfect technical tricks. With a help of your imagination, Alice will go through all the beautiful and sweet moments of maturing, first loves, awakening adultery, knowledge of life, laughs, tears, joy, and sorrow. All of it takes place against the background of ancient Prague, its architectural jewels, its rich history, and Prague as a crossroads of Christian and Jewish cultures. Large-screen projections, animated film, puppets, unique on-stage tricks, black theatre effects, beautiful contemporary and classical music, and your imagination unite in a breathtaking show unseen in any other theatre.

TIME COFFEE… Time forFOR Coffee…
For 100 years, Prague cafés have been places for pleasant encounters of friends, artists, journalists, and students. Some have vanished, but some still offer elegant interiors, comfort, morning newspapers, and – of course – good coffee.
The Slavia Café is one of Prague’s legends. It is a centre of cultural and intellectual life. Its traditional atmosphere and unique interior – accented with the famous picture “Absinth Drinker” – invite you for a cup of hot and delicious espresso. Our pastry shop prepares daily home-made cakes, and we offer quiet breakfasts, business lunches, or romantic evening moments over a glass of wine with a view of the National Theatre, Prague Castle, and the river Vltava. Of our 320 seats, the one with the best view awaits you, and we’ll do our best to make the Slavia Cafe a special place for you, too.

The Louvre Café was founded in 1902. We
are honoured to carry on the tradition of this establishment, which has been a top café culture and cultural life centre ever since its origin. We are proud to have experienced repeated visits by personalities of world-wide significance such as Franz Kafka, Karel Čapek, Albert Einstein, and many others. The café opens at 8 am and offers a wide selection of breakfasts and newspapers. The restaurant serves traditional Czech cuisine, and light fare specialties. The non-smoking part of the restaurant, and several salons, seat parties of up to 15–20 guests. We maintain the tradition of “café sports” – thus you can borrow chess sets and play pool on one of five pool tables. On hot days you can enjoy a stay on an openair summer terrace. Covering 400 sq m, our newly opened Louvre Photogallery displays the best works of leading Czech photographers. The Koněprusy Caves are located near Prague, close to the famous Karlštejn castle, and constitute the most extensive cave complex in Bohemia. The length of all rooms totals 2,050 meters. The underground complex of corridors, domes and pits is situated on three levels. Only two levels are open to the public; the tour is 620 meters long. Visitors can admire a unique formation called the “Organ,” the largest underground room known as “Prošek Dome,” with a torso of a mighty “Mohyla” (Barrow) stalagmite, and the “Mint,” with remnants of a medieval secret money forging workshop. The most interesting speleothem decoration is known as the so-called “Koněprusy rose.”
Karlštejn Castle was mitt in the middle of the 14th century by Charles IV for the safe-keeping of the coronation jewels. In the 16th century, it was rebuilt in the Renaissance style and in the 19th century was renovated in the Pseudo-Gothic style. In the Chapel of the Holy Rood, where the treasury is kept, is a unique collection of Gothic paintings by Master Theodoric which were done in 1360. Kutná Hora was an ancient mining town at the end of the 13th century. In the 14th century it was the second most significant town after Prague. In Kutná Hora, there are plenty of precious Gothic constructions such as the Cathedral of St Barbora (1388 to 1565), one of the most beautiful Czech Gothic buildings, and the Church of St James (1340–1420). A direct witness to the mining glory of Kutná Hora is the late Gothic style Italian Court (Vlašský dvůr) where the famous Prague grosches were minted. (see p. 98–99)

St. Barbara’s Cathedral
– UNESCO family member for 23 years
KUTNÁHORA Kutná Hora is one of the most famous Czech towns. The riches from the silver mines made it the second most important city in Bohemia, after Prague; the town’s two Gothic cathedrals – the St. Barbara’s Cathedral, and the Cathedral of the Assumption of Our Lady and Saint John the Baptist in Sedlec – are the best proof of that. Both these extraordinary landmarks, along with the historical city center, are included in the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List.
In Kutná Hora you can also find the famous Ossuary, an underground chapel of the All Saints Church decorated solely with human bones. Do not miss a visit to the former Royal Mint, and the seat of Bohemian kings in the Italian Court, and the Unveiling of the Mysterious Face of Kutná Hora Museum, where you can learn about the criminal history of the city.
“Hrádek” (Little Castle), one of the most famous burghers’ houses in Kutná Hora, is today the home of the Czech Museum of Silver, with exhibitions on silver mining. The museum regularly appears on leading positions of TripAdvisor travelers’ surveys. Once again, it received the Certificate of Excellence in 2015. The museum also offers a tour through an original medieval silver mine, the St. George drift. Visitors are equipped with medieval mining gear, a helmet and a torch. The drift is 35 meters deep, and 250 meters long. During the tour, visitors also pass by rooms filled with crystal clear water. (Open: April – November) Art lovers should not miss the 2nd largest gallery in the Czech Republic, the GASK Gallery situated next to the St. Barbara’s Cathedral in the Jesuit college.

ČESKÝ KRUMLOV… …Treasury of History and Art The City of Český Krumlov has been writing its history for more than 700 years. Each century left its unique imprint on the city’s face. Thus, this is a city that boasts great architectural beauty and a magical atmosphere. Under the reign of the Rožmberks the city flourished and dressed itself in a new Renaissance attire. Since then, a palatial tower dominates the chateau, the courtyards are decorated with murals by Italian artists, and scratch work facades decorate numerous houses in the city. Another period in the story of the city is marked by the Baroque. The aristocratic love of theatre, music, and arts during the period gave birth to a unique chateau theatre, which resounds with tones of baroque operas in their original staging. You can admire the baroque beauty of the chateau in its rooms and the garden. Local noblemen were gourmets, too; with good food they enjoyed good local beer. The brewery that bears the name of the aristocratic family of Eggenberg has been brewing beer to this day. The last aristocratic family who influenced the shape of the chateau and the city were the Schwarzenberg. Ever since then, the image of the local landmarks hasn’t significantly changed. Egon Schiele, a controversial painter, was enchanted by the charms of the city. Works such as “Dead City” and “City on the Blue River” were created here. We can take a look at the city through the eyes of the renowned Expressionist in the local Egon Schiele Art Centrum. Everyday life at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries was captured in the photographs of Josef Seidel. The original, authentic Art-Nouveau Seidel studio building welcomes visitors and lets them discover the secrets of early artistic photography. The extensive complex of the newly renovated Český Krumlov Monasteries invites visitors to exhibitions presenting the life and the arts of the Minorites and Clares Monasteries as well as to workshops and interactive exhibitions where they can learn about the crafts and artistry of our forefathers. In 1992, another significant year in the history of the city, Český Krumlov was included in the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List. The contemporary city pulsates with colourful life. Krumlov resounds with music of various genres and concerts that feature music stars such as Placido Domingo, Renée Fleming, Jonas Kaufmann, Anna Netrebko. And the story continues…
