Warren Miller himself returns in 67th film ‘Here, There & Everywhere’ shown at ABT on Dec. 2
Warren Miller Entertainment’s sixty-seventh film Here, There & Everywhere comes to Alberta Bair Theater on Friday, December 2 at 7:30 p.m. Tim Hedin, owner of SkiBoot Rx, will, once again, emcee the event and announce raffle prize winners. “We are thrilled to return to the screen with the support and inclusion of the patriarch of winter stoke, Warren Miller” said Managing Director Andy Hawk. “This year’s project has been an incredibly rewarding opportunity for the athletes, film crew and staff who were able to work directly with him again.” The 67th installment of iconic winter fun brings the thrill of action snowsports to enthusiasts everywhere, as the world’s most accomplished skiers and snowboarders scour the globe for
untracked powder and the pursuit of adventure. Narration by Olympic gold medalist Jonny Moseley and on-screen interviews with the legendary Warren Miller deliver the nostalgia of skiing’s roots and a zeal for discovering new terrain. Venture with world-renowned athletes JT Holmes, Jeremy Jones, Seth Wescott, Jess McMillan, Ingrid Backstrom, Marcus Caston, Wendy Fisher, Tyler Ceccanti, Kaylin Richardson and others as they push the boundaries of their talent on snowcapped peaks, vast glaciers and towering, big-air jumps. Globe-trotting from the U.S. and Canadian Rockies to sparsely populated lands like Greenland and the Swiss Alps, these skiers and snowboarders prove that the joy of winter can be found wherever you seek it. Here, There & Everywhere opens the door to showcase a progressive side of snowsports, from fat biking, backcountry snowmobiling and hill-climb racing (featuring Polaris pro Keith Curtis) to dogsledding and the ever crowd-pleasing pond skimming. And, as with every annual tour, the film awakens our desires to hit the slopes and sparks excitement for the coming winter season. This screening of Here, There & Everywhere is sponsored by ClockTower Inn/Stella’s, Uberbrew and The Zone 96.3. Tickets, $14 general admission, are available at the Alberta Bair Theater Box Office on the corner of 3rd Ave N and N Broadway, by phone at 406-256-6052 (box office hours are Monday through Saturday, 12:00 Noon until 5:00 p.m. ) and/or online at www.albertabairtheater.org.

MSUB’s Office of International Studies presents International Education Week Nineteen-year-old Morteza Hosseinnehad has been at Montana State University Billings not even a semester and finds himself amongst friends. Next week, the pre-engineering major from Iran and president of the International Studies Club is hoping his friends and other students, staff and faculty at MSUB take the chance to ask him about where he’s from. He will be wearing a pin, pictured here, as will the rest of the 25-member strong ISC, as part of International Educational Week, sponsored by the Office of International Studies. IEA is an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. The joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education works to promote programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad. Hosseinnehad is hoping the week-long event, which includes sessions on study abroad opportunities, a reception for recognizing MSUB’s international and internationally educated faculty and staff and a reception that is open to the public on how to tap into international career tracks, will spur conversations. “People don’t really know about Iran,” he said. “They have a false sense about my country, given to them through Hollywood movies … like that we are just a desert.” For one, Iran has a lot in common with the United States. It is a modern state with sprawling metropolitan areas and,
Hosseinnedhad said, “like Billings, it is one place I’ve been where people are friendly and say hello to one another.” “This is going to be a good week for us to present our countries,” he said. “There are 25 students in the club and a lot to learn from.” The Office of International Studies works with partner universities from around the world to offer study abroad opportunities for MSUB students. Many of these programs are direct exchange programs so students pay MSUB tuition to study abroad, giving many an economical way to travel and live internationally while being immersed in a new culture and perhaps learning a new language. The office will be sending five students abroad for the spring semester. Two will be studying in Costa Rica, two in England and one will be heading to Spain. Lizzy King, 19, and an elementary education major, is looking forward to her upcoming travels to Winchester, England. King has lived in Billings her whole life but has some traveling under her belt. “I’ve been to Germany and Honduras so I wanted to study somewhere but didn’t think Billings had that kind of program,” King said. “I was really excited when I found out that I had that opportunity available to me.” She anticipates the experience will help her academic and future success as an educator. “I really want to look at how elementary education is taught there. That is exciting
to me and I think it will make me a better teacher,” King said. “I’ll learn different cultural norms and that will be a benefit.” Abby Cook, immigration specialist with the Office of International Studies is hopeful community members will also attend the session on Wednesday, November 16, about international careers available to people who study at MSUB. “When people hear MSUB, they don’t think ‘international,’ but we have a lot of really good opportunities,” Cook said. “One way we want to highlight that is with this session. We are bringing in businesses and career professionals to discuss their careers and how students can get started.”

Born and raised in Sandpoint Idaho, Shook Twins are an Indie folk-pop band hailing from Portland, Oregon. Identical twins, Katelyn and Laurie Shook, and Niko Daoussis form the band’s core. Central to Shook Twins’ sound is their wide range of instrumentation: banjo, acoustic and electric guitars, electric bass, mandolin, electronic drums, face drum (beatbox), glockenspiel, ukulele, banjo-head drumming and their signature Golden Egg. Beautiful twin harmonies, layered upon acoustic and electric instrumentation, coupled with Laurie’s inventive use of percussive and ambient vocal loops, and Katelyn’s repurposed telephone microphone, set their sound apart, creating a unique and eccentric blend of folk, roots, groove and soul. Their eclectic style fluctuates from song to song; drawing from their life experience they write about being potters’ daughters, the sway of the subconscious, imagined superpowers and a chicken friend named ‘Rose.’ Shook Twins also pull out unexpected covers on classic hits as well as their friends’ songs, and get-down to rhythm driven dance numbers with their 90’s hits female supergroup, Sideboob (w/ Mimi Naja of Fruition, Allie Kral of Yonder Mountain Stringband and Kat Fountain). Katelyn and Laurie are the main songwriters, but they also back up their band member Niko Daoussis (Niko Slice), adding his uniquely compelling songs to the mix. Satsang, Reid Perry
Satsang is a Conscious Music Collective blending world conscious lyrics with a unique blend of Roots Music, Folk, Indie Rock, and HipHop. Satsang seems to have something for every musical palate. The lyrics come from and are rooted in change, growth, awareness, and imperfection, and are used as a mission statement for reflection, growth, and activation. Touching on everything from the bliss of traveling and the growing pains of change: to societal ills and civil rights. The live show is everything that the band name suggests: A gathering of people to assimilate and share their truths. The rhythms and energy put forth by the band keep everyone on their feet, and the lyrics leave them craving active and immediate change. Satsang has toured all over the country and has shared the stage with the likes of Steel Pulse, Nahko and Medicine for the People, Trevor Hall, Wookiefoot, Mike Love, and many more. “It still amazes me how far they have come in such a short period of time. (Hed)p.e.
The quest to uncover the truth has given California-based hardcore pioneers (Hed)p.e. new life. While the band has weathered the stormy waters of the music business for over a decade and enjoyed a slew of successful albums, it’s their quest for answers that has given them purpose. I believe (Hed)p.e’s longevity is due to the fact that our records are more than just music,” concludes Jahred. “Some of the greatest artists have used their music for social commentary. Bands like Rage Against the Machine, System of a Down, Sex Pistols, and The Clash, have all empowered their fans to rise up to fight injustice. Since we’ve got involved with The Truth Movement, I’ve heard from thousands of fans who are excited that we’re using our music to explore things other than girl and boy problems. The best bands use their music for more than dancing and getting wasted.” (Hed)pe has their sights firmly set on the New World Order and they are using their brand of hardcore to bring it down. While early (Hed)pe albums found them mixed up in the rock n’ roll lifestyle, the group have been reborn to become the voice for a movement that empowers the youth and explores Secret World History, and at the same time promotes unity and political activism. Always pushing the envelope, (Hed)pe’s new album EVOLUTION is built on heavy dark riffs and deep, solid grooves. (Hed) p.e.’s new album “Evolution” is in stores now! Pinky and the Floyd
Pinky and the Floyd calls Montana home, but has recently been called the Northwestʼs Hottest Pink Floyd Tribute Band! Pinky was founded in 2007, and has seen very few personnel changes over the years. Instead, this grass-roots effort has exploded in popularity, selling out shows across the state. They put on an amazing live show thatʼs both note-for-note and improvisational, but itʼs their superb musicianship that sets them apart from other Tribute Bands. The energy and stage presence is unprecedented! Pub Station Ballroom General Admission/21+ Doors at 7 p.m./Show at 8 p.m. $16 Advance/$20 Day of Show RESERVED SEATING-Limited availability, 1 table with 4 chairs=$100

Jay Leno performs stand up at ABT on November 18 Acclaimed TV late night show host and admired stand-up comedian Jay Leno performs two shows at 6 and 9 p.m. on Friday, November 18. Opening for him is Billings’ own Skyview High School Choir’s All Naturals, an auditioned extracurricular a cappella group of 16 singers directed by Amy Logan.
$71, $61 and $51 for students with valid I.D., are available at the Alberta Bair Theater Box Office on the corner of 3rd Ave N and N Broadway, by phone at 406-256-6052 (box office hours are Monday through Saturday, 12:00 Noon until 5:00 p.m. ) and/or online at www.albertabairtheater.org.
“We are excited to be selected to open for Jay Leno,” said Logan. “He’s an icon in the entertainment industry. That night is something we’ll always remember.” In addition to his reign of late night TV with The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, which garnered an Emmy Award for “Outstanding Comedy, Variety or Music Series,” Leno is a best-selling children’s book author, much-in-demand corporate speaker, lovable TV and movie voice-over artist, pioneering car builder and mechanic, and philanthropist. He has also succeeded in his most recent venture Jay Leno’s Garage, of which he is a producer as well as star. The NBC creation, viewed at Jaylenosgarage.com and on CNBC, has gained an international following on the Web, not to mention an Emmy Award and two additional nominations for Outstanding Special Class–ShortFormat Nonfiction Programs. Leno, himself, is the recipient of the People’s Choice Award and John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts’ Mark Twain Prize for American Humor among other honors, including the Harris Poll selection as most popular star on television. Other personal highlights include his induction into the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences’ Broadcasting Hall of Fame, the Hasty Pudding Award at Harvard University, an honor whose sole prior comedy/talk host recipient was Johnny Carson, and an honorary doctorate from his alma mater, Emerson College. Like Mr. Carson, Groucho Marx and an elite group of entertainment figures, Leno has been invited to have his papers installed in the Library of Congress. He also received a star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame (asking that it be placed in front of the Ripley’s Believe It Or Not Museum where he was arrested for vagrancy when he first arrived in Hollywood). He also has set several land speed records and become the first person to drive the pace car of all major NASCAR events. It’s no wonder Leno is widely characterized as “the hardest working man in show business.” These performances are sponsored by Denny Menholt Chevrolet, ABC6/ Fox4 and MOJO 92.5. Tickets, $81,

“1964” THE TRIBUTE
Nine Entertainment presents ‘Best Beatles Tribute on Earth’
BILLINGS, MT — Nine Entertainment presents “1964” THE TRIBUTE at Alberta Bair Theater on Friday, February 10 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets, $49, $44 and $39 go on sale Friday, November 4 at 12:00 Noon at the ABT Box Office, located on the corner of 3rd Ave N and N Broadway, by phone at 406-256-6052 (box office hours are Monday through Saturday, 12:00 Noon until 5:00 p.m. ) and/or online at www.albertabairtheater.org. Like actors, these musicians cast a spell as they step into character before your very eyes. For over 29 years, this group of performers has successfully recreated every sensation of being at a Beatles concert circa 1964 through 1966— from wardrobe to hairstyle, with Liverpool accents, singing nuances, and vintage instruments.

Come reconnect to a bit of the history that brought us to the fun and frolic of Christmas today!
While Santa’s origins are connected to this elder Father Christmas, the contemporary Santa Claus we all know so well was introduced to us in a 1930s Coca-Cola Advertising campaign! (Why do you think he’s dressed in red and white?!) Many Christmas traditions arose originally in Europe and were woven together to bring us our contemporary Christmas: the Christmas tree, wreaths, and Old Father Christmas himself. Each serve to remind us
The cost for each photo is a $3 - $10 donation to the local non-profit educational organization MusEco Media and Education Project ( www.MusEco.org .) Billings Clinic Named One of the Nation’s 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals by Truven Health Analytics Billings Clinic was named one of the nation’s 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals by Truven Health Analytics TM, an IBM company. The study, now in its 18th year, singled out 50 hospitals that achieved superior clinical outcomes in this critical area of hospital care. As is the case with the Truven Health 100 Top Hospitals® study, the rigorous processes used to calculate and measure hospital service lines leverage industry-leading, risk-adjusted methodologies developed and maintained by Truven Health scientists over many years. The 100 Top Hospitals study is widely regarded as the leading program for evaluating leadership impact in a hospital, as well as for evaluating quality indicators and efficiencies. The Truven Health 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals study measures performance in key performance areas: risk-adjusted mortality, risk-adjusted complications, core measures (a group of measures that assess process of care), percentage of coronary bypass patients with internal mammary artery use, 30-day mortality rates, 30-day readmission rates, severity-adjusted average length of stay, and wage- and severityadjusted average cost. The study has been conducted annually since 1999. “We are truly honored by this award, which recognizes the exceptional physicians and staff we have working tirelessly for our heart patients at Billings Clinic”, said Dr. Scott Millikan, Chairman of the Department of Cardiac and Thoracic Vascular Surgery at Billings Clinic. “Our state-of-the-art facilities combined with our extensive expertise and experience afford us the opportunity to provide the highest standard of care for patients in our region.” To determine the 50 top U.S. hospitals for heart care, Truven Health researchers analyzed 2013 and 2015 Medicare Provider Analysis and Review (MedPAR) data, 2015 Medicare cost reports and second-quarter 2016 Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Hospital Compare data. The winning hospitals were announced in the Nov. 7, 2016, edition of Modern Healthcare magazine. The study and subsequent analysis of the positive variances these leading cardiovascular service hospitals show, indicate an opportunity for a broader national impact for cardiovascular patients, should these results be replicated. In fact, if all cardiovascular providers in the U.S. performed at the level of this year’s winners:

About the 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals Report and the 100 Top Hospitals Program The 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals study is available at 100tophospitals.com. It is published once a year in November. Hospitals may also request customized benchmark reports and comparative analysis on the 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals by contacting (616) 248-4645 or visiting 100tophospitals.com. The 100 Top Hospitals program was initiated in 1993. It uses independent and objective research to guide hospital and health system performance. Organizations do not apply or pay for this honor, or pay to promote their award. Award-winning hospitals and health systems prove that better care is possible and provide an example for other organizations to follow across the industry. The 100 Top Hospitals award winners demonstrate top performance on both how patients are cared for through clinical measures and how the hospital performs as an efficient business. The 100 Top Hospitals report is published annually in March and is available at 100tophospitals.com. The 100 Top Hospitals report can be acquired in combination with the 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals report and may also be customized to reflect a hospital’s specific, criteria-by-criteria measurement as compared to 100 Top Hospitals annual winners. www.billingsclinic.com
Nearly 9,000 additional lives could be saved Nearly 6,000 more heart patients could be complication-free More than $1.4 billion could be saved More information on this study and other 100 Top Hospitals research is available at 100tophospitals.com.
Satsang at the Pubstation
Satsang is a Conscious Music Collective blending world conscious lyrics with a unique blend of Roots Music, Folk, Indie Rock, and Hip- Hop. With a very dedicated fan base and a lot of respect in the music community amongst other artists, Satsang is a band to watch closely. “ - GratefulWeb

Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument
Courtesy of www.visitmt.com Located in southeastern Montana, Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument memorializes the site of the Battle of the Little Bighorn which took place on June 25-26, 1876 between the United States Seventh Cavalry Regiment led by Lt. Col. George Armstrong Custer, and the Sioux and Cheyenne under the political and spiritual leadership of Sitting Bull. The Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument was originally named Custer Battlefield National Monument. President George H.W. Bush renamed the site on December 10, 1991. It is now representative of those who were in the battle, Native Americans and the 7th Cavalry. A visitor center and museum contains exhibits relating to the 1876 Battle of Little Bighorn in which a total of 263 US Cavalrymen, of the regiments 650 men, were
killed in action by Sioux and Northern Cheyenne warriors. Lieutenant Colonel G.A. Custer was killed leading a contingent of 209 men. The Museum features exhibits of the history of the battle, Custer, weapons, archaeology, Plains Indian life, and a walking tour with interpretive markers. It is wheelchair accessible. Adjoining the visitor center is Custer National Cemetery, which includes interments from abandoned frontier military posts, the world wars, Korea and Vietnam. A 4.5 mile self-guiding tour road connects two separate battlefields, the Custer Battlefield and the RenoBenteen Battlefield. Handicapped parking is located at these two locations and at the visitor center. Ranger programs are scheduled throughout the summer, and bus tours of the battlefield operate from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. During the off-season a

Bighorn Battlefield’s website, www. friendslittlebighorn.com.
Hidden western treasures at the Yellowstone County Museum A hidden treasure western history enthusiasts will delight in discovering, the Yellowstone County Museum has exhibits dedicated to ranch life, homesteading, antique firearms, and one of the largest collections of American Indian artifacts in the region. Charting the New Frontier New as of 2014 is “Charting The New Frontier: An Exhibit of Mapping and Surveying the Yellowstone Valley.” In this exhibit history buffs will find a timeline of maps that date from 1778 to 1927 detailing railroad development, mining, fur trade, settlement and exploration. The maps are printed in a high quality, fine art form by Kim Lugthart of Artful History Reproductions in Missoula, MT. The original maps are on loan from William Cole of Cole Law Firm in Billings. Visitors will also find antique surveying equipment with descriptions on loan from Selby’s in Billings. Cattle Drives of Yesteryear A J.K. Ralston original painting, spanning the breadth of the room, is displayed above the Yellowstone County Museum’s (YCM) authentic chuckwagon exhibit. It is a trueto-life depiction of the valley’s first settlers and the gear they brought west. Short-horned beef cattle were trailed into the Yellowstone
River valley from Idaho and Oregon by Charles Yegen in 1879. Beef cattle production became a linchpin industry in Montana Territory once rail service to Billings opened access to eastern markets. The pilot wagon had to be driven by a seasoned guide, often old trappers, explorers, and men who had been in country and knew the trails. Behind the guide came the chuckwagon, driven by the cook. The cook worked out of a converted freight wagon built to house supplies and kitchen tools. Behind the chuckwagon was the bed wagon, piled high with quilts and treated canvas, the forerunners of today’s camping gear. Then came the bawling, tail-twitching mass driven by outriders. A cattle drive could cover about 5 miles per day. Native American Collection Yellowstone County Museum is the kind of museum that tells the stories of the people and places, tools, art, and triumphs and heartache of the early residents, both Native American and settlers, who populated the Yellowstone Valley. The displays are considered some of best of its kind in the state. The museum enjoys expansive space around the building. The patio affords a spectacular view of the Yellowstone Valley. The museum gift shop is full
of Native American reproductions and books of Yellowstone Valley topics. The Yellowstone County Museum is located in the historic McCormick log cabin at 1950 Terminal Circle. Follow the
roundabout through the airport and loop around. Hours are 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Learn more at ycmhistory.org or call 406-256`6811. Free admission.
