What is Food Day?
Think of it as an Earth Day for food!
Food Day is a nationwide celebration and a movement toward more healthy, affordable, and sustainable food. This is a national grassroots mobilization backed by some of the most prominent voices for energizing the food movement. On October 24, 2012, people will gather at events big and small and from coast to coast in homes, schools, colleges, churches, city halls, farmers’ markets, supermarkets, and elsewhere to raise awareness about food issues and advocate for change.
Craving Change?
Spearheaded by the nonprofit Center for Science in the Public Interest, Food Day is organized around five priorities:
1. Promote safer, healthier diets 2. Support sustainable and organic farms 3. Reduce hunger 4. Reform factory farms to protect the environment 5. Support fair working conditions for food and farm workers To learn more about the national Food Day initiative and how to get involved, go to: FoodDay.org
