MESSAGE FROM THE EDITOR
March 2021
Thank you deliverers
Wendover News would like to thank our wonderful deliverers. Many years ago, loyal readers spontaneously asked to deliver Wendover News in their streets to ensure that everyone had a chance to "read all about it" every month. Last December, they became aware of a greater need for Foodbanks in the area so they made a generous Christmas donation of nearly £500. The major collection point in Wendover is Budgens. Sweeney's Budgens owner immediately offerred to extend the gift by supplying essential provisions at cost. At the beginning of February, the first donation was collected, see photo above. Wendover has been part of Chiltern Foodbank since 2013. Churches Together in Wendover make monthly donations and supervise the distribution of food. Wendover Youth Centre has periodically made food collections during lockdowns. Read about the next one on page 15.
Red Lion
At last, the Red Lion refurbishment is about to take place, see photo of A-board in the Car Park (below).
The refurbishment will start in March but as yet we have no proposed end date. Many people have made suggestions to the owners of the Red Lion of how it can be improved so we all hope to see a revitalised gathering space in the heart of Wendover once such activities are again permitted. We're all looking forward to that!
