This month’s WN goes to press just ahead of our open community meeting to form a group which will take the Climate Action Wendover ideas forward into a plan of action, look out for more news on that very soon! Ahead of that; we have planned two Saturday mornings in St. Mary’s Centre & Churchyard, hoping to increase its environmental benefits and to use it as a place to learn and inspire others with ideas that they can use in their own homes and gardens. All will be very welcome at these events! Breakfast items will be on sale!

FREE OFFER! There is a large and well matured compost heap against the churchyard fence (opposite Hampden Pond) – please take as much as you like over the next month. We want to clear this space for a new project, help us by making good use of what’s there.

Saturday 21 March from 9.00am First of 2 events in the churchyard – preparing the ground, building insect/bird boxes, teaching people how to do these things in their own gardens, etc. Re-building the compost area.

HELP NEEDED! Please can you help us with any odds and ends of materials to make bird boxes and bug hotels etc. Anything on this list would be very welcome: Old wooden pallets, strips of wood, straw, moss; woodchips, old terracotta pots/roofing tiles (even if broken); bricks (preferably those with holes through them); old logs, bark, pine cones, sand; hollow bamboo canes, a sheet of roofing felt, planks of wood; dead hollow stems cut from shrubs and herbaceous plants; wildflower seeds.

Please either bring your contributions to St. Mary’s on a Sunday morning (15 March latest) or contact us: climateactionwendover@ gmail.com/ tel. 696136.

Saturday 28 March from 9.00am Second event in the churchyard – principal aims are to plant trees and install the boxes made last week, plus other “wilding” activities. Planting wildflower seeds in segregated areas.
