LINDENGATE
Lindengate Mental Health Charity
Staff and volunteers at Waddesdon Manor have chosen Buckinghamshire-based mental health charity, Lindengate, as Waddesdon Manor’s official charity of the year for 2020.
Based on a five-acre site in Wendover, Lindengate offers specialised gardening activities to help those with mental health needs in their continuing recovery. Lindengate’s services, known as Social & Therapeutic Horticulture, use the healing power of nature and the outdoors to improve mental wellbeing, boost self-esteem & social inclusion and encourage long-term recovery.
With 1 in 4 people in the UK experiencing mental health issues each year, the NHS is considering new ways to help those with mental health needs. Lindengate is unique, being the only facility of its type in the Aylesbury Vale. The award-winning charity supports over 100 service users a week (known to staff at Lindengate as Gardeners), and are forefront in offering an alternative solution to those with a range of mental health needs.
,Simon Wales, Chief Operating Officer at Waddesdon, said "I am delighted to announce that Lindengate are Waddesdon’s Charity of the Year 2020. The charity has been nominated by staff and volunteers every year, showing it is a very popular choice. I am thrilled that we can now show our support to this incredibly important organisation." As the winning charity, Lindengate will receive a grant from the Rothschild Foundation, a grant-making charity based at Waddesdon benefiting Buckinghamshire communities, and support from staff and volunteers at events throughout the year.
Anne Mills, Business Development Manager at Lindengate said, "Lindengate Mental Health Charity is incredibly grateful to have been chosen as Waddesdon’s charity of the year. The partnership will enable us to raise awareness of our unique work within the local community, and raise much needed funds to enable the continuation of vital support to those with mental health needs. We firmly believe that if you nurture nature, nature will nurture you."
