WENDOVER MUSIC
Wendover Music 2021
‘The experience of creating music in the moment.’ That phrase jumped out at me in a recent online blog from the pianist Steven Osborne. Music in the moment – creating and listening to it live – is a precious shared experience for both the performer and the audience. It’s what we sadly missed last season at Wendover Music when we had to cancel everything. So we are hoping that 2021 will change all that! We had a great line-up ready to go last year and we will be recreating three of the four concerts, beginning on 17 April with Steven Osborne - who brings such musical insight to everything he plays - in a recital of works by Debussy and Rachmaninov.
Timothy Ridout is only in his mid-20s, but already has a rapidly expanding international solo career. Critics praise his ‘24-carat dark-gold tone’ on the viola and he will be partnered on 8 May by the ‘mercurially brilliant’ pianist Tom Poster in a programme that includes two Brahms Sonatas.
The London Handel Players will offer us two of Bach’s Brandenburg Concertos on 5 June, along with sonatas and concertos by Handel, Telemann and Vivaldi. This is music that they love and have honed over many years to great acclaim – a real feast of Baroque delights!
Finally, on 10 July, two stellar young artists and a unique partnership. Ema Nikolovska (mezzo-soprano) and Samuele Telari (accordion) are both prizewinners of the prestigious Young Concert Artists Trust. They began performing together last year and their wide ranging programme includes solo and duo pieces from Bach to Rachmaninov - and a selection of cabaret songs.
Full details of the four concerts and how to book tickets are on the Wendover Music website - www.wendover-music.org. Do join us to celebrate the return of live music!
