Review from the Chair

By the time you read this, the new Wendover Parish Council will be in place and a Chairman elected. The Councillors have been elected unopposed as there were too few to need an election. We have spaces, so if you are keen to be involved in the work of the Parish, please contact the Clerk at clerk@wendover-pc.gov.uk for details of applying for co-option. It would be great to have Councillor representation from the Princess Mary Gate estate and Dunsmore areas – could this be you?

On that point, we are very pleased to welcome our new Clerk, Louise Hayday, to join the team in the Clocktower. We look forward to working with her in the coming years and wish her every success in the role. Cllr Sheila Bulpett

Meet our new Clerk Louise Hayday

I was delighted to take up the post of Parish Clerk from 26 April 2021. I have joined the Parish Council at an interesting time: a new Council, a post-Covid world, HS2, the closure of RAF Halton and a climate emergency are going to give me the challenges that I thrive on. I look forward to providing support for the local community and assisting the Wendover Councillors in implementing the voice of the local people.

I have lived in Buckinghamshire since my Dad was posted to RAF Naphill back in 1990, I spent many years living in Prestwood, followed by Little Missenden and then later moved to Chesham where I raised my two children and still live today.

Up until recently my career has been hospitality focused. In 2013 I took up the post of General Manager at Burnham Parish Council, managing their community venue. It was there that I learnt a lot about the work of a Parish Council and my interest was sparked in becoming more involved in the inner workings of the Council. When the role of Clerk for Wendover came up I thought it seemed the perfect fit and exactly what I was looking for, and so here I am now!

In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my grandson, live music, and have recently taught myself to crochet. (With a lot of help from YouTube!)

Anti-Social Behaviour

Wendover Parish Council have seen a significant increase in anti-social behaviour and vandalism over the last few weeks. •Cars have been vandalised overnight on two separate occasions at Princess Mary Gate and also in the Witchell car park. •The Unknown Tommy Statue in the community orchard was mindlessly vandalised over the first weekend in May, causing unrepairable damage. •Lifesaving equipment was removed from Hampden Pond. •Overnight on 14 May two picnic tables were vandalised at Hampden Meadow •Our community open spaces are being ruined for the majority by the minority leaving litter and broken glass on the ground.

If you witness anyone causing damage to property, please report it to TVP via 101, or if dangerous or life threatening then please call 999.

It is important that incidents are reported in order for our local police to build a picture of what is happening in our local area and use their available manpower accordingly.
