Harpenden: From Village to Town: 1860-1914

An exhibition telling the story of how Harpenden in the period up to WW1 was transformed from a rural village to a town. Triggered by the coming of the railways, when the population tripled and the core of the Town we know today was created.
The story is explained and illustrated through displays, and commentary on original photos, maps, documents and individual memories from Society archives.
