Sledging, Santa, Snowmen & More The Snowman 16th Dec 3pm A screening of the film with the Harpenden Concert Band performing Howard Blake's score. Forty years ago, Raymond Briggs' picture book 'The Snowman' was first published in the UK. In 1982 it was adapted into a 26 minute animated TV show, scored by Howard Blake. The story is told through pictures, actions and music and like the book is wordless, except for the song 'Walking in the Air'. St Albans Mummers Boxing Day For over 40 years the St Albans Mummers have performed their unique version of St George and the Dragon on Boxing Day in various locations in the city centre. The tradition started in 1967 when a group of friends decided to revive the ancient custom of the Mummers play. Today the play is the same as it was then but every performance is different as the players include topical material and interact with the audience.
