Event Cinema The Royal Opera House Live: Swan Lake 1st April 7.15pm Prince Siegfried chances upon a flock of swans while out hunting, when one of them turns into a beautiful woman and he is enraptured. But she is under a spell that holds her captive, allowing her to regain her human form only at night. Exhibition on Screen: Easter in Art 7th April 8.15pm 9th April 3.15pm A stunning film on one of the most significant events in history - displaying some of the greatest artworks ever produced. Exhibition on Screen: Easter in Art This beautifully crafted film explores the art of the Easter story, from the time of the early Christians to the present day. Shot on location in Jerusalem, the USA and throughout Europe, it explores the different interpretations of Easter through the ages. The Metropolitan Opera Live: Tosca 11th April 7.55pm Puccini’s melodrama about a volatile diva, a sadistic police chief, and an idealistic artist has offended and thrilled audiences for more than a century. With its rather grungy subject matter, the directness and intensity of its score, and the crowd-pleasing dramatic opportunities have made it one of a handful of iconic works that seem to represent opera in the public imagination. Live from the Royal Albert Hall: David Attenborough: A Life on Our Planet 16th April 7.15pm This film will be followed by a Q&A with David Attenborough himself, live from the Royal Albert Hall. In his 93 years he has visited every continent and has explored and documented from the wildest of places. For the first time, he reflects upon the defining moments of his lifetime as a naturalist and the devastating changes he has seen. Honest, revealing and urgent – this is a stirring first-hand account of humanity's impact on nature and his hopeful message to future generations. The Royal Opera House Live: Cavalleria rusticana/Pagliacci (Opera) 21st April 7pm Damiano Michieletto’s Olivier Award-winning production of Mascagni’s greatest opera tells a tragic tale of forsaken love and violent revenge. The Barn Theatre City of Tomorrow 24th April - 2nd May 100 years of England - comic, tragic, farcical and thrilling - seen through the history of the Garden City. Two kids from either side of the tracks, meet and as they quarrel, banter and flirt their way round the landmarks of their birthplace, the ghosts of the past century come alive. We see the Garden City’s founders in a bluebell meadow, dreaming of future ways of life, the early joys of dances and drama clubs, the darker shadows of looming war; then the black-shirts, the welcoming of refugees, the onslaught of technology and the Market, the rise of celebrity culture and the dark shadows of the web.
