Greeting from the President & CEO and Chair Greetings Chamber Members and Friends, The fall is well under way and the Chamber is humming with the energy of exciting announcements and events. As you know, the Chamber Board and staff spent the last few months participating in a strategic planning initiative that will help determine the direction of the Chamber for the next five years. We want to thank all those who took the time to complete the membership survey so we can understand what the priorities and concerns of our members are. We will be announcing our new mission and vision statements in the coming weeks along with the areas where we will focus our energy to bring even greater value to Chamber membership. Stay tuned! We also want to update you on our search for a Director of Membership Services. Thank you to Rakesh Naidu the more than 50 individuals who submitted their resume for this position. We will be announcing the President & CEO new Director very soon. Once the Director is in place, we will be hiring for a newly created position at the Chamber – Member Development Executive. I invite you to spread the word about this new position. We will start accepting resumes in mid-November. Board Chair, Jason Ilijanic, and I were able to attend the Canadian Chamber of Commerce Annual General Meeting in Saint John, NB. It was an incredible opportunity to network with other Chamber representatives. It became immensely apparent just how strong the Chamber network across Canada is and how this network is able to influence federal policy. With the Federal Election just behind us, the Chamber will be reaching out to all levels of government to provide opportunities for our members to voice their concerns and give feedback about doing business in the Windsor-Essex region. Finally, I invite you to review our upcoming events on the next page of this issue or online at Jason Ilijanic windsoressexchamber.org. I always enjoy meeting our members and receiving input about how we Chair can make the Chamber even better.

SPOTLIGHT On Our Members

The economy in Windsor-Essex has been on the rise for many years now, partly due to a booming US economy. For MCO Partners, a specialized tax firm providing personal and corporate tax services to Canadian and US clients, there has been strong upward momentum. They provide personal and corporate tax preparation and planning, HST services, SR&ED. Basically, if it's related to tax, they do it. Founded by well-known local accountant Ed Miles, CPA, the th Windsor firm is entering its 20 year in Windsor, and has grown to over 20 partners, employees, and associates. According to Miles, “Opening our Michigan CPA firm with a Michigan-licensed CPA a few years ago really allowed us to reach so many new clients that needed our services. Business just took off”.

COMMUNITY BUILDER Jeremy Bonnamant moved to Windsor with his wife and five children in winter 2018. A native of France and a natural entrepreneur, Jeremy sought to find a business opportunity that would support his family while also benefiting the residents of the Windsor-Essex community. While looking to replace the tires on his own vehicle, he noticed that the price of new tires in the region was incredibly high. He then researched where to buy used tires in Windsor and didn’t find any good options. Jeremy connected with an old friend who could supply him with discontinued gently-used tires et voila! Quality Used Tires was born. Jeremy officially opened his new business venture in October 2019 and immediately sold all of his stock. He receives new shipments monthly including Michelin, Goodyear, Firestone, Bridgestone etc. Tire sizes range from 14 to 21 inches with prices between $35 and $65 dollars per tire.

That growth positioned the firm as an attractive place to work for some of the best local CPAs in the tax area. The firm's partners are all tax experts with an average of 25 years of experience. For younger accountants serious about tax, there is no substitute for being able to work closely with these partners. “I think we're known locally for doing great tax work, and that can only be done with a great team”, says Ian Murphy, a tax partner in the Windsor office.

All Quality Used Tires products are certified to Canadian Safety Standards with 70-90% tread still remaining on each tire.
