Finally, Comms Connect comes to Sydney ... The national conference and exhibition will still take place in Melbourne in October 2014, but on 18-19 June, the Australian Technology Park plays host to the very first Comms Connect outside Melbourne. The aim of this satellite event is to ensure that those who aren’t able to visit Melbourne can still gain access to the wealth of knowledge generated for the conference and workshops and to the technologies available on the exhibition floor. At the core of Comms Connect is still radio communications, its uses, applications and benefits, but with the convergence of technologies being seen in recent times — from IP to mobile broadband and more — the show is no longer just about two-way radio, but a whole range of technologies and solutions — all of which can be found in the exhibition and learned about during the conference and workshops. The range of topics discussed during the conference and workshops, and the quality and scope of products and services on display in the exhibition, are not available at other shows in this focused and dedicated way. By taking part, Comms Connect will deliver you, the sponsors and exhibitors, access to a very broad range of users, consultants, communications dealers and industry professionals. With a world-class line-up of speakers, three days of workshops, technical papers, case studies, discussions and keynotes, all positioned within close proximity to the region’s leading radio and converged communications exhibition, the event continues to offer you the ideal platform to market your products and services to a highly targeted audience.

why should you be involved? A snapshot of Comms Connect 2013, Melbourne • an exhibition covering 3000 m2 • with over 90 exhibitors • hosting over 1200 attending delegates, speakers and exhibitors • with representatives from 18 countries helped shape the largest and most successful radio and converged communications industry event held to date, that once again delivered an audience our exhibitors and sponsors wanted to meet with.
...some feedback from 2013 “Best Yet! While we would always like more visitor traffic, there is always a bit of luck in getting the right location. The Comms Connect Team were brilliant, nothing was a problem and they genuinely wanted to assist where ever they could. Possibly the best organised conference I have attended anywhere.” Paul Daigneault, MiMOMax Wireless “Very well organised, everything was done very professionally.” Willem van Heerden, Innovative Energies “Comms Connect is vital to our business as not only does it allow us to meet new clients and catch up with existing ones, it allows us to see how big the industry is getting year on year which helps us greatly when planning future products.” Ronan Rafferty, Kenwood “An excellent event overall, basically every person we spoke with was very satisfied with the event and were keen to see more and be involved.” Ian Miller, ARCIA

how do we attract this audience for you? To help attract the right individuals to an event, you need great content marketed to the best possible audience — Comms Connect achieves this. By delivering a first-rate conference line-up in a user-friendly, costeffective format, along with a world-class exhibition, we make it hard for potential visitors and delegates not to attend. Visitor and delegate numbers are increasing year on year, with 2013 seeing almost 35% more visitors to the exhibition. While some visitors return year on year, many are first-time visitors as new projects come on tap and upgrades take place — this means year on year you make new contacts and gather new leads.

event marketing As publisher of Critical Comms and its associated portal CriticalComms. com.au, it’s our job to understand the market and know our readers and members. Direct access to this audience enables us to focus in on and target numerous stakeholder groups like no other event organiser in the space. Comms Connect is promoted using a varied and extensive mix of available media: Direct mail and eDM campaigns take place in the weeks and months running up to the event, targeting extensive lists of potential delegates drawn from numerous sources. These include WF Media’s in-house databases, in addition to up-to-date lists brought from leading list rental companies. Personalised letters, flyers and brochures are distributed in their tens of thousands to potential and previous delegates and visitors. Print advertising plays a very important role in the marketing of Comms Connect. Carefully chosen titles, both in-house and external to WF Media’s stable, are targeted with advertising and editorial in the lead-up to the event to ensure that those with responsibility are made aware of when and where Comms Connect is taking place and what they can see and learn by attending. Digital media, including LinkedIn, Google AdWords, along with advertising on traditional targeted websites, is used to help attract and expose potential visitors to the Comms Connect message. Telemarketing is an integral and key element of our marketing strategy. Previous delegates and visitors, along with end users and industry stakeholders in numerous vertical sectors — from the mining and resource sectors to public safety and government — are identified and targeted by our experienced telemarketing team to ensure they know when and where Comms Connect takes place and what the benefits of attending will be. Exhibitors and sponsors have discounted entry passes made available for clients and prospects to encourage attendance and help attract key personnel that should be at the event. Hard and soft copies of flyers for event promotion with special offers are made available well in advance to help encourage attendance. Our exhibitors and sponsors play a very important role in spreading the message about Comms Connect. We actively encourage you to promote your attendance as this is your chance to help make your involvement even more rewarding by showing your prospects what you are capable of on neutral ground. We will supply all exhibitors and sponsors with the Comms Connect 2014 logo to host on your company website with a hyperlink to the event website to help promote the event and your attendance at the event. Call us today to discuss how you can take part in the promotion of Comms Connect 2014.

Industry Support Australian Radio Communications Industry Association Since the launch of (Radio)Comms Connect in 2007, ARCIA has worked with and endorsed this critical event in the radio and converged communications calendar. The process of mutual support continues in 2014 with the Australian Radio Communications Industry Association’s Industry Gala Dinner being held in the same venue in Melbourne and in Sydney, ARCIA will hold its annual networking function on the evening of the new Comms Connect Sydney satellite event. We are again extremely pleased that the industry’s peak body, ARCIA, is once again in support and lending its voice to the 2014 events, taking part at both, in the conference proceedings and the exhibitions for what will be the 8th consecutive year. Dinner... where and when? The ARCIA Industry Gala Dinner will take place on the evening of 1 October in the Plenary at the Melbourne Convention Centre. The Sydney Networking Dinner will take place on 18 June in the Docklands Restaurant at Cockle Bay Wharf. For further information, visit: arcia.org.au. Comms Connect continues to work with media partners and a number of other relevant associations and organisations to help bring about the greatest level of exposure possible to ensure that those involved with or affected by the industry are able to take part in Comms Connect conference and exhibitions.
