As we prepare for 2023, we wanted to take some time to capture this year's golf season in a document for everyone to read. In this "Year in Review," you will see event photos, a list of champions, and other significant Wexford golf news. Overall it was another busy year with tournaments, lessons, staff changes, international trips, hurricanes, and more.
New records were set, starting with the Valentines Nine & Dine as 96 players rekindled their romantic feelings for each other. And the Men's Member Guest witnessed a high of 111 members registering to play, if only we knew what the future held for the event. Unfortunately, the weather was a significant factor this year. First, significant rain in March canceled the WWGA Spring Opener and Glow Golf. Then Hurricane Ian postponed the Men's Member Guest to November, and not to be outdone, Tropical Storm Nicole came through to cancel the rescheduled Member Guest for this year.
Wexford once again hosted the RBC Pro-Am featuring Collin Morikawa and Harold Varner III, to name a few. In June, I joined 19 Wexford members across the pond in Scotland to enjoy some great golf, beautiful sights, and even a pint or two.
We had some welcomed staff additions -- Elisabeth, Hunter, Evan, Rich, and Michael K. I tried my luck at the Professionals Championship in Austin, Texas; unfortunately, a bad round derailed my chances of making the cut, but I had a great experience playing in our PGA National Championship.
2023 should prove to be another banner year with a revamped tournament schedule (listed in the back of this document), a re-designed Hole #4, trip to SW Ireland, hopefully a Member Guest, more teaching, and much more.
