Inthis"YearinReview,"youwillseeevent photos(toomany),alistofchampions,andsignificantWexfordgolfnews.Overall,itwasanotherbusyyear oftournaments,lessons,men’s&women’sgolf,staffaccomplishments,andmore.
Theeventschedulewasloadedwithmajors,matchplayevents,nine&dines,andsomuchmore.Theplayer oftheyearforthefirsthalfwas“LongBallHitting”LesJones,whoteamedupwithBobCherichellatowin theMen’sMemberMember.HethendefeatedVinceSullivaninthefinalsofthe1983WexfordCuptoclaim thattitle.Anewrecordregistrationof116menregisteredfortheMen’sMemberGuest,with72gainingentry intotheeventfortheSeptemberevent.Bytheevent’sconclusion,theSwartsteamoutlastedtheotherflight winnersandachievedredemptionfromtheprioryeartowinthechampionshiptitle. TheWexford Intercollegiateheldtheir19thannualevent,withtheGeorgiaStateteamwinningthisyear’steamtitle.Yale BrayandDavidMcPhailwontheMember-AmateureventwithEastCarolina. Yalewasnotdoneashe cappedoffhisyearwinningtheRingerRingerwithRonSoldo.Forthe2ndyear,theMen’sGolfAssociation (MGA),ledbyDavidJackson,continuedtheirtournamentscheduleandaddedanewtournamentfinale. Theycontestedeventswithvariousformatstoentertainthemembership.TheGolfCommitteeandthegolf staffareworkingonthenextyear’sdatesandformats.
TheWexfordWomen’sGolfAssociationkeepsgrowingwithalmost130memberstostartthe2025year.A revampedeventschedulehelmedbytheirWWGAPresidentMCMcEvoyledtorecordturnoutthroughout theyear.IntheLadiesInvitational,80ladiesenjoyedsomegolf,lotsoflaugh,and“Glampingunderthe stars.”TheSealeteamrepeatedintheOverallGrossandtheBoorom/EtheridgeteamwontheoverallNet title.IntheBroadCreekclassic,theladiesversionoftheMemberMember,theKathyAlexanderandKaren Kellyteamtookhomethetitle.Inthe9Holedivision,ChristineWileyandJeanGarrellwerethechamps.
