Giant snowman towers in Assiniboia One home in Assiniboia found a good use for all of the snow that fell over the October 7 to 10 long weekend. This giant snowman had apples for eyes, a carrot nose and a hat and scarf. The house is located near the Elementary School, providing an attraction for children and adults alike. Assiniboia received 53.7 mm of snowfall between October 3 to 10, according to Environment Canada. For the rest of the month, the weather in Assiniboia won’t be favourable for any snowmen. Temperatures are expected to stay in the teens for at least a week and remain above zero for the rest of the month and into early November. Photo by Marusia Kaweski

School Notes Roxy Johnston came to the school to speak to the Grade 6 to 12 students.

Roxy shared a terrific message with the students about inclusion and celebrating diversity. The key message focused on shunning, accepting or celebrating diversity. It’s so important for the school to celebrate diversity and to be open to new experiences and cultures, and for the staff and students to feel accepted for who they are no matter what. In a small school, it can be difficult at times for students to fit in or to feel accepted so this was a small step in making a difference in the school. Mankota is participating in the Farm Credit Corporation Drive Away Hunger campaign. They were asking for donations of food for the Swift Current Food Bank.
