Donations being collected to help Fillmore family
By Sheaunid Wiggins, 306-722-3642 F i l l m o r e – B LT Catering has started collecting donations to help the Beckstead family out, as Quinton and Vanessa Beckstead and their children, Cooper and Brysen, lost their family home in
a devastating house fire on September 28. The fire department, ambulance and police stood by them and kept them safe, and nobody was hurt in the fire. Del Hancock has sold her house to Troy Fisher and moved to Regina. Jody Wiggins is home
after a three-week stay in a Regina hospital. Brad and Sue Hart of Vancouver and Glenda and Dave Lange of Kelowna, B.C., visited their mother, Flo Hart, in the Fillmore Health Care Centre, and brother Cam Hart, on the Sept. 25 weekend.

Approximately 78 per cent of all new COVID cases and hospitalizations in Saskatchewan in September were unvaccinated or partially vaccinated people. Transmissible diseases like COVID-19 are opportunistic: they will spread to and among under- and unvaccinated populations. The Ministry of Health has updated the COVID-19 vaccination and breakthrough information for September 1-30. Highlights include: • Of the 13,141 cases reported in September, 10,237 (77.9 per cent) were unvaccinated or tested positive within three weeks of receiving their first vaccination, and 913
cases (6.9 per cent) were partially vaccinated with one dose, while 2,904 cases (22.1 per cent) were fully vaccinated. Of the 2,904 cases with a second dose, 11 per cent (320) had comorbid conditions and 21.2 per cent (616) were 70 years and older. There were 280 active cases in the southeast region, and 84 in the Weyburn area, with 14 new cases for the southeast and four new cases in Weyburn as of Oct. 5. • Of the 449 individuals hospitalized with COVID-19, 348 (77.6 per cent) were unvaccinated or tested positive within three weeks of receiving their first vaccination. Twenty cases (4.5 per
cent) were partially vaccinated with one dose, while 101 cases (22.5 per cent) were fully vaccinated. There were 10 people in hospital in the southeast region for COVID. • Among the cases reported in September, 72 individuals passed away; 35 were unvaccinated or less than three weeks after their first vaccination. H o u s e h o l d g a t h e rings remain the primary source of transmission of COVID-19 in Saskatchewan. Public health officials are asking all residents to take precautions to break the chain of transmission and prevent further pressures on health care system capacity.
