Staff and students at Assiniboia Park Elementary School held a crazy spirit day on April 28, and they dressed up for “Fake an Injury Day”, displaying assorted fake injuries from cuts and bruises to broken bones. This is the French Immersion Grades 1/2 class, with teacher Caroline Gillies getting into the act at right.
Ministerial Message: Head knowledge or heart transformation
Submitted by Pastor Cam Weber, Weyburn Ministerial Association Having just celebrated Easter season and Jesus’ death and resurrection, now what do I do, just go back to life as it was before, or have the events of Easter changed the way I live my life? The disciples of Jesus had followed and lived with him for three years, they had experienced Jesus heal people, set people free from demonic oppression and even raise people from the dead.
Jesus had told them what was about to happen to him, and what was to happen in the future. Yet they were surprised and confused when he was taken by the religious leaders of the day and sentenced to death by the government of the day, despite having done no wrong. They did not understand, and what were they to do now that their leader was dead? Even after Jesus appeared to them, after he rose from the dead bodily and showed them his nail prints in his hands
Provincial minimum wage to increase to $13/hr in October The provincial minimum wage will increase from $11.81 to $13 per hour on October 1, 2022. “World events continue to put upward pressure on the cost of living in Saskatchewan and across Canada,” Labour Relations and Workplace Safety Minister Don Morgan said. “Our government is committed to ensuring life is affordable for our low-income residents by increasing the minimum wage over the next three years. This commitment to affordability will support Saskatchewan workers, and ensure Saskatchewan is the best place to live, work, and raise a family.” On October 1, 2023, minimum wage will increase to $14 per hour and on October 1, 2024, it will increase to $15 per hour. This will represent a 27 per cent increase to the minimum wage by 2024. In response to this announcement, CUPE Saskatchewan called for an immediate increase of the minimum wage in Saskatchewan to $15 per hour.
“Saskatchewan workers need relief now, not in months or years from now. At $11.81 per hour, full-time workers can’t afford the basic costs of living and are increasingly relying on food banks to feed their families,” said Judy Henley, president of CUPE Saskatchewan. The increases to minimum wage reflect a market adjustment, rather than using the province’s traditional indexation formula. The indexation formula gives equal weight to changes to the Consumer Price Index and Average Hourly Wage for Saskatchewan. However, for this year as well as 2023 and 2024, the increase to minimum wage will reflect a move to more closely align workers’ salaries with changing market forces. “As we continue to grow Saskatchewan, we want to attract quality investments and jobs so that all citizens can benefit. Making this change to the minimum wage is a step in that direction,” said Minister Morgan.
and feet (Luke 24: 33-53), they did not understand and believe. Verse 40 said, “And when he had spoken, he showed them his hands and his feet. And while they yet believed not, for joy and wondering, he said unto them … These are the words which I spoke unto you while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the law of Moses and in the prophets, and in the psalms concerning me. Then opened he their understanding that they might understand the scriptures.” That got me to thinking about people today, as many know about Jesus, his death and resurrection. Some have even gone to

Bible college and seminary for one to six years studying and analyzing the Bible and Jesus’ life, and then gone back to life as usual just having gained head knowledge. What made the difference in Jesus disciples’ lives that transformed them, and caused them to understand what he had said and be witness that turned the world upside down for him? If we go back to that passage from Luke 24:45, it tells us, “Then he opened their understanding that they might understand the scriptures.” The same account in the book of John 20:22 says, “And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and said unto them, Receive
ye the Holy Ghost.” We see the disciples even though they had been with Jesus for three years and had heard his teaching, and seen his miracles, they didn’t understand the scriptures until they received the Holy Spirit. Is the same true today? People hear about Jesus, even go to college and seminary and have great head knowledge about the Bible, but yet it does not transform their lives like the early disciples. I believe as in the time of Jesus we need the Holy Spirit to come into our lives to transform us from the inside out (John 16:7-15), and unless he does, we will not understand spiritual things. The Holy Spirit will open our
understanding so we will truly know who Jesus is and he will reveal the Heavenly Father to us. From this relationship we will get to know and experience our Heavenly Father. Just like you can’t really know a person by reading about them in a book, you need to meet and get to know them in person to really know someone. This is Pastor Cameron Weber asking, have you asked Jesus to forgive your sins and give you the Holy Spirit to live in your heart and reveal the Heavenly Father to you through relationship with him? If you truly want a relationship with our Heavenly Father, ask Jesus into your heart today!!
