Assiniboia Skating Club hosts ‘A Night at the Movies’ Carnival Courtesy of Assiniboia Skate Club The Assiniboia Skating Club held their annual carnival on February 9 with the theme for this year being “A Night at the Movies”. The evening featured many talented skaters who have worked hard all year to perfect their skills. Two guest skaters, Brayden Bader and Eric Swalm, added to the entertainment of the evening. Award winners for this year included: Jessica Beaubien, 10 years of commitment to ASC; Kayley Beaubien- 10 years of commitment to ASC; Samantha Engstrom, Star Skater of the year.; Sarah Chen, Barb Peterson Memorial award; and Cassia Delorme, CanSkater of the Year.

Trae DeDecker, player for the Richardson Pioneer Junior B Rebels, was recently presented the Barry Karst scholarship for continued education by Scott Bleuins, during a ceremony at the Southland Co-op Centre on February 5. He received this award as the most dedicated player.

The Richardson Pioneer Junior B Rebels had another great weekend of hockey as they advanced to the PJHL playoffs, after winning 5-2 against the Pilot Butte Storm. Goals were made by Keellan Bates three times,
and one each by Carter Tuplin and Jake Stark. Goaltender Carver Ottenbrieit made 30 saves for the Rebels victory. They will move on to Prairie Junior Hockey League playoffs. Scheduling to be announced.
