NOEA The National Outdoor Events Association MEMBERSHIP of the National Outdoor Events Association continues to rise, reinforcing its position as one of the industry's leading trade associations. NOEA members represent all sectors of the industry – including local authorities, show and event organisers, entertainment agents, event management companies and suppliers of equipment and services generally. The NOEA President is Richard Limb, Director of Leisure Safety, Capita Symonds. Glastonbury Case Study Without doubt the most iconic music festival of all, Glastonbury generates some impressive statistics. 220,000 people on a site covering more than 20 sq. Km requires serious infrastructure and communications are critical. CBAS delivers high speed Internet access and site-wide networks serving production, management, emergency services, artists, concessions, information points and public access. There is no limit to demand for functionality and new features are being added each year including meteorological and environmental monitoring, telemetry for water supplies and power generation and specialised services for media delivery.

Telephony is vitally important to the festival. 240 handsets were installed in 2010, all managed via our on site PBX and data centre based in London. High usage VoIP can be difficult to deploy at remote sites however the CBAS system was able to deliver 99.9% reliability. Over the same core network that provided IT and telephony services, CBAS also provided a total of 55 wireless CCTV cameras located on site for safety and security and off site for traffic management. The cameras were monitored and recorded at the on-site operations centre. For many reasons it is inconceivable that Glastonbury could operate without a cutting edge IT network service however there are other benefits. In just four years the festival has shed over 70Km of consumable copper cable in favour of wireless technology. The carbon saving has been huge, probably one of the biggest single contributions to the festival's environmental mission. CBAS is proud to have been a major contributor to that initiative.
