Grieving Jason’s tragic video goes viral By Josh Timlin A VIDEO posted by the grieving fiance of an 18year-old who lost her life in a tragic accident has hit out at online trolls. Grace Dyson, of Dunford Road, Holmfirth, was knocked into the road when partner Jason Booth opened an umbrella on August 29 of last year. The ‘inseparable’ pair were walking along Springwood Road, Thongsbridge, when she fatally stumbled into the path of an oncoming Nissan van. In a terrible twist of fate, the van driver was actually Grace’s uncle, Ivan Beaumont. But Jason, also of Holmfirth, has come under criticism from vile trolls on social media. He has responded with a video – dubbed ‘Think Before You Type’ – urging them to think about the
effects of their actions. He said: “I am not looking for sympathy. I am looking to reintroduce a couple of concepts to people, concepts that unfortunately seem to be lacking in this world: respect and common sense. “Thankfully these come naturally to many people, but seemingly not to others. In a split-second tragedy, the life I had chosen was taken from me, right in front of my eyes. “My umbrella got caught on the wall. It sent me falling into my fiancee, who then fell into the path of an oncoming vehicle. An accident, a tragedy, and nobody to blame. “My beautiful fiancee, a cherished daughter and sister, a loving friend that many are honoured to have known and now another bright star in the sky.” The video, set to Grace’s music and with images of the couple throughout, also
goes on to feature screenshots of the comments the trolls left Jason in the aftermath of the accident, with many poking fun at the incident. “After first reading these, I cried,” Mr Booth adds. “I was shaking with anger. What right have they got to do that? To them it was just a story. To them, Grace was just a character in that story. But this is not fictional, it is not a joke, it is a real-life tragedy.” Having now been viewed over 50,000 times, he has called on people to stand up to ‘keyboard warriors’ and thanked the public for their response to the video. “Take an extra second to think before you start typing away,” he concludes. “I ask one thing of you – to follow just slightly in Grace’s footsteps by having some respect and care for other people. Other people’s tragedies are not your stories or jokes.”
