Equine
I completed the BSc degree in Equine. The results have been absolutely rewarding.
After earning my degree from Askham Bryan College, I set up my own equine company, Blueberry Events. My business has been a success from the start. My chosen degree pathway was the best route for me. It gave me insight into the equine industry and triggered my decision go out on my own. My work caters to a demand in the Yorkshire market and beyond, and with what I’ve learned on the programme, my business has grown from strength to strength.
I continue to keep in touch with the College since graduating; my horses are used for current equine students on the programme and I can never pass up the great equine competitions that are held at the College! The Equine Team have been very supportive of my work, to which I am very grateful.

Progressive science and developments in precision farming technology, alongside wider environmental considerations and diverse business enterprises, focus the need for the development of highly skilled, technically-competent graduates.
Factors such as global population growth, economic and political shifts, as well as environmental change and rapid developments in technology emphasise the need for resilient and adaptive graduates in agriculture.
This is not only reflected in the growing number of graduates required, but also in the increasingly diverse range of careers available to them. Recent graduates have been offered positions as assistant farm managers, trainee consultants in crop and livestock production, trainee agronomists and trainee business consultants, while others have found employment in livestock auction markets and agricultural retail and supply businesses.
