MENINKILTS A ROADTRIP WITH SAM AND GRAHAM

Tina Fey And Amy Poehler Are Back As Golden Globes Hosts. By Jeff Pfeiffer As with everything these days, the 78th Annual Golden Globes ceremony — where the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) honors the best in film and television — will be different in a few ways this year. It is airing much later than usual; the ceremony is usually held in January as one of the events kicking off awards season, but will now be held on Feb. 28 (airing on NBC). Also, the eligibility period for motion pictures has been extended to include movies released through the date of the ceremony (the television eligibility period ended on Dec. 31). In terms of the ceremony’s presentation, details on any changes were not available at

presstime, and neither were nominees (they will be announced Feb. 3). One major element of this year’s Golden Globes that will help offset the changes and bring some sense of normalcy is the welcome return of Tina Fey and Amy Poehler as hosts. The two were critically applauded and loved by viewers during their stints hosting the awards from 2013-15, thanks to their witty onstage banter and effortless rapport with each other. “There’s no denying that Tina and Amy’s comedic chemistry is infectious,” said former HFPA president Lorenzo Soria. “We can’t wait to see the dynamic duo return to the Golden Globes stage.” Neither can viewers.

Casablanca (1942) — Feb. 12

It’s still the same old story, but after nearly 80 years, this Best Picture Oscar-winning classic filled with drama, suspense and romance retains its position as one of the finest films ever produced — not to mention retaining its ability to have you reaching for a hanky with its tale of love and sacrifice in the early days of World War II. The romantic triangle among passionately heroic Czech resistance leader Victor Laszlo (Paul Henreid), his beautiful wife Ilsa (Ingrid Bergman) and her ex-lover, cynical American Rick Blaine (Best Actor Oscar nominee Humphrey Bogart), is as emotionally compelling as ever, thanks to electrifying performances from the leads (and from scene-stealing Best Supporting Actor nominee Claude Rains) and one memorable line after another courtesy of the film’s Oscar-winning screenplay. Casablanca is one of those films you’ll never get tired of playing again.

Both are caught up in the tidal wav e of history between the y ears prior to W orld War I and the Russian C ivil War of 191 8-22. Maurice Jarre’s score e arned one of th e film’s five Academy Awa rds out of the 10 for which it was nominated .

This is one of three beloved romantic comedies Doris Day, Rock Hudson and Tony Randall teamed up for in the late 1950s and early ’60s. It’s an outrageously funny tale of mistaken identity that received an Oscar nomination for its screenplay. Day and Hudson play Carol and Jerry, rival advertising executives who dislike each other’s tactics. 5

TIPS FOR USING TIVO

®

A TiVo DVR is more than just a set-top box that also records live TV. With a number of features that make your TV-watching better — from recommendations for new shows based on the shows you currently watch, to remotely scheduling recordings with the TiVo app, to pausing a show in one room and continuing it in another using a TiVo Mini — there’s a lot you can do with the TiVo Experience. Here’s a handy tip that will help you get the most out of your TiVo system. Watch this space for additional tips in later months. Link Your Streaming Apps: Get more from a single search by connecting the streaming apps you subscribe to — like Netflix, Hulu, Showtime Anytime, Prime Video and more — to your TiVo DVR. And check out the free apps available directly through your TiVo, such as Tubi, YouTube Kids and Ameba. After you’ve connected the apps, when you search for a specific show or actor, your TiVo system will search across select streaming apps, as well as live TV, your recordings and Midco ON Demand. It’s the easiest way to find what you want to watch.

Services may not be available in all areas, and some restrictions apply. Number of available channels may vary by area and cable package. Please refer to your local channel lineup for details.
