Taking on this role made me such a massive fan because she’s so wonderful in talking about women’s empowerment, women supporting women, and just doing amazing philanthropy. ... What really spoke to me was that she’s this incredibly intelligent, strong, brilliant Harry & woman who is doing good in the world and Meghan found a partner that wanted to do the same Lifetime, Monday, thing. That’s what really made me have a May 27 strong connection to them in this story.

Tiffany Smith: I started paying attention when a couple of my friends in New York were like, “We watch this show called Suits, and we love it. ... There’s this actress on it that reminds us a lot of you.” So that was where I first heard about her. I wasn’t a massive royal follower, though I obviously knew they got engaged.

Series & Season Finales The Big Bang Theory’s original cast members: Kunal Nayyar, Simon Helberg, Jim Parsons, Johnny Galecki and Kaley Cuoco

The BIG Farewell Kaley Cuoco’s unreserved laughter rings through the cool February air in Culver City, Calif., where she stands alongside costar Johnny Galecki during their final TV Guide Magazine cover shoot for The Big Bang Theory. The beloved hit CBS comedy, about a group of science nerds and the women who love — and challenge — them, will air its 279th and final episode on Thursday, May 16. Cuoco’s upbeat mood is helping to keep sadder feelings about the show’s end at bay … for now. And to think, one of the most popular series in history almost didn’t make it on the air. A failed pilot for the 2006-07 season starred Galecki as nebbishy experimental physicist Leonard Hofstadter and Jim Parsons as his prickly roommate, theoretical physicist Sheldon Cooper; nobody else from the current cast was involved. The pilot was retooled, adding Cuoco’s struggling actress (now a pharmaceutical rep) Penny (her last name has never been revealed), plus the roommates’ equally geeky friends, aerospace engineer Howard Wolowitz (Simon Helberg) and astrophysicist Rajesh Koothrappali (Kunal Nayyar). Premiering on Sept. 24, 2007, Big Bang peaked at an average of 20.4 million viewers for the 2015-16 season, earned 52 Emmy nods (with four Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy wins for Parsons) and launched a hit prequel (Young Sheldon). 4

So how did a show that made nerds cool become such a phenomenon? “‘The Big Bang Theory’ uniquely brought tens of millions of people together every Thursday night,” says Kelly Kahl, president of CBS Entertainment. “I think the longer the show ran, the more the audience saw of themselves in the characters.” Here the gang looks back. JIM PARSONS: I recall feeling like I was walking on a tightrope for that first audition. The dialogue was so dense — to me, at least — and had lots of multisyllable words. I had never met Johnny, [but] as soon as we read through the scene, I thought he was the one. I just felt it. Thankfully, everyone else agreed. PETER ROTH (president/chief content officer, Warner Bros. Television Group): In the first pilot, the character of Penny [originally named Katie] was not as appealing as that proverbial girl next door. It was not the actress [Amanda Walsh] but rather the conceit of the character. Fortunately, Nina Tassler, then president of CBS Entertainment, realized we had something very special and said, “Let’s do it again.” KALEY CUOCO: I didn’t get [the role of Katie] the first time around. I was too young, which I love saying because I don’t get to say that I’m too young anymore. [Laughs] Then, a year later, I heard they were doing it

Will Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) take the throne?

Game Of Thrones

The End Is Here. By Taylor Neumann

Game of Thrones HBO,

Series Finale Sunday, May 19 Stream on HBO NOW

Winter has come. After eight years, Game of Thrones is wrapping up its monster run, and it’s going out on a high note with a final season that has delivered on all of its promises — it’s been epic, in the truest sense of the word. The cast and crew spent 10 months filming the six-episode final season that many described as “physically draining” and “miserable.” The “great battle of Winterfell,” where the most unlikely allies join together to battle the Night King, took nearly three months alone to film. Rory McCann (The Hound) said, “Everybody prays they never have to do this again.” But amid the exhaustion, greatness — and history — was being created. Who will ultimately win the Iron Throne? Will it be the dragon queen herself, Daenerys Targaryen? Broody Jon Snow, the king of good hair? Shrewd Cersei of proud House Lannister? Or maybe a dark horse, like scholar Samwell Tarly or loyal Missandei? (This was written before the show concluded, so if one or more of these options have been, let’s say, removed from consideration, please forgive us.) HBO is also giving fans a treat by airing a two-hour documentary about the show only a week later on May 26. Game of Thrones: The Last Watch follows along as British filmmaker Jeanie Finlay is given “unprecedented access” to the making of the final season, reporting from the trenches of production as the cast and crew contend with extreme weather, brutal deadlines and a fan base hungry for any scrap of spoilers. Fans will see the humor, the heartbreak and the bittersweet end to this iconic world. If the thought of no more Westeros is eating you up inside, there is good news: HBO has greenlit a prequel, taking place thousands of years before the events of Game of Thrones. It is scheduled to begin filming in mid 2019 and will star Naomi Watts in a lead role. But for now, let us spend what little time we have left with the characters we know and love. If there’s one thing we’re sure of, it’s that the finale of this groundbreaking show will deliver a goodbye unlike any we’ve seen on television before. 6

VEEP A Bittersweet End To TV’s Best Political Satire. By Barb Oates

Julia LouisDreyfus brings Veep to a close as Selina Meyer makes her final run for POTUS

t was in 2012 when President Barack Obama was running for his second term that we were first introduced to TV’s self-sabotaging vice president Selina Meyer (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) and her crew of misfits in HBO’s potty-mouthed political satire Veep. From her beginnings when she thought she’d be setting up shop in the West Wing (“the president doesn’t actually want you to do anything other than continue to be a woman”) to her killing of her own library (“only former presidents have libraries”), we’ve faithfully followed Selina’s massively hilarious missteps. As her final run for POTUS comes to a close, we can only expect the worst but hope for the best. “I think that where our show ends up ultimately is a place I’m very happy about,” tells Louis-Dreyfus. “I think it will surprise viewers, too.” Louis-Dreyfus, who won six consecutive Emmy Awards for her role, announced last fall that she was cancer-free (this final season was pushed back a year when she was undergoing treatment for breast cancer). For her, the series’ end comes with mixed emotions. “I was so overcome with joy and grief, a joy and grief mashup, as this show ended, and it really was very surprising to me. I mean I’m an emotional person anyway, but I will say that it really caught me by surprise,” Louis-Dreyfus shared at the Television Critics Association’s winter press tour. “This show, frankly, has been my baby for now eight years that I’ve felt fiercely protective of and proud of … we were on location for four years, this team of actors and writers. And then we moved the show to Los Angeles, and we morphed with David [executive producer David Mandel], and it worked and that was a miracle because you know, you never know, it’s such a risk. We’ve been through a lot as a group with illness and losing people, and it’s been an enormous, huge journey, but ultimately one that has been extremely powerful for us. Just personally to be a part of something this gratifying on a creative level is, you know, it’s not lost on me that that is not something that comes along with frequency. And so saying goodbye to it was a very hard thing to do even though it was our decision to do it. Ultimately it was a very sad thing.” Veep But as Gov. Danny Chung (Randall HBO, Park, Fresh Off the Boat) told Selina Series Finale Sunday, back in Season 1, “Sometimes you May 12 have to go down to go up.” Selina is Stream on definitely living proof of this, and Veep HBO NOW will end at the top of its game. 7

Your TiVo Central Road Map

ONEPASS: YOUR TICKET TO LIMITLESS ENTERTAINMENT OnePass gathers every episode of a series available anywhere and adds them right to your My Shows list to watch instantly. If an episode isn’t available on TV or from Midco ON Demand, OnePass fills in the gaps with episodes from streaming video providers like Netflix, Hulu and more. Forget about knowing when a show will be airing or wondering which streaming video service has it available: The TiVo service does it for you, so you can start watching right away!

TiVo Tip!

Got a question? For general troubleshooting, go to the TiVo Central screen and select “Settings & Messages,” then “Help,” then “Troubleshooting.”

And here’s even better news: streaming videos don’t take up any disk space! So when your OnePass includes streaming videos, you get more choices without having to worry about saving space for other recordings. To create a OnePass, find a series you want to watch, then choose “Create a OnePass.” A OnePass folder for the series will be instantly created in My Shows and all available episodes will be added. Note: OnePass searches work best when your video provider list is up to date, with as many providers as possible selected. To view your list of video providers, from the TiVo Central screen select “Settings & Messages,” then “User Preferences,” then “Add & Manage Video Apps.”
