Homers Lines Hello everybody and welcome along to Homers Heath for this afternoon's Toolstation Western League Premier Division fixture between ourselves and Bitton, hopefully you will be reading this and from that we know the game is being played after what seems an eternity of postponed fixtures, not only here but away at various venues as well. Our last game played here at the Heath saw us beat Odd Down from Bath 3-0, in what was only the third league game played by the First Team since the 16th December. I feel the victory was a comprehensive one as we put the visitors from Odd Down on the back foot very early on when Gavin Hammon scored the first of his hat-trick, which was completed in thirty-six minutes of the first half, Hammon grabbed his first in the second minute when he fired home from a cross set up by good work down the left flank by Lloyd Gardner. Gavin doubled his tally in the twelfth minute when he cut in from the left hand side and fired a strong effort from a tight angle towards the visitors goal, only to see the Odd Down keeper Ed Baldy pull off a good save but his efforts were to no avail as Hammon rushed in to stab in the rebound from that tight angle. It was hat-trick time in the thirty-sixth minute when Hammon raced onto a long through ball and beat defender Matthew Durban to gain control of it and duly smashed it past the visiting keeper Baldy, much to his delight at notching his first hat-trick for some-time since the long layoff with the knee injury problem. It was a strange second period as despite playing equally as well as we did in the first forty-five minutes there was no addition to the score, and that wasn't for the want of trying, we played some nice pass and move football and really looked back to our old selves. The match gave the home spectators and followers a chance to see new signings Ryan Bush, Craig Duff and Chris McPhee, who if I am correct all played their first minutes of football this season at Homers Heath. The weather reverted back to its normal wet and miserable status on Monday and Wednesday morning, which meant our trip to Bridport was postponed for the second time this term, owing to a waterlogged pitch. We now await another rearranged
wottonprinters.co.uk
date for the trip to Bridport and will let you know as soon as we find out ourselves, the only problem being that is another game to fit in and the countdown to the closure of the season is moving towards us fast. The same day we were playing against Odd Down here at Homers Heath both the Second Teams away game at Kingskerswell and the Third Team's visit to local cross-town rivals Newton Abbot 66 were both a victim of yet another blank Saturday, it means both those two teams will have a lot of catching up to do although their season can go on until the end of May, unlike the First Teams, who have for some reason to finish by the end of April, unless they apply for a week’s extension, which they don't seem to do very often. The weather also affected the Ladies fixtures that Sunday with the First-Teams trip to AEK Boco falling victim of a waterlogged pitch, although for the first time in a very long time the Ladies Second Team did get a match played, going down by the odd goal in three away at Exeter University, this brings their total of league games played so far this term to two, so another team with a lot of catching up to do, although there are not that many teams in their division. Just a quick mention here that tomorrow that the Ladies First Team are due to be playing here at Homers Heath when Ilminster will be the visitors. This game will kick-off at 2pm, there will be an entrance fee of £2. The 17th February saw all three male adult teams play a game for the first time in weeks, the First Team were away at Warminster Town in the Les Phillips Cup, a second round tie, and ran out very comfortable winners, unlike the score suggests 1-0. This was a game that saw our lads dominate from the first to the last whistle and how it was only onenil at the end of the ninety minutes was a mystery to everyone, including the home spectators. It was disappointing to see Karl Green helped off the field very early on with yet another injury, he does seem to be plagued at the moment just as he has been performing very well in the last few games. We made chance after chance in the first half and failed (miserably at times) to capitalise on this one-sided affair, the only goal of the first period and the ninety minutes in total came in the 34th minute when a cross from the always dangerous looking Lloyd

Homers Lines Gardner was met by Chris McPhee to head powerfully home his first goal playing for Buckland Athletic. The rest of the game was a constant one way affair as we continually attacked the home defence looking for a second goal that would wrap up proceedings and send us through the next round. Warminster were reduced to ten men in the 54th minute when the hosts Mark Young was dismissed for a two footed tackle on Cliff Walters, although I personally didn't think it looked that bad, in my day we would have both got up, and I would be expecting the same thing done to me later. We were awarded a penalty, which was immediately given to Ryan Bush although second choice penalty taker Lloyd Gardner was still on the pitch, as first choice spot man Richard Groves had been substituted. Unfortunately for Ryan his very tame penalty only just had enough on it to reach the goalkeeper and he made a comfortable save, a bit disappointing as we all wanted him to get on the score-sheet, as he was having a particularly good game apart from finding the net. There was no further goal action and the one-nil win was enough to send us into the hat for the next round. On the same afternoon the Second Team were in action, and produced a good 3-1 away win at local rivals Kingskerswell in the League Cup fixture with young James Moxon scoring a brace with Mitchell McCann adding the other. The Third Team were also involved in cup action but went down by the odd goal in three away at high-flying Harbertonford where our marksman was Owen Yarnell, I am told the lads played really well and that's all you can ask of them. On the Sunday both Ladies Teams managed to get a fixture in with the First Team travelling up to Forest Green Rovers in a league fixture, which ended in a convincing victory 9-2, with the damage being done by Kirsty Caunter with five goals, Laura Gough with two and one each for Abigail Meyer and Leah Brooks. The Second Team made a much shorter journey just up the road to Shaldon Villa for what was only their third league game this term so far and also scored nine goals but without reply, the goalscorers being Laura Maguire with three, Chloe Driscoll with two and one each for Sarah Stacey, Zoe Carpenter, Marika Ghiglia and an own goal. On Tuesday 20th February the First Team travelled an almost two-hour journey to Brislington for a midweek fixture that was postponed on the original date. We returned home with all three points after a
wottonprinters.co.uk
very hard fought contest against a useful outfit. We took the lead in the 16th minute when Gavin Hammon kept up his recent good goalscoring form when he fired the ball across the home keeper to give us a deserved advantage. In the 37th minute our advantage was doubled when Richard Groves crashed home a spot kick past home keeper Chris Blammon after the referee had awarded a penalty, it stayed this way until the half-time break. Ten minutes into the second period the hosts pull a goal back, when a soft free-kick given away by us allowed them to float the ball across to the back post where it was headed back across the goal into the net by Louis Britain to raise their spirits, but our lads held firm and we already intrepid spectators who had made the journey myself, 2 hats Carnell and Cornish Bob travelled back to Devon with a smile on our faces. The only downside of the night was the absolutely abysmal crowd of twenty people, three of whom were us. I had a long chat to Sharon (the Christine of their club) about this and said how disappointing it must be for all the volunteers who give up their time to get the games played. When you take into consideration the referees fees are always ÂŁ150 plus and then you had to use the floodlights probably another ÂŁ45, you really do need a few people to turn up and watched the game to make it all worthwhile. But I have banged this drum before how do clubs manage. Saturday 24th February saw the First Team travelling again when they made the journey to Hallen along with the eleven hardy souls on a bitterly cold afternoon, although the sun was shining. Despite their lowly position the hosts played some good football in the first twenty minutes and there was nothing to choose between either side, who both made good chances in this period. However, our strength showed through just after the half hour mark when the hard-working Richard Groves twisted and turned just inside the penalty area and sent his well hit effort just inside the home goalkeepers far post despite a valiant effort from home custodian Sam Burgess. The whistle sounded for half-time with no addition to the score. Very early in the second period we were to double our advantage when Liam Head prodded the ball home from a foot out after a great effort from Kai Fisher was parried by Burgess. We were to move three up just after the hour mark when good work by Lloyd Gardner down the flank saw his cross superbly headed home by the alert Chris McPhee. Just under ten minutes
bucklandathletic.com
westwardgroup.co.uk
Homers Lines from the end of the game, Gardner himself scored a solo effort when he cut in from the right hand flank and fired the ball across the home keeper into the net. Three of the four travelling substitutes got time on the pitch, which is good after making the long journey, Nick Barker, Ryan Bush and Josh Webber all contributed to a well-earned three points once they were given the chance. Both the Second Team against Waldon in the Herald Cup and the Third Team in a League Division One fixture lost by the odd goal in three, last weekend with the Second Team's only goal coming from Sean Kenny, who was making his first appearance for the team. The Third Teams goal came from Owen Yarnell. The Reserves will be playing at
Ashburton today against the top of the league side, where as the Third Team don’t have a fixture at the time of going to press. With no fixture for the Ladies First Team last weekend's spotlight turned onto the Ladies Second Team, who were in a Devon County Cup Semi-Final against Ilfracombe, which was played at Forches Cross. With the game resulting in a good solid win for our girls 3-0, with the goals coming from Melissa Woodmore with two and Chloe Driscoll. We will now face Budleigh Salterton in the final at Coach Road on Friday 23 rd March with a 7.15pm kick-off. Cheers for now, Roy Homer Holmes - Club Chairman

Good afternoon everyone, and welcome to this afternoons Toolstation Western Premier League fixture against Bitton. I would like to welcome the officials, players and supporters from Bitton and hope that you can join us in the clubhouse after the game and have a safe journey home.
Mascot, Barry the Buck making an appearance again. The brainchild of our good friend and Buckland supporter Jamie Sinclair, Barry and his little sidekick will be at all of our home fixtures from now on, and also organising a half time penalty shootout competition. I’m not sure but think we may be the only team in the Toolstation League with a club mascot, but am pretty sure if we are not then no doubt someone will let us know. Going forward 'Barry' will be visiting local schools to promote the club and also attend some of the clubs ladies and junior games and club functions. Thanks should also go to Jonathan Collura and Rob Stanley who have made this possible by funding Barry's Deer suit, thank you guys, it is most appreciated. So that's about it for this week's report folks, if you would like to sponsor or become involved with one of the West country's most ambitious clubs then please contact me on 07836 774048 or email jpbafc@hotmail.com
Since our last game here on the 10th February we have had three away fixtures so it is nice to have a home fixture for a change, and like a London bus we are actually home again next Saturday when we entertain Bridgwater Town.
Enjoy your afternoon folks, and let's hope the boys can pick up the three valuable points, COME ON YOU BUCKS...!!
This afternoon also sees our very own Match day

Interim Manager’s Notes Hi Everyone Welcome to this afternoon's league match versus Bitton FC, I hope you enjoy your visit to Homer Heath and have a safe journey home. It's nice to be playing at home again after three consecutive away games, firstly at Warminster Town in the Les Phillips cup where we progressed to the quarterfinal stage thanks to a 1st half goal from Chris McPhee, then Tuesday after we were asked to go to Brislington FC for a 7:30 kick off, which is always a tricky game but the lads got themselves a two goal lead through Gavin & Rich and although our hosts pulled a goal back early in the 2nd half we held on for the three points. Then last
Saturday we were back in Bristol this time at Hallen FC and although we didn’t have it all our own way especially in the 1st half we came away with a 4-0 win with the goals being shared around amongst Lloyd, Liam, Rich & Chris again. All in all a very satisfying weeks work, a massive thank you to Ben & Steve who ran the side in my absence at Brislington. Onto today then and as always I expect a tough game against strong opposition in Bitton who are always a top eight side and you never get anything easy from them, we'll need to be at our very best this afternoon if we want to continue our good form. On the fitness front I don’t envisage any of the lads that missed last week to be back with us, Cam, Karl & Craig will all be missing but I’m hopeful one or two will be back for next Saturday when we host Bridgewater Town. Cheers, Adam.
Bucks Ed’s Say Hello and a very good afternoon and a huge warm Buckland welcome to all those attending today’s Western League Premier Division game against Bitton. We hope that you all enjoy your time here at Homers Heath and make use of the facilities we have to offer before later on having a safe journey home. What a great upturn in form the 1st Team have had over the last few weeks, winning their last four league games, and adding a Les Phillips Cup 2nd Round win away at Warminster Town to. Three of those wins, two in the league and one in the cup have come on the road, and what a long road. Adam certainly has made a huge difference, alongside him getting in Ben Robinson as coach, and of course our Steve Giles and getting Marc Revell back as assistants. The players have really put in a great shift and hopefully today will again enjoy playing in front of a good crowd at Homers Heath. What the newspaper said about the last week.

Buckland Athletic pass away test with four wins from four games. The promotion chasers have scored ten and conceded just one along the way. Buckland Athletic boss Adam Castle is looking forward to two home games now – especially as his team passed their ‘away test’ with flying colours. Four games, four wins and 12 points, with ten goals scored and just one conceded. Not a bad record at all. The latest win came at Hallen on Saturday with four different goalscorers getting in on the act in the 4-0 win. Hallen were actually the better side for much of the first half, but Richard Groves put Buckland ahead with a neat turn and finish from 12 yards on 35 minutes. In the second half, it was all Buckland, with captain Liam Head forcing the ball home at the back post after a knock-down by his central defensive partner

Bucks Ed’s Say Kai Fisher. That goal came just three minutes after the break. Chris McPhee headed home a rather splendid Lloyd Gardner cross on the hour, and Gardner struck the fourth goal himself, beating several players in the 80th minute before hammering the ball into the roof of the net.
the Buck and Young Buck include in the presentation.
Not only was it a fourth away win on the trot, it was Buckland’s third in a week. As they chase the top dogs in the Western League Premier Division race for promotion, that kind of form is crucial. Manager Castle missed the 3-0 win at Brislington in midweek, but travelled over from Ireland for Saturday’s game. “In the first half, Hallen were the better side,” he said. “We were not at the level we have been recently. But as the half wore on we got into the game and took the lead through Richard Groves. “We were fortunate to be in front at half time and, but for some exceptional work from Kai Fisher, we would have been behind. “The second half was a different story. We upped the tempo and pressed them high – and dominated the half. “Three wins in three weeks and all away from home. That is a brilliant effort. Top marks to the lads who have made this possible.” Buckland play Bitton at home on Saturday before Bridgwater Town visit Homers Heath the following weekend. We have had two more games rearranged, we are at home against Cribbs on Tuesday 20th March, with a 7.45pm kick off. Also we play Willand Rovers at home on Tuesday 17th April, with a 7.30pm kick off. In our last home game, we had three new players making your home debuts this season, but we also had a very first club mascot, but it wasn’t just one but two, as Barry the Buck was joined by Young Buck, and it is probably a first in the Western League. In that game against Odd Down (Bath), a 3-0 win, with our prolific striker Gavin Hammon netting a hat-trick. We also had some match ball sponsors for this game, Martin Dare, Neil Luscombe, Neil Scorns, Brian Staples, Gary Adderley, Andy Lloyd and Marcus Davies really enjoyed their afternoon at the Heath. They also chose our hat-trick hero Gavin Hammon as our man of the match and right he is presented with the award with both Barry

Our Ladies development Team played their third game since the 3rd December last Sunday, and they made it through their Graddon Vending Women’s Supplementary Cup Semi-Final at Forches Cross after defeating Ilfracombe Town Ladies 3-0. They make it to successive finals, which is a great achievement by the Ladies, of which the club is very proud. That final will be played at Coach Road on Friday 23rd March 2018 with a 7.15pm kick off, against Budleigh Salterton, who play in Division One of the Devon Women’s League, our Ladies play in the Premier, but Budleigh are doing well in that division and have played six league games, winning five, losing one, gaining fifteen points, so this will be a tough a game for our ladies. The other two games were in their league campaign, of which they have now played just three games so far this season, they were beaten 2-1 away at University of Exeter, and thrashed Shaldon Villa away 9-0. Twitter: HONOURS Western League Premier Division Winners: 2008–09 Runners Up: 2010–11, 2011–12 HISTORY Bitton AFC were founded in 1892. They play at the Recreation Ground, which is on the outskirts of the village of Bitton, on the A420 between Bath and Bristol. This has been their home since the club was formed. There is very little history of the club before the Second World War. From 1945 up until the late 1980's they ran teams in the Bristol and District Football League with limited success. In the 1989/90 season the club 1st team played in the Senior Division of the Bristol and District Football League. After winning promotion two years in succession the 1st team started the 1991/92 season playing in the Premier Division of the Bristol Premier Combination. Season 1994/95 was to prove one of the club's most memorable, winning the GFA Senior Amateur Cup and finishing Runners -Up in the Bristol Premier Combination, achieving promotion to the Gloucestershire County League. Season 1996/97 saw the club reach the GFA Challenge Trophy Final, losing narrowly to MangotsfieldUnited. The club also finished Runners Up in the Gloucestershire County League and were
wottonprinters.co.uk
promoted to the Western League First Division. After 7 seasons in the First Division, the Club achieved its highest position during the 2003/04 season, when finishing Runners Up and gaining promotion to the Western League Premier Division. Upon becoming an established Western League Premier Division Club, Bitton AFC were crowned Champions in 2008/09, whilst Winning the GFA Challenge Trophy in the same season. Despite winning the league then, and earning Runners Up in 2010/11, Bitton were unable to gain promotion, as the ground facilities did not satisfy Southern League standards. Over the last decade the club has matched its playing performance with many off the pitch developments. A stand seating 50 was built. Covered accommodation for 150 was erected. In February 2001 floodlighting was installed which is up to Conference standard. 2004 saw the building of a new dressing room block, including a kitchen and boardroom and also a floodlight multiple use games area. During the summer of 2011 Chairman John Langdon invested significantly into the clubs facilities to ensure they met Southern League standards should Bitton qualify for promotion in the future. The wooden clubhouse was demolished and a new building erected, whilst arrangements were made to accommodate turnstiles required for the next level. This investment continues to demonstrate the clubs drive and ambition to push for promotion to the Southern League. The Reserve Team play in the Premier Division of the Bristol Premier Combination whilst the 'A' team (3rd's) play in Division 1 of the Bristol and District League. Bitton Ladies were formed at the start of the 2007/2008 season and play in the Gloucestershire County Womens Football League. Bitton AFC also run an impressive Youth structure for boys & girls, with teams ranging from Under 6's right through to Under 18's. This season Bitton celebrate 125 years in the community. Young manager Dan Langdon was appointed solely this season following a joint manager role last season. Steve Jones joins Langdon as his assistant manager.

Down Memory Lane Hello everyone and welcome to another trip back into the past down memory lane when today I will look at two programmes from a batch of non-league editions I bought on eBay some time ago to boost my own collection and keep this feature in the programme active.
couple of fixtures and goes on to mention although relegation is a possibility he is confident the team will stay in the Premier Division at the end of the season. Page 3 is full of adverts eight in total, ranging from house furnishings to building contractors, electrical engineers and the cosy coach hire company. Pages 4 and 5, the centre pages contain the two team line-ups in the one to twelve format, just mentioning surnames. Once again there are several adverts around the outside perimeters of these pages. Page 6 is divided into three, the top third listing all the match fixtures of this season, with the middle third listing appearances and goalscorers for the First Team, finally the bottom third is an advert for Sydney Smith-department store. Page 7 is divided into two, the top half gives an up-to-date league table for both the First and Second Teams, the bottom half is an advert for Lee’s Service Station and second-hand car sales. Page 8, the outside back cover lists all the fixtures with those completed so far this season having their scores entered once again this is for both First and Second Teams. There is a small advert in the bottom quarter of the page for JW Thomas-Pharmacy. Today's names listed as probable starters were: Poole Town: Goalkeeper – Buck, 2 – Bazeley, 3 – Pegram, 4 – Carr, 5 – Eyden, 6 – Rawlins, 7 – Walker, 8 – Priscott, 9 – Hill, 10 – Callaway, 11 – Putnam, 12 – Henderson. Telford: Goalkeeper – Irvine, 2 – Harris, 3 – Croft, 4 – Ray, 5 – Fairhurst, 6 – Ross, 7 – Fudge, 8 – Owen, 9 – Bentley, 10 – Thompson, 11 – Draycott, 12 – Jaeger.
The first programnme I look at today is from a Southern League Premier Division fixture between Poole Town and Telford United, a fixture played on Saturday 14th April 1973, the front cover contains all this information along with a black-and-white photograph of the stadium and also it lets us know the cost of the programme was 4p and my lucky number would have been 56, there is also a small adverts at the bottom of the front cover for the local sports paper. Page 2 is written by the club chairman , Mr Nigel Bailey, where he reflects on the last

Although I could not find out the results of the game a bit of research tells me at the end of this season the Southern League Premier Division champions were Kettering Town with 57 points from 42 games (2 points for a win in these days), runners-up Yeovil Town 56, today's visitors Telford finished 10th with 44 points while Poole finished in 20th position with 30 points and were relegated along with Burton Albion 25 points and Waterlooville 24. The next programme we look at is this time from the Isthmian League and the game between Hitchin Town and visitors Oxford City played on Bank

Down Memory Lane Holiday Monday 28th August, 1972, this information is contained on the front cover along with letting us know this edition would have cost us 3p, there are four adverts also on the front cover. Page 2 contains in the top half a list of all the dignitaries who help run the club and the club honours won since the club's formation in 1865. The bottom half contains two quarter page adverts, one for The Hermitage-sheet metal company and the second one for L Williams-carpenter and Joiner. Page 3 is entitled ‘Club Notes’ and gives us a good insight as to what is going on both around the club and on the playing side of matters, it also mentions that in the last nine meetings with Oxford City Hitchin have won only one twice. Pages 4 and 5, the centre pages list the two team line-ups in the one to twelve format and also mentions all three officials by name. There are also several adverts around the outside perimeters of these two pages, ranging from scrap metal merchants to bookmakers, butchers and car insurance brokers. Page 6 gives us an insight into today's visitors Oxford City and also lists the next three home games here at the Bedford Road ground. There is an advert in the bottom quarter of the page for The Radcliffe Arms. Page 7 lists all the up-and-coming fixtures for this season and the page also contains two quarter page adverts, one for Robert Brewster-mortgage consultants and the other for E and S Cadwell-plant and machinery hire. Page eight, the outside back cover gives an up-todate league table, although each club has only played four times so far with Hitchin along with Bromley Town losing all four games so far, today's visitors Oxford City not doing much better having collected just one point. Today's two teams were listed as follows, Hitchin: Goalkeeper - D Turner, 2 - H Pratt, 3 - J Kettleborough, 4 - A Martin, 5 - P Robinson, 6 - T Williams, 7 - K Bevis, 8 - B Gill, 9 - B Skeggs, 10 - A Garafall, 11 - P Gabriel, 12 - B Baigent. Oxford City: Goalkeeper - P Harris, 2 - N Hartigan, 3 - J Parkin, 4 - A Evans, 5 - T Stokes, 6 - G Eves, 7 - E Metcalfe, 8 - J Woodley, 9 - R Marcham, 10 - G Smith, 11 - B Sillitoe, 12 - K Mulhern.

Once again I have no idea of the final score but research tells me at the end of this season the Isthmian League champions were Hendon, who accumulated 74 points (at two points a win) from 42 fixtures. The runners-up were Walton and Hersham with 61 points, Hitchin finished 16th with 39 points and Oxford City 19th with 19 points, relegated were Clapton with 17 points and Corinthian Casuals with 14 points. Well that's it for this time we will do it again soon, Roy Homer Holmes.

Buckland Athletic - A Club History The club was formed in 1977 purely as a junior club. We started life in the Torbay Pioneer League and Sandringham Park was our home pitch. As a junior club it was the biggest in the area, running a total of six sides in six different age groups for several seasons. We won many titles over the years including the Devon Youth Cup. In the season of 1987-88 we were accepted into the Devon and Exeter League and started our senior football life in Senior Division Three playing home games at Coach Road with Roy Holmes still in charge. In our first season we won the Championship and were promoted into Senior Two in 1988-89. Well in the 1989-90 season we gained promotion once more into Senior One these two promotions were gained with a very youthful side. In 1990-91 we were on the move again this time to Decoy and this season saw us win the Wheaton Trophy. We finally achieved our dream of being promoted to the Premier Division in 1992-93, having now moved to our old ground at Homers Lane and the club hasn't looked back since that move took place. In 1994-95 season saw Roy Holmes step down as first team manager and Nigel Holmes and Roger Madge took the job on. This was the season we won our first Premier Division Championship, a crowning glory to our The club was formed in 1977 purely as a junior club. This was the season we won our first Premier Division Championship, a crowning glory to our runners-up in the league, we also picked up the Sportsmanship Cup and Programme Award. 2001-2002 was great season for the club as the

Reserves went through the season undefeated in the Devon and Exeter Senior Division Two and were promoted to Senior One. The first team ended the season in sixth place in the league table and were beaten finalists in the Throgmorton Cup. 2002-2003 was another successful season in the life of Buckland, the Reserves won the Devon FA Senior Cup at Coach Road, beating Princess Yachts International 3-0. They were also promoted to the Premier Division of the Devon and Exeter League after finishing in third place, that was only decided on their last game of the season when the top three sides were all in with a chance of securing the title. The First team finished up third in the table which at the start of the season was, as many supporters said beyond them but the managers got good players in at the right times through the season. We also won the Devon League programme award and finished 29th out of a total of 1100 non league programme in the renowned Wirral awards. 2003-2004 was a new era in the club’s history, a third senior side was established and went on to win The South Devon League Division Seven Championship with ease. The First team finished in eighth place, with Gary Taylor stepping down from his assistant manager position, their lowest position since joining the Devon League. The Reserves finished in fourth spot in The Devon and Exeter Premier Division, Manager Simon Glanfield stood down as manager. The programme finished first in the Devon League section of the Wirral programme awards and 11th out of 1100 non-league programmes. 2004-05 we did better than the previous season by finishing in 7 th place. Throughout this season the new ground was being worked on by a loyal band of club people. In the final year of the Wirral programme awards we finished in our highest position of sixth out of 1100, winners were Exeter City. For the 2005-06 season we started life playing our games at our new permanent home, Homers Heath on the Kingskerswell Road. The move went very well, and the ground was opened on Saturday 13th July when an estimated 300 + people turned out to see Steve Perryman cut the ribbon to open the pitch. Plymouth Argyle bringing a team up on Wednesday 13th July followed this up. And Argyle Chairman Mr Stapleton officially opened the clubhouse. Paul Feasby and Andy Paddon were in charge of the First team and we finished in our lowest league position of 13th. In the 2006-07 season all the talk was about the re-structuring of the Devon League and South Western League. One League with three Divisions was being formed called the South West Peninsula League. We managed to finish the season in 12th place under the leadership of Phil Bayliss and Gary Taylor and we had done just enough to meet our goal of qualifying for the SWPL

Buckland Athletic - A Club History Premier Division along side the topsides in both the South Western and Devon Leagues. The 2007-08 season was an extremely successful one for the club, the first team finished in 14th place in the new South West Peninsula League Premier Division. We won the SWPL Premier Division best ground award, which is voted by the other clubs visits to Homers Heath we also won the SWPL Programme award. The Reserves won the South Devon League Division 3 title, were runners-up in the prestigious Herald Cup, Devon Intermediate Cup Winners and Divisional Cup winners. The 3rd Team won the SDL Division 6 title, the Fred Hewings Cup and their Divisional Cup Final. In the 2008-09 season, the club enjoyed another successful season, the 1st team finished the season in 3rd place in the SWPL Premier Division, and for the second season running we won both the ground and programme award for the Premier division. The 2nd Team had a highly successful season, winning the South Devon League Division Two title and getting promoted to Division One, they also won the Devon Senior Cup with a 1-0 win over Lifton at Coach Road, this for the second time in the club's history. However, 2nd Team manager Ian Miller decided it was time to step down and concentrate on his now role as the clubs commercial agent having enjoyed huge success with the 2nd Team. The 3rd Team finished in second placed in the SDL Division Five and gained promotion to Division Four. Our Under 14 side also were very successful, winning their league title and league cup and winning the Devon FA County Cup at Coach Road with a fine 41 win over Plymouth Kolts. Buckland had a phenomenal season in 2009-10, the 1st team did the double, winning the SWPL Premier Division title and the Throgmorton Cup pipping Bodmin Town to both, in what was manager Phil Bayliss’ last season in charge. They lost just three times in the league and were unbeaten in all their 19 home games. We also played in the famous FA Cup competition for the first time in the club’s history. They actually won the league on goal difference from Bodmin Town and they also beat them 2-1 after extra time in the Throgmorton Cup final played at Cullompton’s Speed Meadow. This was a wonderful way for Phil to hand over control to new manager Steve Massey for the 2010-11 season. The 2nd Team had a very successful season once again, this time they won the SDL Division One league title and they retained the Devon Senior Cup Final beating Elburton Villa Reserves at Coach Road 3-1. Again the 2nd Team manager Jim Barrett also decided to resign at the end of the season and Adam Castle will now be in charge of their new quest in the SDL Premier Division. The 3rd Team won the SDL
wottonprinters.co.uk
Division Four league title, and they will be managed again this coming season by Scott Chisholm, who has guided them to many successes over number years. The success kept coming in the 2010-11 season, the 1st Team retained the SWPL Premier Division title, by an eight point margin, they also became the lowest ranked club to win the Devon St Lukes Bowl when they defeated Tiverton Town on penalties in that final. The 2nd Team finished in 3rd place in their first season in the SDL Premier Division, and they did win the George Belli Cup, defeating Totnes & Dartington 2nds 4-2. The 3rd team also finished in 3rd place in SDL Division 3, are they achieved promotion. They also won the Fred Hewings Cup for the second time, when they defeated WBB 2nds 1-0. The Junior side of the club continues to grow, but we have lost both Under 16 sides, but a lot of those players ware now signing senior forms for club, so hopefully we will find a number of young stars for all three senior sides. The 2011-12 season was another significant one in the history of Buckland Athletic. Although the 1 st team relinquished their grip on the SWPL Premier Division title, beaten into second place by a very good Bodmin Town side, we had done enough to secure promotion to the Toolstation Western League Premier Division at Step 5. We were also beaten finalists in the Throgmorton Cup, again losing out to Bodmin Town, but we did retain the prestigious Devon St Lukes Bowl, again we played Tiverton town (Step 4) in the final, this time at the Heath, but this season we ran out worthy winners in 90 minutes, 4-0. The 2nd Team finished as runners-up in the SDL Premier Division, but they did win the Herald Cup for the first time in the clubs history, beating Watcombe Wanderers in that final 3-2 after extra time. They also made it through to the semifinals of the Devon Premier Cup, beaten by eventual winners and SWPL Division One East winners Liverton United. The 3rd Team didn’t win any silverware this season, but they had a great season, finishing in fourth place in the SDL Division Two table, and were beaten finalists in the Lidstone Cup. But the most pleasing part for the 3rds were the amount of the previous seasons Under 16s side made it into the side throughout the season. Manager Scott Chisholm has now decided to stand down as 3rd Team manager, he has been in charge of them since the teams formation in 2003, and had won promotion every season, until this one. Scott will be missed but he will remain involved with the club off the field, with former 1st team stalwarts Neil Montandon and Ben Williamson taking on the manager role with help from Nigel Holmes for the 2012-13 season. Antony Lynch will again lead the 1st Team, alongside his assistant Tom Kelly, but we have lost another stalwart for the new season, as assistant manager

Buckland Athletic - A Club History Jaimie Carwardine has now moved away from the area and has had to stand down, and again he will be sorely missed. Adam Castle will once again be in charge of the 2nd Team assisted by Paul Tucker, Simon Dungey and Steve Giles. The 1st Team’s first season in the Toolstation Western League ended in a tenth place finish, but the club did the Hospitality award and programme award in this first campaign. The 2nd Team won the South Devon League Premier Division title for the first time in its history, they also lost out in the finals of both the Devon Premier Cup and Herald Cup to Exmouth Town and Watcombe Wanderers respectively. The 3rd Team finished in third place in SDL Division Two, and were promoted to Division One, they also won the Fred Hewings Cup beating Totnes & Dartington 3rds. For the 2013-14, our highly successful 2nd Team manager, Adam Castle will now be in charge of the 1 st Team for its second season in the Western League Premier Division. There is a new man in charge of the 2nd Team, Simon Dungey will be the man to lead them in this campaign, while the 3rd Team will be once again lead by Neil Montandon. In his first season in charge of the 1st Team, Adam Castle led them to an 11th place finish in the Toolstation Western League Premier Division. The club retained the Premier Division Programme award. The 2nd Team finished in 4th place in the South Devon League Premier Division, and were beaten finalists in the Herald Cup, going down 3-1 to Watcombe Wanderers. The 2rd Team finished as runners-up to Dartmouth in the South Devon League Division One, but they retained the Fred Hewings Cup by beating Watcombe Wanderers 2nds 2-1, this was their third win of this trophy in the last four seasons. What another great season for the club was 2014-15, the 1st Team managed by Adam Castle finished as runners-up in the Western League Premier Division (Step Five), which was a great achievement, we also won the Premier Division programme award for the third consecutive season. The 2nd Team led by Neil Snell ended this season as Champions of the South Devon League Premier Division, and our 3rd Team managed by club stalwart Nigel Holmes also finished as champions, this time of the South Devon League Division One, and they also retained the Fred Hewings Cup winning it for the fifth time, they also introduced a few of our talented Under 16s players into senior football. Now onto the 2015-16 season, firstly there was substantial drainage work done to the playing surface during the summer, and we must thank Viridor Credits

for their help in funding these works. Onto the football, the 1st Team managed by Adam Castle finished in 4th Place in the Western League Premier Division, but not good enough to reach our goal of promotion. The 2nd Team managed again by Neil Snell retained the South Devon League Premier Division title, and were beaten finalists in the Herald Cup. Our 3rd Team finished the season in the South Devon League Division One as runners-up, in what was manager Nigel Holmes last season in charge. The club fielded it’s first Ladies team managed by Grant Fisher, in the Devon Women's League Division One, and they didn’t drop a point when winning the league title, and they then added the League Cup, in what was a fantastic season for them. Also during the season a lot of work was carried out at Homers Heath, including a new covered standing area, which incorporates two new turnstiles. The ground was fenced in, and an impressive outside toilet block was built. This work allowed the club to achieve a ‘D’ Ground Grade which is good enough for Southern League football. 2016-17 was another very good season for the club, the 1st Team finished in 4th place in the Western League Premier, and collected their best points tally since joining the league. The team also reached in the last eight of the FA Vase, going down 2-0 away against Bromsgrove Sporting, this means that it was very good season for new manager Ellis Laight. The club also won the Western League Hospitality Award and best programme award this season. The 2nd Team won their third consecutive South Devon League Premier Division title, under the leadership of Lee Chapman and Ben Robertson. Our 3rd Team under Phil Bearne and Paul Sharples finished as runners-up in the South Devon League Division One, and won their sixth Fred Hewings Cup trophy. Now on to our all conquering Ladies 1st Team who won the South West Women's League Western Division, dropping just two points over their unbeaten season. They also added the Soccerworld League Cup and the Devon FA Senior Cup to that success which saw them end this season as treble winners. Our Ladies 2nd Team finished mid-table in a very hard Devon Women's League Premier Division, and were beaten finalists in the Devon FA Supplementary Cup. There were also varies successes for our Junior sides, bot boys and girls. We now move onto the 2017-18 season, again the aim is for the 1st Team to gain promotion to the Southern League, which in turn would allow the 2nd Team if they finished in a promotion position to move up to the South West Peninsula League. The 1st Team will again be managed by Ellis Laight, and have kept all but one of last season squad. The 2nd Team will be

Buckland Athletic - A Club History & Honours led by Lee Chapman with the 3rd Team having Nigel Holmes in charge. The Ladies1st and 2nd Teams keep their management structure for this coming season, with the 1st Team now in the SWWL Premier Division and the 2nd Team in Devon Women's League Premier Division. There will also be more junior sides added in both boys and girls teams,. The club continues to grow, and with everyone pulling in the right direction, which includes our fantastic loyal sponsors, and supporters he sky is the limit to what we can achieve. The club continues to thrive both on and off the field of the play and this is due to the hard working ethics of all the volunteers within the club.
