Agatha Christie World-famous crime writer and novelist Dame Agatha Christie has always enjoyed close links with Torbay, since she was actually born in Torquay in 1890 and lived here for much of her life. As a result of her love of Torbay and extensive knowledge of the area, many of her books were either set locally, such as 'And Then There Were None', or inspired by the surrounding Devon scenery. Agatha Christie and her first husband Archibald Christie spent their honeymoon at The Grand Hotel after marrying in 1914, on Christmas Eve.

HE BABBACOMBE THEATRE, Torquay, has something new to boast about and it’s not a new show, but a new star, albeit a ‘virtual’ one. The mobile phone as we all know is more of a social medium than a simple communicator; it’s an everyday accessory. We always want it nearby; it excites us with its variety of functions can often leave us overwhelmed with its ever-improving technology! Usually it is the venues seasonal show that overwhelms the critics, this year it’s been the cast of Heatwave. They received many exciting reviews and it was the variety of their performances that earned the show 5 Stars. However this new addition to the Babbacombe Theatre’s cast is set to take centre stage, as it embraces the limelight and hopefully the people that get their hands on it will be as impressed with its functions? Check it our for your self, by using your mobile phone to scan this QR code, and you will see first hand the mobile portal for our website. Fun and laughter will be the name of the game on Joe Pasqualeʼs 2011 PULL MY FINGER tour. Having recently completed the Virgin London Marathon in aid of Diabetes UK, the irrepressible Joe Pasquale will be embarking on another marathon this year with 20 dates confirmed in holiday towns during July and August and further dates to be announced for the Autumn. Joe is on a personal mission to cheer everyone up and put a smile on peopleʼs faces in these dark and dismal times, and his PULL MY FINGER show will do just that! Packed with hilarious routines, performed at breakneck pace, and a cacophony of props, PULL MY FINGER will also feature Joeʼs hapless sidekick Raynard who often appears in various forms of ʻdiscreet undressʼ. Packed with fun for all the family, PULL MY FINGER will have them laughing in the aisles and hopefully with the non-stop laughter, the only gaseous emissions during the show will be carbon dioxide! Following his ESP tour in 2010 and Pantomime appearance as Muddles in Sleeping Beauty at the Birmingham Hippodrome, Joe has spent the best part of 2011 getting in shape for what was one of the biggest challenges of his life. Being crowned King of the Jungle in 2004 has had a cathartic effect on his lifestyle and has seen him go on to overcome a deepseated fear of flying and qualify as a pilot; fulfill a lifetime ambition to revisit his education and start studying with the Open University for a Degree in Geoscience; take up boxing and then take up the challenge to compete in the Virgin London Marathon. The experience was fantastic and Joe completed the course in 5 hours 22 minutes – no mean achievement for a man whose only experience of running had been from one side of the stage to the other during his action-packed performances. So, why not let Joe Pasquale pull your finger this year!

EXCLUSIVE PREVIEW When I first met these guys I was instantly put at ease as they are very down to earth guys and coming from humble upbringings in Southampton they know the importance of enjoying every minute of their new found success, although it isn't a success that has happened overnight.!! The guys, Marc, Nathan, Glenn and Scott had been childhood friends and have been singing together for over 10 years bringing their different styles of music together to create the distinctive sound that they have created with this group. After an unsuccessful attempt at the first X Factor the guys took the knock back on the chin and started to work closely on their harmonies and arrangements which form the cornerstone of their group today, they then decided to brave the 2010 X-factor auditions and impressed the judges with a rendition of Cheryl Coles 'Fight for this Love'. They have a passion for the songs they create as they draw on the bands personal experiences in life and have been heavily involved with the production of all the songs on their debut album. Their style is very much 'Westlife' meets 'The Script' but there is a touch of rock music in there too. Their musical influences range from Westlife and Stevie Wonder to Michael Jackson and even their hometown singer Craig David. They are really excited to be performing at Crealy Rocks and can’t wait to have the crowd singing their new single back to them on what they believe will be an awesome day. They are releasing their new single ' Take it all' on 7th August... this is to be followed by their debut album ' Crying out Loud' in the autumn of 2011.... See the guys live Saturday 13th August at Crealy, supporting Peter Andre

Summer’s here at last. The English Riviera has so much to offer on long, lazy days and here at the UK’s largest outdoor waterpark you can have the best of both worlds; adrenalin fuelled fun on the flumes or kick back and relax by the swimming pool or spend time on Goodrington beach. The waterpark is open every day of the school holidays. Choose from eight fantastic rides; from tumbling tyre rides, to twisting body slides and the full on adrenaline rush of the “Devil’s Drop”, a towering near vertical plunge and the water is heated water too for those not so balmy summer days with Boarders Café, toddler splash area and a swimming pool, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. This summer are some fab new attractions on site, for waterpark and beach users alike to try (charges apply). Let battle commence with Water Wars, take a tumble on the Waterzorbz, solve the clues in the fiendishly fishy inflatable maze and search for buried treasure. All that fun can be hard work, so get your teeth into some great food at The Octopus at the Octagon and delicious Marshfield ice-cream sundaes; a proper taste of summer. Need new swimmers, a stick of rock or postcard for granny? Visit the Sunrise Beach and Snack store for all you need for a great British seaside day out.
