Fitness Orientation

Fitness orientations are open to all members and guests and include demonstrations on the proper use of fitness equipment and information on safety and weight room

etiquette .

Required for Ages 8-17 before working out or attending a class.* Free with Recreation Center admission. Please wear proper athletic shoes and attire.

Ages & Requirements (8+):

• Fitness orientations are mandatory for youth ages 8 to 17 to access the fitness floor at the Recreation Center but are also open to adults

• Youth ages 8 to 17 must have a valid Rec Center card prior to attending an orientation

• Youth ages 8 to 11 must attend orientation with a parent or guardian

• Youth ages 8 to 11 must be accompanied by a parent/ guardian at all times and are only allowed on the fitness floor on Family Fitness Saturdays from 10 am until 5 pm *

• Youth ages 12 to 17 may use the fitness floor independently after completing a fitness orientation

• Youth ages 8 to 17 are required to have their Rec Center card with them at all times . Those without their card present may be asked to leave the fitness floor .

Why 108? To many cultures and in the Yogic tradition, 108 is a sacred number .

What is a Sun Salutation? Sun Salutations contain 6 postures: Mountain, Forward Fold, Half Lift, Chaturanga, Upward-Facing Dog, and Downward Dog along with many modifications of these 6 shapes . You can also add variety to your practice if you wish As you practice these postures you will build whole-body strength, inner and outer, and honor the arrival of the new season or year!

Please note: 108 Sun Salutations is not an activity for someone without yoga experience. Do not eat right beforehand. Come well-hydrated. We provide equipment but suggest bringing your own. Bring plenty of water. No one is required to finish all 108 sun salutations.

Labor Day Dry Tri

Ever wondered if you had what it takes to participate in multiple fitness classes in a day? Challenge yourself this Labor Day with 3 consecutive fitness classes! Join fitness instructors Leah Fuester and Karen Kirby for bragging rights with (1) strength, (1) cycle and (1) yoga class.

Members/guests are encouraged to participate in all 3 classes, but participation in all 3 is not required. Pre-registering is the only way to guarantee your spot in the cycling class. *Cycling class is limited to the first 13 participants to pre-register. Others are encouraged to walk the track or ride their personal bikes on the Clear Creek Trail.

Grab your BINGO cards and take part in the month-long fitness challenge. Members and guests are encouraged to take classes to fill up as many cards as possible throughout the month of October for a chance to win one of our 3 grand prizes.

• Classes are limited to the drop-in fitness classes located at the Wheat Ridge Recreation Center.

• Drawing will be held November 1st and winners will be announced that week.

• Instructors will be stamping cards for all participants.

• No limit to number of cards members/guests can complete.
