A fantastic location….

Aberdeenshire is a great destination for a golf break in Scotland. The region has all the hallmarks of classic links golf with a blend of great bars, club and restaurants away from the fairways. Visitors can take advantage of a selection of first class hotels close to the golf courses with plenty of accommodation providers within an hour of the area ideal as a base to explore Aberdeenshire golf. Aberdeenshire features many hidden gems and magnificent links-style golf courses. There is no better setting than the North-East Scotland coastline to take in the breath-taking sea views and play secret masterpieces of the golfing world.

A wonderful golf club… Your Golfer eMagazine’s ‘North East Scotland Golf Club of the Year’, Newburgh on Ythan Golf Club is a great place to play golf. Founded in 1888, the golf club is located east of the village between the Foveran Burn and the River Ythan.

In 1947 following World War II, golf in Newburgh was reborn; the original nine hole layout was played up until 1994 when new land was purchased to the south of the old course on the Foveran links. Assisted by Greens of Scotland who designed the new nine holes and golf course architect, Glen Andrews who constructed the greens and bunker, the Newburgh course was extended to the eighteen holes that can be enjoyed today.

The new 18 hole layout was officially opened in April 1996. Situated on the Ythan Estuary, overlooking the North Sea and Sands of Forvie National Nature Reserve, today’s par 72, Newburgh on Ythan championship links course demands accuracy from the tee. Stretching over 6,423 yards from the championship tees, the Newburgh golf course calls for good course management skills as well as carful club selection. Since its inception, the course has matured into one of the finest specimens of golf in the North East of Scotland and is enjoyed by many visitors who return year-after-year.
