About The Bon Children’s Home

Th Bön Children’s Home was established in 1988 by Latri Nyima Dakpa Rinpoche, at the request of His Holiness the 33rd sMenri Trizin. The BCH was founded to be a safe home to take care of children, whose parents are unable to provide for them. A home where the students have a roof over their head, food, clothing, an education, and a future.

Children come to the BCH from various regions of India, Nepal Bhutan, Sikkim and Tibet. Some of them have been sent by relatives from distant, poor areas at great expense and di have been sent by relatives from distant, poor areas at great expense and difficulty to have the benefits of the care and education the BCH provides. Approximately 150 children, both boys and girls, from kindergarten through grade 12, are accommodated here.

Yeru Bon Center Visits BCH

We have been happy to have representatives from Yeru Bön Center visit the Bön Children’s Home, to meet and spend time with the children. Conversations are had with the elder children, on how they are doing at the Bön Children on how they are doing at the Bön Children’s Home. They are so bright and positive. The all love each other very much as if they are true siblings.

We’ve been fortnuate to tour the facilities and see the improvements and the work and repairs yet to be done. We’ve spoken with the elder children and with the BVH administrators regarding the well-being of the children and any immediate needs.

As with so many others , the children at As with so many others , the children at The Bon Children’s Home were so isolated because of the Covid Pandemic , in lock-down for almost two years. The staff at the Bon Children’s Home were amazing and made sure the children stayed safe and healthy.

This June,, the president of Yeru Bon Center, David Peteler will visit The Bon Children’s Home for the first time since 2019. David loves going to visit the children and talking with the staff to see how we could be of help and service to the Bon Children’s Home. David commisioned to have the first dormitory built for the children in the late 80s and has remained a supporter of BCH. We still need help with the BCH facilities and maintenance. The dormitory floors need concrete work, building columns need repair, and buildings need to be painted. The generator is still a priority. The current generator is very worn and needs to be replaced.

We have met with former students of Bon, They are amazing, strong, smart, empowered to have a healthy and productive life. They are kind, generous, loving and so, so grateful for their time at The Bon Childrens Home.

Urgent Request Around The World!

The Bön Children’s Home is located in Dolanji India, just a short steep walk from sMenri Monastery and across the .valley from Ratna Menling nun’s convent. A quiet, secluded place where the children can hear the sounds of their beautiful surroundings, the call of the monkeys and the sounds of chants from the monks and nuns.

The Bön Children’s Home was established in 1988 for the purpose of providing a healthy living space and a good education for the children. and a good education for the children. The children come mainly from Bhutan, Sikkim, Tibet, Nepal and India. Most of the children are at the Bön Children’s Home because their families could not provide for them, or they have no family. Some of the children were brought by their parents who wanted to give them a better environment, and where they can get an education and develop a deeper understanding of their Bön traditions.

With approximately 150 children, The Bön Children’s Home provides for their daily needs. The BCH also provides for their exucation at the local school, Sambhota Tibetan School Dolanji, managed by the Education Department of Dharamsala. Education Department of Dharamsala. They receive an education from kindergarten through grade 12. They study general education courses, they learn English, Hindi and Tibetan. The children have sports teams, and academic teams.

The principal at this school has said, the children at the Bön Children’s Home are excellent students. They excel in sports. They are grateful for being at the Bön Children’s Home.

The staff of the Bön Children’s Home supervises the children and provides meals and other necessities. The children are taken care of by Ayas (nannies), who help with cleaning, washing clothes and care of the youngest children. The older students help to look after the younger children. The children receive basic medical care as well.

They know their future is brighter for them as a result.
