January 1-14, 2011

A Note from the Pastor What a day to start a brand new year—Sunday, the Lord’s Day—a weekly reminder of the day of the Lord’s resurrection! Sunday brings a message of hope. It starts a new week. It brings a message of merry. God has watched over us for another week and has blessed us with a new one. As we enter 2012, we might do well to consider part of the very thoughtful prayer found in Psalm 86. Verses 11-13 read like this: “Teach me Your way, O Lord, and I will live by Your truth. Give to me an undivided mind to reverence Your Name. I will praise You with all of my heart, O Lord my God, and I will honor Your Name forever. Because Your faithful love for me is great, and You deliver my life from the lowest Hell.” This prayer is self explanatory. It is a balanced mixture of petition and praise. In these uncertain times, we need to strengthen the godly habit of prayerful dependence upon our gracious Lord and Savior. Let us start this New Year in this spirit and continue in this frame of mind every day of 2012. May God bless you with a year of growth and joy in Christ.
