HEARTBEAT A Note from the Pastor
Joe Morton
Senior Technical Writer, Dynetics
Where I serve in ministry: Shuttle Driver and Shuttle Chairman Why I serve: I feel everyone should serve Christ and the church
in a way that gives them joy. If you love what you do in service, then you will want to do your best. As a shuttle driver I help create the first impression on Sunday morning. When people ride the shuttles I have opportunity to impact their lives before they enter the church doors. This gives me incentive to drive on Sundays.
I was speaking at an open air crusade in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Billy Graham was to speak the next night and had arrived a day early. He came wearing a hat and dark glasses and sat near the rear of the crowd on the grass. No one recognized him. Directly in from of him sat an elderly gentleman who seemed to be listening intently to my presentation. When I invited people to come forward as an open sign of commitment, Billy decided to do a little personal evangelism. He tapped the man on the shoulder and asked, “Would you like to accept Christ? I’ll be glad to walk down with you if you want to.” The old man looked him up and down, thought it over for a moment, and then said, “Naw, I think I’ll just wait til the big gun comes tomorrow night.” Billy and I have had several good chuckles over that incident. Unfortunately, it underlines how, in the minds of many people, evangelism is the task of the “Big Guns,” not the “little shots.”
between the ages of 25-70 and be a church member. A CDL is not needed to drive the shuttles. Training will be offered to all who drive and drivers serve every 5 to 6 weeks. Interested shuttle drivers can speak with Joe Morton or contact Christian Parrish at christian.parrish@wbccares.org or 256-704-5678, ext. 246 for more information.

ADULT MINISTRY Adult LIFE Group Teacher Appreciation Sunday Sunday, April 22
L F E
On Sunday, April 22, we want to show our LIFE Group Teachers how much we truly appreciate them.
Our LIFE Group teachers don’t expect much when it comes to appreciation. They are willing to serve with little recognition because they are volunteers! But by doing a few simple acts of appreciation, you can energize your LIFE Group teacher. Do something special in your class or department time to honor your teacher who serves so faithfully every Sunday!
