Whitworth University
The Heart of Whitworth
Becoming a Whitworth Pirate means joining a family. At Whitworth, you will find a caring Christian community ready to support you and mentor you, no matter your faith background. A place where you belong, and where you matter.
OUR EVERGREEN TRADITION:
THE
VIRGIN Pinecone
The ultimate quest for a Whitworth student – aside from earning a degree – is to catch a pinecone from any of our towering ponderosas before it hits the ground.
WE ARRRRGH PIRATES!
And we compete in 21 NCAA Division III sports. Fact: We have won the trophy for the best overall athletics program in the Northwest Conference for 13 of the past 15 years!

I worked on a research project with my professor that investigated the effectiveness of perch deterrents on avian predators. I learned a lot about the research process, gained experience processing data, and saw the real-life significance of ecological research. Brock Peterson, biology
One of my favorite classes has been EDU 372: Refugee & Immigrant Experiences [because of] its unique service-learning component. This handson experience allowed me to directly engage with people seeking to enhance their English language skills, bridging the gap between theory and realworld application. Alexa Ramirez, education
Make this Experience Yours.
U-Rec: Climb, play intramurals or work out with a great view of the pine trees. Music program: Travel and perform with some of the greats in our music ensembles (no matter your major). College is an important investment, but it shouldn’t break the bank. The average scholarships, grants and loans received by first-year students in 2024 was $45,401. That means the average direct cost is $21,779.
I don’t come from a lot of money, so financial aid is something I rely on heavily. Whitworth was able to offer so much more than other private schools in the area and so it just made sense on paper. Aaron Slape, English (recent Fulbright Scholar)
Whitworth is a place of multidimensional flourishing. Through my years here at Whitworth, I have flourished in my relationship with God, with others and with myself, discovering my passions and self-identity. Courtney Iseman, political science

Many of our students say they knew Whitworth was “the one” when they visited. You, too? There’s only one way to find out.
Take a campus tour: Get all the highlights from a Whitworth student in the know.
? Ask your tour guide: “Have you caught your pinecone yet?”
Check out a residence hall: See how students make Whitworth their home, get involved and make lifelong friends.
? Ask a student resident: “How would you describe the personality of your res hall?”
Sit in on a class: Don’t worry, we won’t quiz you.
? Ask a prof: “How do you connect with students outside of class?”

As someone from Southern California, it was scary to step out of my comfort zone and move out of state for college, but I knew it felt like home from the first time I visited.
