Dr. Gabriel Cousens Healing The Planet Through Nutrition Dr. Cousens is a renaissance man for the 21st century. He is the author of ten books, creator of the Tree Of Life Center in Arizona, American Medical Doctor, Psychiatrist, Homeopath, Social Worker at large, Spiritual writer and crusader of wellness through nutrition, inviting us to live consciously.

WP: What was it like to be little Dr.

Cousens before you were the actual doctor?

GC: So, my initial start in life was having to face the issue of death. I had TB, and was one year old. This was in 1943 when they didn’t have medications. My mother kept me home and saved my life.

At the same time my brother was there and had a very serious heart disease and he was also sick and bedridden for two years. During this time he and I bonded very deeply. At the age of four, no one in my family was connected to medicine at all; I knew I wanted to be a doctor, there was definitely a destiny.

WP: That’s interesting because people

who often become doctors, it’s usually because their mothers, fathers, uncles and brothers … yeah.

GC: On my father’s side, he had actually

come from Russia and they were master bakers and they created what’s known as a bialy. A bialy is a bagel without the whole.

WP: Yes, I know. I love them!

GC: So, what do I know? At eight I began having mystical experiences. At the time no one in my family had the understanding to help me. I had to keep that to myself.

WP: So on that note, what would some of those experiences be?

GC: Well they were mostly visions.

WP: Okay, if you could elaborate.

GC: I would be just anywhere and suddenly begun to see these people in white robes. I had no present life understanding. And it actually continued.

WP: But the way you interpreted

those visions when you saw them, the people in the white robes, there was a knowing in you that they were benevolent people.

GC: I knew that it was benevolent and I

had no clue what it meant. Later, when looking back, it fit with some Essence and some Yogic thing but that was in retrospect. What do I know at eight or so? But I was really blessed also with being a good athlete, and at ten I organized my own football team and we were undefeated for four years.

WP: Wow, very impressive.

GC: This was fourth through eighth

grade. But the point is, I had a warriorship piece which has been and was an important part of my life, and at the same time I read all the time in grammar school, which was in the Midwest, Illinois.

WP: This is where you grew up?

GC: Yes, my sixth grade teacher told me

that I had read more books than anyone in the history of the school.

WP: Wow, very impressive.

GC: And the school was one hundred years old. I loved to read. My passion was reading and athletes.

WP: It was an unusual combination, the athletic department and also the books.

GC: Right.

WP: And what do you think it was?

What events, time or moment when you realized: I am going to need to take another book, maybe ten or maybe even one hundred books in?

GC: I was reading a book a day. I was

reading all the classics. I was just completely fascinated with all of the classics and doctor/nurse type books.

Those were my two favorites. Basically I read everything in our school library and most of the things in our public library.

WP: That’s incredible, remarkable!

GC: And I loved it!

WP: That’s even more remarkable.

GC: No one was forcing me to do it. So

these were the kinds of energies going. I also began playing tennis at ten. I beat the fiftieth ranked person in the United States.

I liked it, but I loved football.

The next really big event in my life was my brother being killed in a car accident. I was sixteen. So that led me into meditation. Everybody came to the service, it was a very big thing.

WP: I am very sorry to hear that. I understand the impact of that magnitude of loss.

GC: Yeah, right. And I moved into the more serious meditation.

WP: It’s fascinating that you say that be-

cause at sixteen, I really would not quite know what the process to meditate was; so for you was it one of the books you read, or you already knew about it?

GC: It began to happen naturally. I would

WP: And for clarification purposes, when

you say you were in that state, you were just kind of dialed in?

GC: Totally there. But at the same time I

was in an altered reality. So I began to study mysticism in courses. I was doing things in a different way.

WP: Yes. It wasn’t for the fame or getting

into the year book. It was part of your course.

GC: That’s correct.

WP: We did not touch on this, but, were

you religious in any way when growing up? was happening. I went to Reform Jewish.

GC:: I loved it. It was natural, just part of

The female qualities are part of society. When we get into the mystical, the merging of the male and female qualities (at least in Kabbalistic teachings) it’s kind of what it’s about.

WP: To your question about the schools

GC: Here is how I see it - the pendulum is

This is not so good. We are looking for the balance. This is the time of the merging of Male and Female. Both high level qualities need to come out and be honored.

WP: So in terms of your mystical experi-

I got football scholarships. At the same time, I spent a lot of time in my brother’s room, and in that space between sixteen and eighteen I developed a heart and lung machine which is something that did not exist in the late fifties; now it’s common.

I worked at the University of Chicago. I created life in my brother’s room. I mean, this heart and lung machine would pulse - it was truly alive! And so in the midst of all this, while playing sports, I am at the State Science Fair winning a first place you know.

WP: And so you were very dialed in to

GC: I wasn’t that deep. I liked it. I never even thought of this as comfortable.

WP: So where did you finish college?

GC: I went to Columbia Medical School because I had to do what my destiny was pushing me to do.

WP: You knew from a very young age

that you would be headed to medical school.

GC: Yes, and at the same time another

aspect was emerging, my humanitarian aspect. So I’m working as a young man even before going to college with black gangs on the south side of Chicago.

The Black Stone Rangers - they were a big gang.

WP: So you were a peacemaker?

GC: In the two years that I worked with

them, no one got killed. On the day I left, nine people got killed.

WP: Oh God! What triggered that?

GC: I have no idea. I then actually moved to central Harlem and began doing work there around health. We set up a program to train parents to become health workers. I lived one block from Harlem Hospital.

WP: And did you sense a risk being there? Well, maybe a greater one after Dr. King’s death?

GC: I felt no risk. I was supported by

the community. In 1966 or 1967 I moved to Mid-Manhattan. I married and everything kept evolving. After medical school, I went into psychiatry and did a lot of family therapy work. I ended up in Boston and started a center for white working class teens.

WP: As you completed medical school, what drew you into psychiatry?

GC: When I was a third-year medical

student, I solved five unsolvable cases.

I thought the doctor I was working with at the time was so brilliant. This satisfied my intellectual needs and I got drawn into it.

WP: So how did you differentiate

in a way of recognizing that there were other elements that were affecting people and the issues they were dealing with?

GC:: I saw what I saw. It was a no

brainer. It was not as much spiritual but I was certainly sensing physical, emotional and mental things.

WP: And then you came out here to the West Coast?

GC: Exploration.

WP: Let’s try the West Coast experience - sunshine and surf?

GC: Yeah, and I really liked it. My wife liked it. I started the Petaluma People Center of Southern Sonoma County. 1973 was the beginning of my holistic health career. I clearly saw that your physical body affected your mind. I also understood that the mind affected the body. I began to study Shamanism. I also began studying Kundalini in 1975 and developed a Kundalini machine.

WP: You built it?

We were very close. She died in 1996.

My real spiritual life began when

I received Shaktipat from Muktananda He did something I thought was routine but it wasn’t. He blew into my mouth, Spirit went in and I began having extraordinary experiences. I went into the Nothing, dissolved into nothing and came back down. I had what you would call stigmata. Up my back was a snake and in my hands was the stigmata too. I spent the next seven years with him.

WP: How did you see your Kundalini experience enhancing not only your life but your ability to do what you wanted to do?

GC: It began driving me. The divine urge was pushing me so hard.

This went on for seven years. My job was to keep showing up. All these deities were showing up and teaching me. The Kundalini is reprogramming you at DNA level.

Dr. Lesio and I opened up the first Kundalini Crisis Center in the world in 1976.

WP: You mentioned writing a book.

shield of the mind shatters and you are free to move in any direction. You are open to all that is, you are all that is and you don’t exist. I love dying into nothing and eventually you get it. You are an illusion. The “I Am-ness“ disappears.

the level I am talking about, there is no Higher Self. The Self or witness disappears. That is a subtlety that does not get talked about regularly. Now, we have the Tree of Life Center in the US and we have 32 centers all over the world. What we are teaching is really about waking up.

GC: Thirteen, but we are opening a center in Ecuador soon so fourteen.

WP: Is this something you vacillate between from day to day and moment to moment?

GC: It’s an important question and I am

going to say two things. There are levels of enlightenment. All from Self-Realization to God-Realization. You are not doing God’s will, you are God’s will. The art of the awakened state, so to speak, is the walk between the Something and the Nothing; but that takes a while.

GC: I have to say it’s not by choice. I am being directed as well. There is no I. This is what’s happening.

GC: If you believe a whole person is empty. I am at peace in my body, mind, family, community, ecology and with God. I am being lived by it. The natural state of liberation. That is how I am defining the wholeness.

“Your father is mentioning a Florida fraternity connection with your son,” I told a lady at a recent spirit circle. “That’s because my son’s on spring break in Miami with his fraternity brothers,” she replied. As the message continued, it became clear that her beloved father in spirit was joining in the good times.

Grandfather and grandson were buddies here on the earth and death had not changed that relationship.

“Your mother, Jan, is here and putting boxes at your feet,” I mentioned to a lady during a phone session. “She wants you to know that it is okay to donate the things that she can’t use any longer.” With a catch in her voice, the lady on the other end of the line said, “My mom died on a cold and snowy day in December. Today, three months later, I started cleaning out the closets in her house.

R ight before this appointment, I said to her, ‘Mom, I need to know if it is okay to give your things away to people who need them.’”

However, when tragedy strikes, it is easy to assume that the spirits have failed us. I remember a session in which a young woman with great promise mentioned dying in a van accident during a spring break island getaway.

“Grandma Betty was right there with me,” said the young woman. Her mother wept and said, “My only hope in this situation was that my mother met my daughter when she passed. I was so afraid that she’d be alone.”

We need never fear for those we love - - or ourselves. We, and they, are never alone.

At a spirit circle in a private home, a father in spirit reminded his daughter of the brush that needed to be cleaned out in the spring. As her father continued to share his spring “to do” list, he mentioned that he liked to be out back at their home by the fountain. As I spoke, the family dog ran to the doors leading out to the backyard and began to bark. I don’t think that any of us in that room doubted that this usually

BIRDS A ND OTHER WINGED CR EATUR ES “Your mom loves hummingbirds,” I told sisters during a recent phone session. “She’s letting me know that you put up another feeder in her honor.” “I did that this morning!” one of the daughters exclaimed.

I have heard many times from the spirits that they will let loved ones know that they’re around by inspiring birds to appear. Reports of hawks and owls swooping by, feathers materializing from nowhere, dragonf lies and butterf lies brightening grief-filled moments and hummingbirds buzzing in front of faces are often “hellos” from loved ones in spirit.

WIND CHIMES As I discovered from speaking to a young man in spirit named Brian, he could make chimes ring even without a breeze! His mother confirmed that chimes hanging in her son’s room started to ring during the night.

When she got up to investigate, she could see the chimes swaying even though no windows were open and no fans were blowing.

Brian loved wind chimes from the time he was a baby. He still loves wind chimes and uses them to let his mother know that he is around.

GARDENS The spirits often speak about gardens (and f lowers). During one session, a mother in spirit beamed in the midst of a magnificent garden and said, “No weeding needed.” Vegetable and herb gardens are also a topic of conversation for the spirits, often because gardens represent a person’s determination to take care of themselves and their families while on the earth.

very quiet dog was seeing a father in spirit, enjoying a spring day by the backyard fountain.

Recent ly, however, I spoke with a g randfather in spirit who spoke about gardens in an unusual way. “ Your grandfather is gardening,” I told h is granddaughter.

“He loved h is garden,” she told me. “ Your grandfather is lett ing me k now that he is plant ing

your dreams in h is garden so that they can grow. He is tending to your wishes and your intent ions so that they can become real for you here on earth.” We were both struck by the beaut y of that statement. The idea that those we love in spirit can help our dreams to grow and that the spirits help co-create our real it y was a “wow” moment for me.

Loved ones in spirit can use signs of spring to warm our hearts and renew the hope that they cont inue to share l ife with us - - and join us in making dreams a real it y.

Discipline as a SpiritualTrait

To enjoy good health, to bring true happiness to one’s family, to bring peace to all, one must first discipline and control one’s own mind. If a man can control his mind he can find the way to Enlightenment, and all wisdom and virtue will naturally come to him. ~ Buddha

My father was a strict disciplinarian.

As a child, I was in constant fear of his particular form of discipline. I can remember lying in bed at night, fearful that the next day I may inadvertently incur his wrath. Discipline was something very punishing. Discipline hurt.

When I was in the 7th grade, my mother moved us to Hawaii; my angry father no longer part of the household.

My brothers and I had an incredible sense of freedom. No discipline to speak of. We played in the jungles and swam in the sea like natives. Most rules were tossed out and the expression of self encouraged. Discipline had been vanquished, exiled like a tyrant put to death. Freedom and anarchy ruled the day.

For a good portion of my adult life, still lacking a good model of this trait, I shunned many positive aspects of discipline, choosing instead to lead a vagabond existence. Until recently, discipline seemed to be arduous, repressive and punishing. Now I’m seeing this is indeed not the case.

Discipline, when actively engaged, has its’ own vibrational frequency to which anyone can attune; in its’ high form, this vibration is an incredible asset for bringing success to any facet of life.

Practicing discipline as a spiritual trait is one of the keys to Enlightenment.

Choosing our thoughts instead of our thoughts choosing us, for we become the reality that we think.

As the Buddha teaches, it is about controlling one’s mind. Discipline, when practiced in the positive, allows thought and consciousness to become one, which in turn creates the environment for true, deep spiritual growth.

Mantra: “I allow my mind to become one with the mind of God, I allow my thoughts to become one with the thoughts of God.” Allow, as used here, is not a passive practice, but requires discipline.

“Success isn’t measured by money or power or social rank. Success is measured by your discipline and inner peace.” ~ Mike Ditka We live in a culture that offers a smorgasbord of spiritual offerings. Individuals are seeking answers through many different “pathways” in our culture: some jumping from one path to another when they don’t find an immediate answer or cure.

It takes discipline to be able to get the “gold” from any teaching. As much as the path is important, the way in which we engage our spiritual pursuits is equally vital.

“Affirmation without discipline is the beginning of delusion.” ~ Jim Rohn Personally, I found the pure energy of Discipline through communion with an Ascended Master, Serapis Bey. Serapis Bey holds the Mastered Vibration of Discipline. Anyone, through meditation, can access this Master Frequency.

Discernment helps us see discipline as a positive quality. I do not see punishment as part of the equation. When we fail ourselves, through the lack of self- discipline, our life suffers, and that is a form of self-punishment. Practicing discipline in the positive is a form of great self-love.

When we employ discernment and discipline together, it becomes a powerful duo: discernment as the sword, cutting the extraneous from our lives, and discipline the muscle that swings the sword.

Discipline can be powerful in adopting new practices. In these

shifting times, it can be very powerful to stand in the unknown in order to learn something new. It takes a disciplined mind to be able to step out of what you know into what you don’t know, to clear the clutter of the mind and psyche, so that something new and profound can show up.

We are living in the time of spiritual masters. We are the masters we’ve been waiting for. It is time for us to claim our mastery by acting as such. Self-mastery is key to claiming and living as God’s true children, our sovereign God-given right.

I can honestly say that as I practice discipline in my life, I experience a much deeper freedom. Discipline is setting me free. Controlling Your Life

Is the world, and particularly your life, good or bad?

A Course in Miracles tells us that each of us individually gives the world all the meaning it has.

There was an older man I used to play poker with who told me about his great men’s club, the Mavens, which is the Yiddish word for Geniuses or more appropriately, Know-It-Alls. As he described it,

they are a group of older, retired men who meet at a deli and have breakfast once a week. “So what’s the advantage of membership?” I asked him. “Well first you are required to send every member a birthday card on his birthday, so nobody feels bad when they don’t get anything on that day. Second, we guarantee that at least 10 members will come to your funeral.

And, you must accept the club’s motto, Opinion Over Truth! I quickly understood that I did not share his view on the meaning of life.

Consider this much more typical situation. You go with two friends to a seminar. On the way home, you tell your friends that the woman in the blue dress was so argumentative and dominating that you didn’t get to hear anyone else’s opinion. Friend one tells you that the woman’s dress was black and that he thought she was insightful and the best thing the night had to of-

fer. Friend two reports that the air conditioning was so high; all she did was shiver and didn’t really see or hear a thing. Once again, here’s a situation where three people experience the same thing and have completely different interpretations of what this occurrence means.

This may seem obvious, but if you extrapolate its meaning you’ll eventually discover that every individual on the planet interprets “objective facts” in vastly different ways.

The truth is that in our spiritual lives there is no objective good or bad. All judgment is suspended.

Take the ancient Zen story about the farmer who consults with the master on how he should handle his difficult life situations. On his first visit he explains that his horse has run away and now he must plow his fields himself.

“Even with the horse plowing the field, I barely made a living,” he laments. “Now that he’s run off,

No matter how hard we try, we cannot control the world. We can do our best to steer our lives and follow our preferences, but in the end, we control very little. What we can do is surrender everything in our lives to God’s will. If we believe we are spirit and full of God’s love and presence, then all situations lead us to experience the world with that joy and presence. This is God’s true desire for us. Keeping that in mind, the best course in life would be to see every event as a catalyst to recog-

nize that all things, even the most painful, will end in divine grace -- no matter how smooth or rough the road may be getting there.

what do I do?” The master simply replies, “Wait and see.” A week later, the farmer comes back to the master feeling joyful. “The horse has returned, bringing along another horse with him. Now both my son and I each have a horse to plow and we will harvest twice as much.” The master listens and simply replies, “Wait and see.” The next week the man comes back and tells the master, “Oh a terrible thing has happened. My son’s horse was stung by a bee and jumped, knocking my son off and causing him to break his back. He won’t be able to work for months.” The master’s reply once again is, “Wait and see.” The following week, the man returns and again gives a joyful report. “The Emperor’s army swept through the town, forcing all the young men into the army, hauling them away without any notice. But when they came to my hut, they saw that my son was in bed and incapable of any duties and so they left us alone.”

Well at this point, you know what the master said, “Wait and see.”

We give the world all the meaning that it has. We cannot truly judge what happens to other people, as we don’t know what their life is really about – unless we assume we know more than them and God. We are as unique as snowf lakes with different roads to travel and worldly adventures that are never duplicated. We can choose to look at certain things as crippling crises or opportunities to live in the present and surrender to God. If we want to live a joyful life, there is no other way to do it. We cannot suffer for another person. We can give them comfort and show compassion and perhaps our actions will be a silver lining behind a dark cloud.

Life is what it is. This sounds simple but it’s actually profound.

We can fulfill our lives by looking at all situations through the eyes of love -- while forgiving ourselves for those times that we can’t. We can trust in our own abilities but know they are limited and the rest of life we surrender to God. We don’t surrender in terms of giving up. We surrender in a very loving way to acknowledge that only God knows what the meaning of life is.

God is an Excellent Writer

The font of all Creativity and Inspiration

C

reativity for the mystic has special meaning. In the world of the mystic, all is One. This means that there’s only one Creator. Your job as an artist, painter or writer is simply to attune with this One source of all creation, listen, and report on what you’re told. This is the essence of divine inspiration. It’s similar to the advice I was given as a young businessman when my boss and I were on our way to an important meeting. He turned to me and said, “Keep your mouth shut and listen good.”

As an author, I am most familiar with the art of writing. Many people are fearful that they don’t know how to write or that they’re not qualified. Since everyone is tapping into the same source, it doesn’t matter. All you have to do is, “Keep your mouth shut and listen good.”

Everyone is qualified because, as it turns out, God is an excellent writer.

Anyone can write. The secret is simply, how do you attune with this One source of creation? Writers attempt to do this by following certain routines or rituals. Rituals are simply a series of acts that are meant to impress upon the conscious mind what is being transmitted on a higher plane. Holy Communion, blessing of the food, blowing a ram’s horn are all examples of rituals. They are meant to put you in the proper state of mind so your attunement follows.

In the world of the writer, the rituals may involve writing at a certain time of day, with a favorite typewriter or at a certain desk. Smart writers try to recreate the same feelings they experienced when they were successful in pouring out material. A mystic takes this one step further and you can do this too.

The technique is simple. Before you begin, decide what purpose you’d like to achieve. If you’re just starting out, then your purpose may very well be “what should I write about? What message does the one Creator want me to bring through and share with the world?”

Next, decide what you’d like your private sanctum to look like. Will it be a nature scene with a waterfall or a babbling brook, a cathedral with majestic spires and translucent stained glass windows, a beach scene with waves gently lapping against the shore, or perhaps a garden with beautiful flowers? It doesn’t matter what you choose, so long as you recognize it as a safe place.

After you relax with a few deep breaths, visualize yourself entering your sanctum.

Understand that when you return to the physical world, you may have to do some research. In fact that’s one of the key reasons people suffer from writer’s block - they run out of material or don’t have the knowledge to describe the information that’s been given to them in their personal sanctum.

It’s a good idea to visit your personal sanctum on a daily basis. There are additional benefits to this such as increased vitality, increased ability to concentrate, control of emotions, enhanced intuition, the removal of fear and anxiety.

But the prime benefit of ascending to your own personal sanctum is to receive inspiration by direct attunement with God, the font of all creativity.

asy Ways to Calm and Relax Your Animal Companion in Stressful Situations In our ever-evolving, unpredictable, high-stress environment, our animal companions are often at the receiving end of our anxieties and stresses which we have become accustomed to.

These fears, phobias and anxieties often lead to emotional and physical illnesses in our beloved companions; many times, they start off as simple forms of separation anxiety, noise phobias, social interaction fears, or even aggression.

Some of the most common behavioral challenges associated with high stress situations include panting, crying, whining, pacing, shaking, ears facing backward, tail tucking, excessive yawning, lip licking. Overly anxious greetings could include jumping, hiding out, dashing, tail tucking, destructive behaviors, and inappropriate elimination.

When not properly addressed, these kinds of anxieties, phobias

and fears will eventually lead to chronic emotional distress and physical illness, oftentimes for both you and your companion, and sometimes even a shortened life span.

From a holistic perspective, these issues must be fully addressed on all levels - emotionally, mentally, physically, energetically, behaviorally and spiritually, in both human and animal, since both are intricately linked and both are sharing the same environment and lifestyle.

By addressing them this way, whole resolution for both the human and the animal can be achieved.

That said, there are a number of things you can do quickly and easily, which will almost immediately bring some temporary, if not permanent, relief to these challenging situations and experiences.

1) Practice meditation with your companion - even if you are not an expert meditator, a few moments of deep breathing into your belly, while your animal companion is sitting nearby, will hugely reduce stress and anxiety. If you are able to

do this on a regular basis, it will have permanent results for both you and your animal companion.

2) Engage in communication with your animal companion.

Even if you are not a skilled animal communicator or donâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t know how to practice telepathy, simply speaking out loud in simple, short calm sentences, without any intensity, will reassure your animal that all is well and will produce magnificent results.

These kinds of calming sentences have an energetic imprint on your companions and on yourself, as you speak them.

They can be very similar to affirmations.

3) Create a safe space exclusively for your companion.

In particular, felines and canines who were born in dens, find comfort and reassurance in small spaces. Crates and safe pet enclosures can re-create these kinds of safe spaces. Think of it as a sacred space or meditation sanctuary for your pet. Provide your companion with a favorite blanket with your scent on it and/or the essences or oils mentioned below.

Using medicinal grade essential oils can have profound effects in calming and soothing animals.

My favorite brand is Young Living Oils. They make a variety called ‘Peace and Calm’, which is fabulous. You can also use Lavender, which has also been proven to reduce stress. You can place a few drops on your companion’s bedding and inside a collar and you can also diffuse the oil in your home for overall calming and relaxation.

5) Play soothing music whenever you go out and particularly before a possible stressor occurs. This will likely relax your companion and also reduce the interference from other distressing noises in the environment. One of my favorite varieties, specifically for animals, is Through A Dog’s Ear or Through A Cat’s Ear. Explore the possibility of using an animal wrap during stressful situations, such as Thundershirt.

They can be very helpful in assisting your pet to feel relaxed and comforted.

Make certain that your companion gets plenty of exercise, fresh air (even cats can be supervised on a leash outside) fun, playtime, mental stimulation, and of course, love and attention. A well-exercised pet is a better-behaved and more relaxed pet.

4) Use a flower essence blend in his or her water or food.

Some of my favorites include Bach Rescue Remedy, particularly the ‘Star of Bethlehem’ variety, Star Essences, Spirit Essences or Flower Essence Services (FES). You can also apply these to your hands and rub the essence directly onto your pet’s fur or feathers just before you leave.

More important, the more fulfilling our companions’ lives are when we’re together, the more relaxed and adapted they’ll be when we’re not.

Start learning to work with energy.

Your companion animal is ‘speaking’ a Universal Language of Energy (I call it Speak Wolf!®) If you learn how to ‘play with’ this language, you will find that you and your companion are actually on the same ‘wave length’ and that your human animal bond grows deeper and is more enhanced than you likely ever thought possible.

As a result, both human and animal will be more calm and relaxed through all of life’s situations and challenges.
