Kacie Scherler, Owner

Interview with Re:Supply Owner Kacie Scherler and Shop Manager Michelle Concette

Kacie Scherler:

Can you tell us a little about your background?
I grew up on a farm in Walters, OK, and Wichita Falls was our go-to shopping place. I loved going to antique stores downtown. I moved to California for college at eighteen and ended up staying and working in San Francisco where I encountered stores similar to Re:Supply.

After getting diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disease and losing feelings in my lower body, my husband and I moved back to the farm in 2018 to be near my family. In my journey toward recovery, I began researching clean eating and non-toxic products. It was through this journey that we started our own regenerative farm (Re:Farm) as well as opened up Re:Supply in Wichita Falls.

What is Re:Supply?
Re:Supply is a low-waste and low-tox living store. We encourage our community to bring their own containers and refill with a variety of household products, such as cleaners, shampoos, detergents, herbs, spices, cooking ingredients and more. Since we don’t have great access to recycling in Wichita Falls, we’re trying to do our part to keep plastic out of the landfill and promote re-using. All of our products are natural and sustainably sourced.

How do you choose which products to carry in your store?
Some of our products, like our soaps, teas, and spice blends, we make in-house. The rest of our products are sourced from like-minded small businesses who share our values of transparency, sustainability, and health.

What are your favorite products?
Our laundry detergent and dish soap are stellar! Oftentimes, people think that since a product is more natural, it won’t work as effectively. Our products are both non-toxic AND effective.

What is a product that you believe people are sleeping on? What would be difficult to keep in stock if people knew how great it is?
Our house-made adaptogen blend! Adaptogens are herbs, roots and other plants (like mushrooms) that help our bodies manage stress and restore balance. We offer a tasty adaptogen blend powder that folks can add to teas, coffee, smoothies, or other foods. We have received loads of positive feedback from people who take it regularly, and it has helped alleviate a variety of symptoms. Plus, it’s totally safe and natural!

What information might be helpful to know as a first time shopper?
It’s okay to start small! It can be overwhelming walking into a store like Re:Supply for the first time. We know it’s a little less convenient than going to Wal-mart or shopping on Amazon BUT we pride ourselves on being different, and we’re to help you every step of the way. We encourage people to start with just one product. When your dish soap bottle runs out - bring it to Re:Supply to refill it. As you get the hang of bringing your own container and refilling, you can start to make the switch to more and more products.

Michelle Concetta, Shop Manager

Michelle Concetta:

Can you tell us a little about your background?
Originally from the northeast, I’ve done a bunch of moving around and most recently found myself transplanted here in Texas. I do a little of this and a bit of that, but, ultimately, I’m an artist at heart, so creating is my jam.

What is your favorite part about working at Re:Supply?
The people! Living overseas for the past five years in Saudi Arabia was a touch isolating. I couldn’t wait to repatriate—my social life was sorely lacking. Making new connections and having the freedom to be 100% me was the spark I needed. I’m so thankful to the peeps who shop at RE:SUPPLY. They care about what they put into their bodies and understand the importance of a low-waste lifestyle. I’m psyched to be a part of Kacie’s vision.

What are your favorite products right now? I absolutely love the Little Seed Farm Deodorants. It is hands down THE best deodorant I’ve ever used—no kidding. Such a small amount goes a long way, and I never get stinky! A second fave would be the Adaptogen Blend, made up of 5 mushroom powders with a touch of cinnamon. It works to improve one’s overall sense of well-being.

What would you like people who have never shopped with you before to know?
If you are new to our concept, we are a refillery and sell our bulk items by the ounce. We encourage our customers to bring their own containers to refill, as this cuts down on the waste we produce and throw into landfills. You can buy as little or as much as you like at a time. You can try this or that. Change things up. Come on down and make the switch to living more sustainably!
