My First Classes

Willamalane’s My First classes are designed for kids five and under to encourage active play, learning, and creativity in a safe and fun environment. Experienced instructors who understand young children’s unique needs and interests lead the classes. Parents or guardians participate alongside their little ones, allowing families to bond and grow together.

MY FIRST SPORTS: SOCCER

Ages 3-5. Join the fun and introduce your young athlete to the exciting world of soccer with My First Sports! This program teaches the basics of the game, including kicking, trapping, shooting, running, and agility. With an emphasis on fun and teamwork, experienced coaches will guide you and your child through the learning process, ensuring that everyone has a great time. At the end of the program, your child will receive a medal to commemorate their achievement.

My First Climb

Ages 3-5. This is the perfect introductory class to help your child learn the art of climbing. Kids build confidence, balance, and strength on the climbing and boulder walls while parents learn to safely support young climbers with basic belay and coaching techniques. Climbers receive a certificate of completion and skill development milestones.

My First Steps

Ages 1-3. My First Steps is a class for your little one to learn how their body moves and how to freely embrace and express themselves. Tots and their caregivers enjoy movement, activities, dance, music, and motion while learning basic motor skills and intro to preschool-type lessons.

Ages 16+. Send those pins flying! This fun, accessible bowling league is designed for people experiencing physical or mental disabilities. Sign up online, at the Willamalane Adult Activity Center (215 W C St.), or at league meetings. Bring $10 for lane fees and join new friends on the first and third Saturday of each month at Emerald Bowling Lanes.

Climbing

From the 12-foot bouldering wall to the 33-foot-tall free-form climbing wall, Bob Keefer Center has something for people of all climbing levels. Choices of ropes and auto belays make it easy for new climbers to navigate the wall and experienced climbers to find a challenge. Drop-in fees include a harness, shoes, chalk, and belay devices. TEEN/ADULT CAPOEIRA CLASSES

Ages 13+. Capoeira is a Brazilian martial art that incorporates elements of dance and acrobatics in a game of ritual, noncontact combat. This beginning class is designed for teens and young adults to work on coordination, flow, and strength as a foundation for lifelong fitness. The classes are structured to develop the essential skills of martial arts.

Pickleball

Enjoy one of the nation’s fastest-growing sports! Pickleball is a low-impact sport played with a paddle and a whiffle ball on a small court. Play singles or doubles. This is a great game for those using wheelchairs.
