Edmund Carver: There’s something about a smiles that John Blake just can’t get enough of. They made him feel warm inside, like a cup of hot chocolate on a long winter night. Somehow he always finds a way to make people smile. He’s still surprised at how easy it can be to make someone’s day. He has fed the hungry, clothed those in need, and given shelter to those that have no home. Every morning he wakes up and gets excited, because every day is new opportunity to help someone and make them smile. I think the story of John Blake would be a great story for the Chicago Tribune. John signed up a year ago to be a volunteer at TruNorth, a nonprofit dedicated to helping people in times of need. It’s there that he has found his niche of helping people, and in turn, bringing smiles to their faces. After reading your articles “Time Is Not On Our Side” and “Outreach Unlimited” I think that you would be the perfect person to write the story of John Blake. As such I’m offering the story to you as an exclusive. We are willing to fully cooperate with your staff so they can garnish any necessary information to make this story a success. I am personally willing to set up interviews with John, as well as other volunteers and workers of TruNorth. Don’t hesitate to call if you need any additional information. My phone number is (269) 532-9894. I will contact you on Monday, April 6 to see if I can help in any way with John’s story. Thank you for your time and consideration. It was as if it was breathing in the light of its surroundings and exuding brilliance as a result. The piece was ornate, crafted from a living gerbera daisy that had been lacquered and trimmed in 14k gold, and hung from an intricately woven gold chain. As Jennifer Billings clasped the necklace around her neck, she swore she could smell the faint scent of flowers. Jennifer Billings won this necklace and matching earing set by entering in the raffle at Rings True Funkified Jewelry’s Spring Gala event. She had never been one for entering raffles, but after seeing the new Easter line designed by Lolly Deadringer, she couldn’t help herself. -30-

Exclusive on Delta Omega former President
Dear Mr. Bratcher, It felt as though he were choking on cotton balls. Eric Watson had said the words of his fraternity countless times, but this time was different. This time was the last time he would say them as an active member. Kappa Kappa Psi was his crowning achievement. He had taken an idea and turned it into a reality. He could hear the voices of everyone saying the familiar words. There were 22 voices in all, over triple from just seven in the beginning. He had been President then, and the chapter had grown like a weed in the heat of summer under his watch. Now it was time to let it all go. I believe the story of Eric Watson would be a great addition to the spring edition of the Podium. The Podium highlights stories about the different aspects of the fraternity in each issue. As such the story of how Eric Watson colonized, chartered a chapter, and then tripled it in size in three years would be a great addition highlighting one of the leaders of the fraternity. I am offering Eric’s story exclusively to the Podium so I would need to know if you’re interested as soon as possible. As the Corresponding Secretary I will work with you to gather any information you might need for the piece, as well as set up interviews with brothers of the chapter. I am always available through email and you can also reach me at (269) 532-9894. I will call on Friday, Feb. 28 to see if I might be able to help in any way. Thank you for your time and consideration. William Harris IV
