Nektar Meadery Hosts Annual Mead Fest FERNDALE, MI-‐ B. Nektar Meadery will host its second annual Spring Mead Festival on May 10 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. No tickets are needed for the event.
The event will be held at the breweries old location at 1505 Jarvis Suite B, about a
quarter mile north of the new production facility. There will be 14 new limited releases available on tap including: The Dude’s Rug (Chai Cider), Lemon Ginger Cider, Cider and Doughnuts (apple cider ale), Cranberry Mead, Cherry Lime Mead, and Dragon’s are Real, a cherry chipotle mead aged in New Holland Dragon’s Milk barrels. Many of the limited releases will also be available in bottles.
B. Nektar Meadery was founded in 2006 by Brad and Kerri Dahlhofer. As an avid
home brewer, Brad decided to open a meadery after himself and Kerri were laid off. B. Nektar has since won multiple awards for different meads and has been featured in various news outlets in Detroit as well as across Michigan. -‐30-‐

B. Nektar Meadery B. Nektar Meadery was founded in 2006 by Brad and Kerri Dahlhofer. When Brad and Kerri got married in 2005, Brad made a batch of mead to serve to his guests. After receiving great reviews from those in attendance Brad jokingly said he would open up a meadery. After the wedding, Brad and Paul Zimmerman, a friend and fellow home brewer, continued to brew mead in the Dahlhofer’s basement. They made a variety of small batch mead and entered them into competitions. Their meads began quickly winning home brewing awards. In the summer of 2006 Kerri was laid off from her job and came up with the idea of trying to sell their mead. The three soon started the meadery in their basement. Brad too fell victim to layoffs in the spring of 2008. Despite setbacks, they opened the doors to B. Neckar Meadery on Aug. 2, 2008, National Mead Day. -‐30-‐
